  • Is Me+ Under Eye Masks Good For Tired Looking Eyes?

Eye mask are one of my favourite skincare products. Although under eye masks aren’t a permanent fix or a magic wand to rejuvenate the skin, sometimes they can be a quick fix to help this area look less tired and refreshed. Not to mention using them feels pampering and performing an easy treatment on yourself. The most recent under eye masks I’ve been using has been Superdrug’s own brand called Me+ Brightening Caffeine Under Eye Mask with Peptides. So how did this perform?

Me+ Brightening Caffeine Under Eye Mask
What is this supposed to do?

Me+ Brightening Caffeine Under Eye Mask is designed to help improve the look of puffiness and darkness under the eyes.

    Packaging

These under eye masks come in a typical small sachet. The Me+ range could be geared towards anyone or any age. Simple black and white colouring with a pop of orange, makes this look like it could be for a teenage girl to a man in his 50’s, which I like as it will appeal to a lot of people.

    How do these look?

The eye masks look like most individual under eye masks look. These are two, almost bean shaped masks (although much bigger). White in colour and made from the same material as sheet masks.

    Fragrance

I didn’t detect one! On the ingredients list I didn’t see ‘parfum’ or ‘fragrance’, but nothing on the sachet stated fragrance free either.

    How to use

Apply the masks onto a clean, under eye area for 10-20 minutes. Remove and dab in any excess serum under the eyes. Do not wash off.

    In use

When taking out the under eye masks out of the sachet, they were full of serum but not dripping with it. Very cooling on the skin which I liked (I put them in the fridge 30 minutes before use). Although easy to apply, I felt the size of these masks was too large and didn’t quite sit closely enough to the bottom of my eyes. So I simply folded over a small part of it which gave me a better shape and fitted more nicely and snuggly under my eyes. They stayed on securely with no movement or slipping, comfortable to wear and didn’t dry out.

Once I took these off my under eyes they didn’t look massively different but they did look a tiny bit more rested. But they did feel well moisturised but not in a heavy or greasy way. * I used these eye masks for a second time the following day and after use my eyes looked more noticeably rested.

    Recommended?

Although I think the shape is too big, I liked using these under eye masks. They stayed where I put them, they felt nice on the skin and the serum didn’t evaporate from the masks. Putting these in the fridge I think makes a difference, and will provide a more pampering experience. Price wise these a good value. Full price these are £2.99 but regularly are on some form of promotion which provides even better value. Do I recommend them? I probably would yes. Would I buy these again? Yes, and I would use these more often rather than as a one off.

  • Is Scentology’s Pomelo & Neroli Body Mist Perfect For Spring?

Body mists are one of the most cost effective types of fragrance for the body and clothes to purchase on the high street. They can be super cheap, as low as 89p, or much more, depending on your budget. Let’s be honest, if you like body mists and use them regularly, you will buy them more at a more affordable and lower price point. My latest body mist purchase was from Superdrug in the form of Scentology’s Pomelo & Neroli Body Mist. Normally £7.99 for 200ml, but I bought it when it was half price AND a buy one get one free! So is it any good?

Scentology’s Pomelo & Neroli Body Mist
    Packaging

This body mist comes in a clear, slightly frosted bottle. White lid, spray applicator and a very simple black lettering on the front. Despite how plain this packaging is it looks good, more expensive than what it costs and could be bought for or by any aged person, so would be attractive to anyone.

    Fragrance

The most simple way I can describe how Scentology’s Pomelo & Neroli Body Mist smells is it’s a blend of white florals with a light peach fruitiness to it. There’s also a hint of a slightly musky aromatherapy, earthy scent added in there as well. It sounds like a lot going on scent wise but this mix is actually a nice one. Not too heavy, strangely quite uplifting and light, but has depth to it.

    Strength & Longevity

Strength when first applied is a medium. But I feel it weakens quite quickly so I reapply it. Longevity for me could be better. It’s still there a few hours later but faint. I like my fragrances to linger longer and stronger. Important to add I rarely apply fragrance to skin it’s always on my clothes. So this may behave differently on skin.

    Recommended?

I actually like this body mist! And you would too if you like a fragrance to be floral with a hint of fruit to it. It smells great and is perfect for Spring and Summer wearing. But what about the longevity and strength? To be honest, as long as you don’t purchase this at full price reapplying this if and when needed isn’t a big thing. It’s a generous 200ml size, I use this ALOT and it’s still full. Not everyone wants heavy, obvious fragrances so this could be ideal for them. So am I happy to use this? Yes, I use it daily. Would I recommend it? I would, for the right person and at the right price!

    * A quick note. My 13 year old daughter borrowed this and says how nice it smells. I’m not getting it back! And she’s asked for this for her birthday. So thumbs up from her.

There are a few different fragrances at Superdrug in the Scentology body mist range. Hopefully something for everyone’s fragrance taste.

  • My First Time Using Superdrug’s Black Castor & Shea Shampoo & Conditioner

Having multiple people in a household means the need to restock certain items. Face wash, deodorants, shower gels, all essential items that my family use regularly. One duo of products that I noticed I needed to replace recently was shampoo and conditioner (we all use the same products to wash our hair). The shampoo I originally wanted to buy in Superdrug wasn’t available at the price I wanted to pay. So I opted for their own brand of Black Castor & Shea Cleansing Shampoo and Hydrating Conditioner. So what were they like?

Superdrug’s Black Castor & Shea Shampoo and Conditioner
    Who is this suitable for?

This range of products is formulated for people who have coily and curly hair, which will include afro Caribbean hair (which is my hair type). So from lose curls to the tightest is what Black Castor & Shea Shampoo & Conditioner is perfect for.

What do these products aim to do?

Black Castor & Shea Cleansing Shampoo is designed to clean hair and scalp and remove any product build up gently. Scalp and hair should look and feel clean without being stripped. The conditioner helps moisture and treat the hair after washing.

    Packaging

Both products are housed identically in pink plastic bottles with black labelling and flip top lid. These really do stand out and drew my attention to them by how they looked while I was in store. What I liked about the label on these products is it showed by a simple illustration what kind of hair types would benefit from using these products. Very useful and simple to understand.

    Texture, consistency & look

Both of these products surprised me by being orange in colour. The shampoo had a more fluid consistency to it and the conditioner more thicker, where it had hold when poured out of it’s bottle. Both products were smooth and shiny in consistency and look.

    Fragrance

The scent of these haircare products I would describe as smelling sweet, almost caramel like. Very comforting, not sickly or too strong but very nice.

    Washing my hair

It’s normally on the second wash that my hair really takes on any shampoo, but with this shampoo it was on the third wash. The first two washes it didn’t lather up much but on the third the lather was insane, creamy and plentiful. On each wash I could see the dirt coming out of my hair and it started to feel really clean. But on the third wash this was when I really felt the shampoo was being effective. My hair had that clean feel to it, didn’t tangle up and wasn’t difficult to manage.

    Using the conditioner

I covered my scalp and hair with the conditioner and left it on for around 10 minutes and rinsed it off. My hair still felt clean but lightly moisturised and treated.

Overall, once I checked my hair and my scalp both looked and felt clean. No dry scalp, no flakiness, which sometimes I have. Both looked like they were in great condition. Was I happy with the end result? Yes I was!

    Recommended?

I was a little sceptical about this hair care duo. I’ve been using a specific brand of shampoo and conditioner which works well especially on afro Caribbean hair. So I was unsure whether I would like these products or not. BUT, these did everything they promised. Black Castor & Shea Cleansing Shampoo gently but effectively cleaned my hair AND scalp without stripping it. The conditioner moisturised and treated the hair. Not only were these products great on my hair I enjoyed using these products too, so I totally recommend these if your hair type is right for this range.

The shampoo retails for £5.99 and the conditioner £4.99, but I bought these on a buy one get one half price promotion. Great products and great prices!

  • Perfect For Autumn! Fruity Blood Orange Body Mist From Superdrug

Who doesn’t love fragrance? Home fragrance, car fragrance, body fragrance. You name the type most of us love them! Different scents evoke different feelings, memories and thoughts, so no wonder it’s easy to be a fragrance junkie! Fortunately, if we focus on fragrance for the body, you can grab them at affordable prices without going bankrupt. I recently found a VERY affordable, limited edition Autumn/Halloween inspired body mist in Superdrug. I bought Fruity Blood Orange Body Mist for only £1.74 (with my Superdrug loyalty card), but without the card costs £3.49 for 100ml. Is this body mist good is it?

Superdrug’s Fruity Limited Edition Blood Orange Body Mist
    Packaging

This body mist comes in a chunky but small plastic spray top bottle. Clear and tinted orange/red with a fun looking label on the front, clearly showing what this fragrance should smell like. Personally, I don’t mind how this is presented. I like the fact it’s not cylinder shaped thanks to it’s flat sides. But the overall look doesn’t scream expensive or aimed at all ages. More on the affordable side appearance wise, but fun, and towards a younger age range.

    Fragrance

Am I the only person who doesn’t know what blood orange smells like? Well I don’t! But what I would say is Fruity’s Blood Orange Body Mist has a citrus hint to it. But is also a little spicy and musky, so is quite a dark, rich fragrance. It’s a lot more grown up in smell then how the packaging looks and I love it! How this smells is more in line with a perfume rather than a body mist, and I’m impressed. Perfect Autumn fragrance!

    Strength & Longevity

This body mist is medium in strength. Once you spray it there’s no mistaking that scent is out into the world! It’s obvious, it’s distinctive, great noticeable strength but not headache inducing. Longevity is much better than what I thought it would be. I very rarely apply fragrance directly onto my skin. Most of the time it’s applied onto my clothing. This lasted. I used this first thing in the morning before work and a good 5 hours later I could still smell it, clearly, on my clothes. Was it exactly the same strength? No. But not massively weaker and it didn’t need to be reapplied.

    Recommended?

I love this body mist! I like the size this comes in because it’s easy to throw into my bag. The scent is fabulous, and ties in so well with Autumn which makes this being limited edition a good choice. Not only does it smell great but the strength and how long it lasts is worth even the full price of this but more so the price I paid! If you love your fragrances to have citrus, musky, woody, slightly spicy depth to them in a slightly sweetened feminine way…BUY THIS!
