  • Treacle Moon’s Limited Edition Spiced Plum Frosting Shower & Bath Gel

It’s nice to have something to put in the bath or use in the shower that’s different. There are certain products I repeat purchase but once and awhile there comes along something that stands out. I shower in the morning and have a bath in the evening, so if I can use the same product for both it makes my life easier. And that’s why a shower and bath gel or cream are perfect. So going back to products that are a bit different to the norm….how about a limited edition winter inspired shower and bath gel with an unusual fragrance (compared to the usual ones on the shelves that is)? Well I found one! A frantic dash to my local ASDA store last week resulted in me leaving the building with Treacle Moon’s Limited Edition Spiced Plum Frosting Shower & Bath Gel. £1.50 for a 500ml bottle.

Treacle Moon’s Limited Edition Spiced Plum Frosting Shower & Bath Gel
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve bought and used different products from this brand and I’ve enjoyed every single one of them. Seeing a new fragrance, limited edition and seasonal, was a no brainer to buy and try. I love my fruity fragrances anyway, and this just seemed so appealing sat on the shelf. And £1.50 for a bottle is the lowest I’ve seen their shower & bath gels so even more affordable than usual.

    Packaging.

Simple but beautiful. 500ml of product sits in a plastic flip top lidded bottle. It’s clear because you can see the gel in it as it’s coloured. What makes this striking and stood out for me was the label. Mostly white in detailing with wintery looking leaves, dots and a large festive looking plum to finish it off. How could you not be drawn to this?

    Fragrance.

This sounds silly to say but what exactly does a plum smell like? I can’t say I’ve ever grabbed a plum to sniff it! So saying this smells like plum wouldn’t be totally accurate if I can’t think of what the fruit smells like. But what this does remind me of a little is dark cherries. Dark cherries which isn’t harsh or sharp but quite creamy with a hint of spice at the back of it. It’s a beautiful scent and one I don’t think I’ve smelt in a shower or bath gel before. Very different yet very seasonal.

    Look & Consistency.

This is a gorgeous shade of an almost burgundy red. Very striking! Smooth, glossy, opaque and thick. But of course it is a liquid and similar to many bath or shower gels in consistency.

    In The Shower.

On a sponge this created a very creamy foam. I didn’t need to use a lot, and it washed my body well and I really enjoyed using this. The fragrance was very noticeable and I know this is one of the reasons I loved using this because of how it smelt.

    In The Bath.

A small amount under warm running water created lots and lots of bubbles! Bubbles that lasted a long period of time and didn’t disappear straight away. The water underneath at first was slightly coloured, but became clear quite quickly. Like in the shower, the fragrance was there. It’s one of those scents that was comforting and lovely. I forgot it was there and then I had to remind myself where the lovely smell came from when my nostrils got a whiff of it. This was a very relaxing bath that helped me unwind. This shower and bath gel didn’t dry my skin out or irritate it at all.

If you don’t like fruity scents this probably isn’t for you BUT if you do this is a must! The scent is gorgeous, it foams up fabulously, comes in a great size and is only £1.50! And the packaging screams winter which is perfect for this time of year. So do I recommend this? Oh yes I do! In fact, I wish I picked up two of these.

If like me you have a fruity side when it comes to your bath products and want to grab this for yourself or as a stocking filler, there are a few places you can get this from. I’ve seen these on the shelves of both Tesco and ASDA, and I believe Waitrose stock the Treacle Moon range so this maybe there too. But ASDA do have this for the best price so check there first if you can.

    Happy plum picking!x

  • Treacle Moon’s Papaya Summer Body Scrub

Body and skincare for me isn’t just the act of cleaning and moisturising the face and body, it’s about selfcare. Not sounding dramatic, but it’s about spending a small amount of time on your own making yourself physically and mentally look and feel better. There are times of course it’s all very rushed and part of an everyday routine, and then it can be spending an hour in the bath in a coma. So these products are important to me, along with their quality and price. One product I picked up recently from my local ASDA store, was Treacle Moon’s Papaya Summer Body Scrub. Reduced in price, wait for it….to 87p!!

Treacle Moon Papaya Summer Body Scrub

    Why did I buy this?

I’ve tried different products from Treacle Moon, and none of them have disappointed me! So they are definitely a brand I go to for quality and affordable bath and body products. I’ve used the Coconut Island body scrub before which I loved, and Papaya Summer looked so appealing. The name, the colour and of course the price! I would have been crazy not to pick this up!

Do you need a body scrub? What are they supposed to do?

For me, a body scrub primes the skin like a facial scrub does. It removes dead skin cells leaving the skin feeling smoother and looking less dull. This gets it ready for whatever lotions and potions you want to put onto the skin, making them more effective. So, although it’s not something I use as regularly as I should, it’s a must for me and a very satisfying process.

    Packaging.

225ml of scrub comes in a plastic flip top tube. The tube is clear and see through, so you can see the scrub inside it. And what I think is fun is the illustrations on the front. It has a holiday vibe to it with palm trees and dancing silhouettes of people visible. All brightly coloured, which is set off by the bright colour of the scrub itself underneath.

    Fragrance.

Totally yum! Off the top of my head I can’t even think what a papaya smells like. But this to me has the sweetness of a ripe, fleshy, tropical fruit. Mixed with a little ice cream and a sprinkling of sweets on top. This IS my kind of scent and it’s delicious!

    Texture & Look.

Colour wise, this is vibrant! A very bright orange colour with tiny brown speckles in it which makes this product stand out. I thought this would be similar to a body lotion in it’s consistency, which it was and wasn’t at the same time. When squeezed out of the tube it did remind me of a lotion, but the look and feel of it had a lighter, slightly whipped texture to it. Airy, and between the finger tips felt like it wanted to melt (which it didn’t).

    How to use.

Apply onto damp skin, rinse then towel dry the body.

    In the shower.

I ran a bath as I always do when using a body scrub. Once I finish using a scrub I soak in the bath for a good 30minutes. I wet my skin while the shower was on, and used a healthy blob of this on each section of my body. Easy to rub in and I could feel the coconut shell straight away. I thought they would be bigger but they were big enough to do the job. I didn’t need to apply too much pressure, and although the exfoliating bits were present the rest of the scrub slowly disappeared into my damp skin.

But it was the smell of this that made the scrub for me. Beautiful, fragrant, mouth watering and totally enjoyable!

Once I finished I didn’t rinse this off, I just lay in the bath and let the water run it off my body naturally. Any few stray bits of exfoliate I removed but to be honest it pretty much came off with a sweep of the hand.

    Skin afterwards.

Felt clean and smooth, not dry at all and totally matt. Unlike most recent body scrubs I’ve been using, this left no residue at all. No oil, no layer of anything, it just left clean skin. My skin was lightly scented which was a pleasant surprise, as I love the smell of this far too much!

    Who would love this?

If you love the idea of scrubs but don’t like the idea of them being oil based but you don’t want to experience the dried out feeling afterwards, this is for you. Loving fruity scents? Then you will adore this. And if you want an affordable body scrub that is effective and always low in price as standard hands down this is a great purchase.

    Recommended?

Yet again Treacle Moon have not let me down, I love this scrub! I probably would use this 2 times a week, which means with the amount in the tube it would last a good amount of time. The texture and scent of this was delightful, easy to use and remove, and can be grabbed off the shelf in certain supermarkets, so an easy purchase. The price I paid for this was brilliant! But their products normally are affordable all the time anyway so can be repeat purchased without going into bankruptcy. I can’t remember how much Tesco or ASDA normally sell this for, possibly £1.95 or £2.95? Regardless, I recommend this 110% as I would with all products I’ve tried so far from this brand!

  • Treacle Moon’s Gentle Powder Love Shower & Bath Gel

Guess one of my pet hates? Running low on something! Hate it! It’s bad enough if its food or drink as an example. But even WORSE when it’s a product I use on my skin. Imagine my despair when I noticed my bath and shower gels looking pathetically low in their bottles, on the side of my bath? So on top of my shopping list last week was to buy something to use in the bath and shower. I picked up Treacle Moon’s Gentle Powder Love Shower & Bath Gel from Tesco for £1.99, while doing a small top up grocery shop.

Treacle Moon’s Gentle Powder Love Shower & Bth Gel

Why did I buy this one? I’ve used products from Treacle Moon before and been very happy with them. Normally I would get them from Tesco, but a certain pandemic has limited my time and places to shop in. But when I got the chance to visit my local store recently, I thought it was a good idea to pick up and try one I hadn’t used before. And guessing what this smelt like, I thought it would be a good product for my son to use too.

Packaging. 500ml of shower and bath gel comes in a clear plastic bottle with a flip top lid. There is a little paragraph on the side, which for me conjures up how the fragrance of this is supposed to make you feel. A cute picture on the other side completes it. These details always catches my eye when I see these bottles and draws me in to inspect. Overall a great look to their packaging which is modern, interesting and cute!

Scent. This reminds me so much of baby lotion. That clean sent with slight powdery notes to it and the smallest hint of floral. This was subtle and not overpowering and very easy on the nose. The fragrance side isn’t typical for standard shower and bath gels, which is bonus. And its one of those fragrances that universally the majority of people will like it.

Look & consistency. The colour of this is baby blue, which I think is perfect considering the scent and the name of this product. Looks creamy in appearance, shiny and smooth. Consistency is what I would expect which is fluid but with a slight thickness to it.

In the bath. I squirted a small amount of this under warm running water, and it slowly created ALOT of foam. The water had a slight pale blue tint to it but pretty much was overrun by mounds of white, fluffy, soft bubbles. The bubbles lasted as long as my bath did. The scent was there and very delicate. My time spent in the bath was relaxing and super pleasant, which is what a good quality bath product should create.

In the shower. Lathered up beautifully on a sponge. Soft and creamy which is what I want when using something in the shower. Didn’t need to use much and my skin felt clean and fresh once finished.

On my skin. In and out of the bath my skin was perfectly normal. No issues and not dried out or irritated in the slightest.

Recommended? Totally! The formulation of Treacle Moon’s shower & bath gels mean you get exactly what you need from this type of product. It cleans the skin without stripping it, creates foam and has a lovely fragrance. Price wise it’s not expensive. You get 500ml which will last a good amount of time. And it’s one of those rare affordable products that actually look great as a gift and looks more expensive than what it is!

Want to get your hands ( and body ) all over Gentle Powder Love? There are a few ways and places you can buy it. You can go direct to Treacle Moon here and it costs £3.00 ( yes, it’s less in Tesco so bare that in mind ). Bonus though is they have all their range on there and delivery is free with a £15.00 spend. You can pick this up ( dependant on store and stock levels ) from Tesco instore or online. Waitrose also stock this range too. Happy shopping!

  • Treacle Moon’s Coconut Island Body Scrub

Hands up who forgets about their body during winter? It’s cold and wet. Most of us are walking around wearing 5 layers of clothes. And let’s not mention the over indulgence during Christmas and New Year! So no surprise if the condition of the skin on our body isn’t top of our to do list, right? But our skin is our biggest organ, and keeping it in good shape doesn’t have to be a massive or expensive chore. Realising I haven’t been taking my own advice on board in regards to body care, I’ve dragged out my Treacle Moon’s Coconut Island Body Scrub to get my skin feeling silky smooth. I bought this in Tesco some time ago when it was half price for £1.50.

Treacle Moon’s Coconut Island Body Scrub

Why did I use this one? I do have a few body scrubs floating around. But I chose this one because I wanted a product that would be quick and easy to use in the mornings before work. No fuss, use, in and out and gone!

Packaging. 225ml of body scrub is housed in a plastic flip top bottom tube. A descriptive paragraph on the front conjuring images connected with the fragrance of this scrub is a lovely touch. And the usual info including such as ingredients can be found on the back.

Texture. Similar to a body lotion. It held its shape as it came out of the tube but wasn’t totally solid. White in colour, but small, brown pieces/grains were clearly visible. These are tiny pieces of coconut shell that act as the exfoliator. Despite these pieces, the scrub itself looked shiny, opaque and smooth.

Scent. I’ve tried various coconut scented products over the last few months, so I already had an idea in my mind what this would smell like but I was wrong. There was a slight tropical scent to this, but what really put a smile on my face was the sweetness. Imagine a small element of coconut, mixed in with sugar and a vanilla pod scraped into it. Slowly mixed together over heat. Leaving a gooey, sugary, comforting smell wafting in the air. THIS is what it smells like and its DEVINE! Bakery like in scent family, but not sickly or over the top.

How to use. On the packaging it doesn’t mention how many times a week you should apply this. Traditionally, body or face scrubs products advise twice to three times a week in regards to application. But it does state it should be massaged onto damp skin using circular movements. Rinsed off and body towel dried.

In the shower. I applied this to damp skin. I wasn’t frugal with the amount I used. A decent sized blob on each part of my body e.g arms, legs, torso etc, which was rubbed in. I could feel the grains in the scrub. Perfect size as they didn’t hurt as I moved the scrub around on my skin but I could feel them, which is what you want. Easy to wash off in the shower.

Skin afterwards. I didn’t realise this until I was just about to apply body lotion to my skin, but it felt very soft and smooth! Didn’t feel or look dry and I could easily have skipped moisturising if I wanted or needed to, but didn’t.

Recommended? Definitely! I’ve used a few products from Treacle Moon and so happy to say like the others, this has been a joy to use and not disappointed me. The scent was beautiful, it was easy and fun to use and did exactly what I needed it to. I genuinely couldn’t ask or expect anything more. It’s not an expensive product at full price. £3.00 for 225ml and to use this twice a week? This should last ( dependant on the amount you use of course ), a good month if not 2, so great value. Although I got bargain when bought at half it’s rrp.

I don’t think the scrub is available in Tesco anymore ( not in my nearest one anyway ), but you can order this direct from Treacle Moon here. Which is great because they have free delivery with a £15.00 or over spend AND their full range of shower/bath gels and hand creams are there too! Happy shopping!
