  • Fresh Favourites Wax Melt Collection from Square One Scents

There is something special about fragrancing my home during a colder season. It’s the perfect time to hibernate, so I want my home to feel as cosy as possible, and fragrance helps. One of my favourite ways to fragrance my home is using wax melts. And I have A LOT of wax melts! I have been very good not buying any over the last few months, but I was gifted a Fresh Favourites Wax Melt Collection by Square One Scents from a customer in my place of work a few weeks ago.

Square One Scents Fresh Favourites Collection
    Why was I given this?

When you’ve worked in the same place for a few years and it’s open to the public (retail), you get to know your customers and they get to know you too. One particular customer, like me, has a slight addiction to wax melts. Her last wax melt spendathon was in a small makers market and she bought me these because she thought I would like them.

What’s included in Fresh Favourites Collection?

2 small squares of 8 different fragrances, which are:

    • Cucumber & Sea Salt
    • Coconut & Waterfall Blooms
    • Crisp Cotton
    • Sea Salt & Vanilla
    • Sea Salt & Citrus
    • Long Hot Soak
    • Pixie Dust
    • Dove
    Packaging

16 mini wax melts come in a clear, plastic ‘case’. If you are a buyer of wax melts, you will be familiar with this type of packaging. I love how you can see the wax melts clearly, so you know what you are getting. The corresponding scent names (and relevant ingredient info) is on the back.

    What do these look like?

These are small but perfectly formed square pieces of wax. Although the bottom of these are flat, the top isn’t, and they come in at a point in the centre. Each pair of fragranced wax melts are a particular colour (all pastel shades) and finished off with a sprinkle of glitter. These are so simple in appearance but absolutely stunning!

    The Scents

Opening up this selectin of wax melts gave me a preview what to expect. Once opened I got a whiff of clean, fresh, laundry-esq type smells hitting my nostrils which I loved! But individually the 8 fragrances are quite different.

    • Cucumber & Sea Salt-a little earthy in a plant type of way with a touch of saltiness. Quite an interesting scent and very fresh.
    • Coconut & Waterfall Blooms-this has a toned down, less sweet coconut fragrance to it but still gives off slight tropical vibes. Again, with some earthy, plant like notes to it.
    • Crisp Cotton-clean, crisp, fresh, almost soap like in scent. If you head towards any wax product with the word cotton in it and you want a simple but classic fragrance, this would be THAT one!
    • Sea Salt & Vanilla-probably more sea salt than vanilla because the vanilla is in the background. This makes the scent more delicate and less sickly than traditional vanilla included fragrances, but retains a little of the sweetness.
    • Sea Salt & Citrus-what a combo! Less zest, more fresh and clean lemon citrus without it being sharp or sweety like. The sea salt element, like the vanilla version, tones things down a little in a good way and gives it more depth.
    • Long Hot Soak-I’m not too sure what exactly this is supposed to smell like but it’s making me think of a lightly mineral fragranced bubble bath, probably for men. It’s not heady. Reminds me of soap (again) but with minerals or/and a hint of something else such as an aromatherapy oil.
    • Pixie Dust-slightly powdery floral. Quite feminine and subtle.
    • Dove-we all know what this smells like, surely? This smells like a Dove bar of soap. Clean, fresh, powdery, comforting.
    Cucumber & Sea Salt
    In Melt

I haven’t had time to melt each of the fragrances available in this collection. But I have enjoyed the fragrant delights of Cucumber & Sea Salt and Coconut & Waterfall Blooms. I used both of the 2 wax melts for each scent and popped them into wax melters. I did worry how strong a scent these would be because they aren’t the most punchy of fragrances, but my fears were put to one side quite quickly. They both melted evenly creating the most gorgeous looking, shimmering wax pools. More importantly the fragrances released were slow and filled each room so naturally and beautifully, it was a joy to smell.

    Strength & Longevity

Strength for both was medium. This suited both of these scents so well because any stronger they could have been very heady and overpowering. Longevity is good. Both have been melting for many hours over 2 days and their scent and strength was consistent throughout.

I’m so glad I was introduced to this vendor because I’m really enjoying these wax melts. I love how they look and how are they shaped. Great size, practical presentation and the scents are fantastic. Overall these are fantastic quality.

  • Saving Money On Your Pampering Purchases with Pretty Suds

The last couple of years for most of us has been difficult. The current economic climate just makes times harder and harder. With Christmas coming up, many people still want to celebrate it but not at the cost of their wallet. So where can we save money on products that can pamper the body and fragrance the home? I thought I would try and focus on particular brands, companies and stores to point you in a money saving direction. Today I wanted to highlight a bath, body and home fragrance company called Pretty Suds.

    Pretty Suds

Your bath, body and home fragrance needs are covered under one roof! I’ve bought products before from them and I’ve found them to be great quality, fun to use and affordable. What I like with this business is even though their products aren’t on ‘sale’, they have everyday offers which makes shopping with them cost effective and a breeze.

Here’s some examples of their current offers:

Bath Bomb Box. These are subscription boxes which you can order for monthly delivery, but you can also buy them individually as a one off too. They are themed, and currently there are two bath bomb boxes available called World of Wizardry (inspired by Harry Potter) and Be Our Guest (a nod to Beauty and the Beast). These contain 5 different shaped bath bombs at a cost of £15.00!

Four Bath Bombs for £12.00. Don’t fancy a themed box? You can choose 4 indvidually bath bombs for £12.00 saving £4.00! Bath bombs available range from animals, skulls, Pokemon inspired bath bombs, Princess castles and carriages and more. This option covers so many designs these could be given to different ages with different tastes and likes.

Six Wax Melts for £10.00. Different fragrances are available, and you can choose six wax melts, weighing at 50g, which are boxed. These work out at £1.67 EACH! 50g is a good amount of wax and this price for all six is fantastic value. Fragrances available range from laundry scents, fruity scents and even dupes. Some are inspired by fragrances such as Daisy, Flowerbomb, and…..Lush’s Snow Fairy!

    Other items available..

    Body Butters

    Body Scrubs

    Soap Spongs

    Reed Diffusers and more

February 2019 subscription box containing bath bombs and crumbles
Why should you buy from them?

They have a wide variety of different products available with different appearances and scents. Bath bombs and bubble baths all look fun, appealing and imaginative. Body butters look indulgent and inviting and I SWEAR I can smell the wax melts through my laptop screen! Compared to larger brands and stores, Pretty Suds really do seem to keep their prices fair and their everyday mix and matches, bundles and subscription deals make it even more affordable and great value. Oh…and don’t forget some of their products are fragranced using inspired well-known scents which is great if you are a fan of particular smells but not their prices.

  • Autumn Home Scents Glow’s Cafe Coffee Inspired Wax Melts

There are two things I have a fondness for. One is coffee and the other is wax melts. Strangely, I’ve never thought about combining the two together…until now! A few months ago, I won a small competition in UK wax vendor Glow’s Facebook group, and I received a selection of coffee inspired scented wax melt pots. Now the weather is colder, the days are gettering darker quicker, and I want to hermit more, I thought this was the ideal time to start melting these. So, what scents did I get?

    Glow’s Cafe Wax Melt Pots
    Fresh Coffee

This smells like a fresh made cup of coffee with a small amount of sugar added, finished off with a bit of cream. It’s the slight sweetness that makes this fragrance enjoyable and softer than what I expected and it’s really good, and still remains aromatic.

    Coffee Cream

Smells similar to the Irish cream drink but with a little more warming spices in it, such as nutmeg. This is a mouthwatering fragrance which I genuinely can’t stop sniffing!

    Cafe Latte

This is the little sister of Coffee Cream scent wise. The only difference is when I smell them side by side Coffee Cream definitely has that whiff of alcohol in it and spices and Cafe Latte doesn’t.

    Choca Mocha

Chocolate and coffee. That’s what I get with this one. But more hot chocolate than just a bar of chocolate. Despite not being a fan of this combo in real life chocolate form it, smells great.

    Caramel Vanilla Latte

Caramel Vanilla Latte has a slightly burnt sugar/caramel type undertone to it on top of the creamy coffee scent. If you love the idea of a slightly sugary, full of depth coffee fragrance this would go down well.

    Pumpkin Spiced Latte

This has got to be the standout scent in this set. It’s so different from the others and screams Autumn thanks to its bold, spicy notes. I would say this smells the least like coffee but more spicy, pumpkin which is sweet (not too much!) and very inviting.

    Which one is my favourite?

I would probably say Coffee Cream. These are all great scents but for some reason this one catches my nose the most. All of these are beautifully fragranced. If the idea of coffee scented wax melts makes you feel unsure (like it did with me) please don’t! These all smell amazing. And if you naturally love coffee and how it smells you will adore these pieces.

    Recommended?

Glow never fails me when it comes to their wax. Whatever piece I receive, whatever the scent is, they have always been fantastic! And I have to say, I’m won over by this small but might box of fragrant wax goodies. I would 110% recommend trying out any Glow waxy pieces but also their coffee inspired ones too. And guess what’s currently available in the cutest coffee bean shapes EVER!? Caramel Vanilla Latte and Coffee Cream. A 4 pack of coffee bean shaped wax melts costs £2.50. Grab yours here now and well-done purchasing, you will love them!

  • September’s Round Up. What Products Did I Use?

Another month bites the dust! This year really wants to be done, doesn’t it? It’s absolutely flying by. So here I am showcasing another monthly round up of products I’ve used, but this time for the month of September.

    September’s Round Up
Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box

September definitely started with a bang with this beautifully crafted and scented wax subscription box from UK wax vendor Glow. 5 differently fragranced, shaped and coloured pieces of wax finished off with a super sweet tealight holder. So much wax that I’m still struggling to finish off this epic selection of wax goodies!

    Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser

I’m having a love affair with reed diffusers at the moment. I was pleasantly surprised with the look, quality and price of Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser. Even if you can’t get hold of this or similar from Asda at this price, it’s worthwhile taking notice of their home fragrance products if this is a reflection of their quality. It just shows supermarkets are more than food selling shops!

    Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser
So…? Unique’s Sweet Amber Body Mist

If you’re wanting an affordable, Autumn inspired and warming, sweet fragrance, Unique’s Sweet Amber Body Mist might need to land on your shopping list. Body mists are an affordable and easy way to mix up your fragrance wardrobe without costing a fortune.

So…? Unique’s Sweet Amber Body Mist
Superdrug’s Vitamin E All Over Body Cream with Lavender

This body cream is a little special! Moisturising without being greasy, great fragrance and a pleasure to use. And of course, not expensive and regularly on a price promotion at Superdrug so win win!

Superdrug’s Vitamin E All Over Body Cream with Lavender
The Body Shop’s Seaweed Balance Sheet Mask

I love The Body Shop for its bath and body products but I’m finding a lot of their skincare products don’t fall into my repurchase pile. Their Seaweed Balance Sheet Mask didn’t do much for my skin. Probably not the sheet mask for me and not one I would buy as I’ve used and enjoyed others much more.

The Body Shop’s Seaweed Balance Sheet Mask
Better Homes & Gardens Lemongrass & Ginger Botanical Infused Wax Melts
Wax melts are definitely my thing! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love them. And these little botanical gems not only smelt great, looked fabulous but were also super cheap! Perfect Christmas stocking fillers.

So…? Sorry Not Sorry Ready, Steady Scrub Body Buffer

Vanilla based, very grainy and super effective body scrub. So…? Sorry Not Sorry Ready, Steady Scrub Body Buffer is a good body scrub for those who want a fun scrub to use (and smell), and it works too!

So…? Sorry Not Sorry Ready, Steady Scrub Body Buffer

That’s a wrap for September! So, while I wrap myself up in a blanket (I refuse to put the heat on, if you’re in the UK you know what I mean!), I’m thinking about what other product reviews will come up next month! So keep reading…
