  • Lavender Cottage’s Cocoa Butter Soy Wax Melt Pot

I never need more wax melts but that doesn’t stop me buying more! Lavender Cottage, formally Mulberry Lane, is a company I’ve ordered from before, but hadn’t tried their wax again since they rebranded last year. So I felt it was a great time to order for my friend and a myself and discover some new scents ( perfect excuse!). Along with other Summer inspired scents that got placed in my shopping basket, I ordered Cocoa Butter wax melt pot to try out as well. Normally this costs £2.50, but was half price at £1.25.

    Why did I buy this?

There is a certain skincare/hair care brand that does a cocoa butter lotion which I grew up with, and the scent of it is recognisably after one whiff, AND I LOVE IT! Never smelt it in wax melt form and was dying to see what this was like.

    Packaging

Like many wax melt pots…yep you guessed it…the 47g wax is in a pot! Lidded, with a a fantastic, crisp picture of pure cocoa butter pieces on the front showing what scent you get.

    How does this look?

Colour of the wax is cream. On the top its lightly dusted with various sized hexagon shaped flat gold glittery pieces. Turn the wax around ( the pot except label is see through ) and you can see the wax is actually segmented. Its one piece but divided up in 6 segments which makes breaking up for use easy.

    In melt

I used 3 pieces of this wax because of where my wax warmer was positioned in my kitchen, but 2 should be fine for most wax users. Steadily and evenly it melted which meant the scent crept up rather than pushed into the air straight away.

    Fragrance

Now…this scent really surprised me, in a good way I might add. It didn’t have that cocoa butter lotion smell to me. In fact, it was much more complex. It does have that slight cocoa butter element to it but but has a fruity undertone to it, almost peach like. Such a hard one to describe but I think a universal scent as its beautiful, not overpowering and very different to other scents I’ve experienced in wax.

    Strength & Longevity

Strength is a medium, but of course can be adjusted a little if you add more wax, but strength wise this is perfect. This type of strength I don’t feel should be pushing up into your nostrils and should just ‘ be there ‘. I’ve melted this so far for at least 16 hours over 2 days and its still packing a beautiful punch. So thumbs up for both strength and how long it lasted.

    Recommended?

Most definitely! I can’t see many people NOT liking this. I can understand why this is part of Lavender Cottage’s Summer wax melt collection but in all honesty I would be happy to melt this anytime of the year as its delicious and quite different so one to add to anyone’s wax collection.

  • Scents From 77 Vanilla & Berries Mini Wax Melts

As a wax melt lover, I enjoy discovering new wax vendors to buy from. I’m very lucky to know many people who can recommend various small businesses who make and sell great quality wax. Scents From 77 was recommended to me to purchase from. My first purchase contained various wax melts including Vanilla & Berries. This cost £2.00 for 6 mini wax melts.

Scents From 77 Vanilla & Berries Mini Wax Melts
    Why did I buy this?

Scents From 77 sell wax in various forms, but I love wax shapes and mini melts. No cutting or chopping required, easy to store away in a drawer and the ideal structure to mix scents if and when needed when melting. This particular scent I went for because I LOVE vanilla and fruity scents so this seemed a winning combination.

    How do these look?

This pack contained 6 small mini melts shaped like basic flowers. Creamy off white in colour with tiny dots of blue and pink running through them. Simple but pretty.

    Fragrance

Delicious! The vanilla provides warmth, creaminess and is very soothing. The berry element is sweet but not sickly, and of course smells fruity and mouthwatering.

    In melt

I melted three of these in my electric Yankee Candle wax warmer They melted very quickly but evenly, so the scent was released superfast and filled the room well.

    Strength & Longevity

This poor fragrance has had to battle against various meals cooked as it was melting away in my kitchen, but it stood it’s ground against food smells. Strength has been light to medium, with longevity good considering three of these have been melting on and off for a few days.

    Recommended?

For a vanilla lover this is a must! It’s a beautiful fragrance with a slightly fruity twist to it. So vanilla fans, bakery and fruit lovers give this a whirl as it’s delicious. Good quality wax, perfect strength for the scent and longevity is great. And for £2.00 to get 6 mini melts is a great price and very competitive. • Enchanting Strawberry Melts Fairy Godmother Wax Melt Chunks

Enchanting Strawberry Melts Fairy Godmother Wax Melt Chunks

Using wax to fragrance homes is popular. Traditional candles will never go out of fashion, but other wax products (like wax melts) are loved just as much too. Wax on the high street tends to be quite generic in look e.g cubes that you pop out of a plastic casing. Wax chunks are not as common. To get your hands on wax melt chunks you probably will need to go to wax vendor who sells and makes wax in various shapes and sizes. One bag of wax chunks that has been living in my wax melt stash since last year is Strawberry Melts Fairy Godmother.

    What are Wax Chunks?

No different in function to wax melts, they literally are chunks of wax! Depending on size of chunk, you pop them in the top of a wax warmer and it will release fragrance. Visually they are interesting and fun to look at, they can come in one scent or possibly a blend of scents, and you get a good amount of them so should last you along time.

    Packaging

Fairy Godmother comes in a biodegradable bag lined with bio plastic with a small see through window. This is labelled and mentions wax name and scent description.

    How do these look?

Fairy Godmother chunks are roughly the same size. Not perfectly cubed but this gices them a handmade look and feel. They mainly are lilac in colour. Running through each chunk you can see within them mini chunks of yellow and pink wax. This makes them look almost confectionary like. There is a light dusting of glitter on Fairy Godmother making them glisten slightly. Very pretty and easy on the eye.

    Strawberry Melts Scent Description

Creamy vanilla sandalwood, honey, lavender and Santal almond cream.

    My Scent Description

This is a bakery scented wax to me. Its soothing, creamy, softly sweet and warming. When you first smell this, right at the end you get the smallest hint of herbal thanks to the lavender giving it a fresh note. Fairy Godmother is a very clever combination of fragrances that work very well together but make an unusual scent.

    Strength & Longevity

Strength wise, this is a medium. If it was too strong it could be heady and I think its delicate mix of scents would get lost. It adds something comforting to the room rather than it being overpowering so it comes across very natural. Longevity is very good. I’ve melted one chunk for a good number of hours over a few days before I’ve needed to replace it. So thumbs up for both!

    Recommended?

If you are someone who loves bakery scents but wants something different from the norm, this is definitely one to purchase! It delivers what anyone would want from this scent family. I can’t say I’ve smelt anything quite like this before, and its now a much loved part of my wax collection. Fairy Godmother Wax Melt Chunks cost £5.50 for a 110g bag. Available on the Strawberry Melts website from 8.00pm on the 14th March while stocks last! (*at the time of writing this post*).

  • Strawberry & Parsley Wax Melt Is A Must Buy!

When you buy home fragrance online it’s hard to know what the item smells like unless you’ve purchased it before. So how do you make your fragrance decision? I personally base it off the scent name and it’s description. But sometimes even that doesn’t help with making a decision and you need to just take a chance. And this is what I did when I purchased Strawberry Wax Creations Wild Strawberry & Parsley Wax Melt Pot.

Strawberry Melt’s Wild Strawberry & Parsley Wax Pot
    Why did I buy this?

Wild Strawberry & Parsley seems to be a firm favourite with people online in wax groups. People raved about it, said how great it smelt and how unusual it was. And THIS is why I bought it!

    How does this look?

A simple but beautiful looking piece of potted wax. Green, with red splashes liberally sitting on the top. Appealing, and considering the scent name, the perfect colour combo.

    Wild Strawberry & Parsley
    Fragrance

Its clean and fresh. This reminds me of laundry scented family because of how punch it is with it’s powdery and clean note. Yet underneath it you can make out a berry sweetness to it with added sharpness with a hint of herbal.

    Strength & Longevity

STRONG AND LONG! Use a quarter to a third of this depending on wax warmer used, location and personal taste. But you are more likely to change the wax because you want to rather than need to. Melting a third for me a few hours a day was still going at a good strength by the end of the week till I changed it, and could have continued for longer and still be noticeable ( if not as strong ).

    Recommended?

YEESSSSSS! If you like your clean/laundry type scents you will love this! More so because its not a typical fragrance, but gives that same immaculate spring clean type scent if that’s what you are looking for. This is why this is THE perfect wax to melt for Spring and Summer. Thanks to its strength it will go on and on and on.
