  • Budget Snail Mucin Skincare From Face Facts In B&M

The skincare world can get a little weird! There’s lots of interesting and imaginative products and formulations on the market that can make a normal skincare user raise their eyebrow. One that has been around for years but still makes people question, is skincare that contains snail mucin extract (yes, I said snail!). Budget skincare brand Face Facts has their snail mucin skincare range available in B&M. So what’s available?

Face Facts Snail Mucin Skincare In B&M
Firstly…what is this snail mucin about?

Snail mucin has been an ingredient of some skincare products for quite a while. As the name gives away, it’s mucus secreted from snails. Benefits? It can provide hydration, calming to the skin, can help improve the look and feel to the skin, help reduce lines and wrinkles, the list goes on!

    Prices?

Each product costs £3.99 but currently on a multibuy which is 2 for £7.00. The prices of the products is very affordable, and the sizes are standard, although the moisturiser is great value as its 100ml in size not the standard 50ml.

    Would I buy this?

I haven’t noticed fragrance in any of the ingredients lists of these products, which I do try to avoid. So would I try any of these? I think I would happily try all of them! The cleanser sounds really refreshing but not drying, the eye cream sounds moisturising and the moisturiser sounds pretty good as well. To be honest, all of these products do! And at such low price points it means even if these products aren’t for my skin, it won’t be the end of the world.

  • My Favourite Dupe Product Is…..

Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel! Out of all of the dupes I’ve tried, THIS is my favourite and has been purchased many, many times when it’s in stock. The market is flooded with dupes from well known brands of skincare, body products, fragrance and bath and shower goodies. But this shower gel, even thinking about it, makes me smile. But why?

My favourite dupe is Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel
What is this a dupe of?

Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel is a dupe of Sleepy Shower Gel by LUSH. Is this an accurate dupe? Although I haven’t tried the shower gel, I have used, multiple times, products from the LUSH Sleepy range. This includes the Bubble Bath Bar and Bear Bath Bomb. Both have got a distinctive fragrance to them which Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel is very similar in scent wise. Also, the packaging of Lidl’s product is ‘inspired’ by Sleepy. So from my observations, definitely a dupe!

    Price

Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel costs £1.99 for 500ml vs LUSH’s Sleepy Shower Gel £27.00 for 520g (other sizes at different prices available, but this is the closest weight to the Lidl version).

    Packaging

Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel comes in a plastic bottle with black labelling, and so does the version from LUSH. Both very simple in look but striking in an understated way.

My experience of Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel

This is a product I use in both the bath and the shower. Considering my skin can be sensitive sometimes and easily irritated, this causes no issues. It doesn’t dry out my skin and leaves my skin feeling clean and ready for the next stage once out of the bath or shower. It creates nourishing, creamy bubbles which are long lasting. But it’s the fragrance for me which is the best bit. It’s so relaxing. It’s a gorgeous sweet, modern lavender heavy scent which really helps you to unwind especially at night. Its strong enough to make an impact but not to the point it blows your senses away. I would describe this as one of the best shower gels I’ve EVER used!

    My favourite dupe?

Yes it is! Although I can’t compare this directly with the LUSH version as I’ve never used it, and to be honest I never will. Why would I when Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel is so good and cheap! I know a good product that works for me when I use it and this is it. How many bottles of this have I bought and used since it’s release? I couldn’t even count! It’s not always in stock in my local branch so I grab it when I can.

If you haven’t tried this shower gel yet, I would say please do! Maybe the fragrance of lavender isn’t for you. There are other versions as well such as Honey I’m Home which is INCREDIBLE! But which ever you go for, it’s £1.99 well spent!

  • My New Simple Brightening Gel Cream

My skincare products have been the same for awhile now. Although issues with my skin haven’t got worse and in fact seem to have improved, it’s time for a switch up! Buying new skincare products to give your routine a boost can be costly depending on what you’re replacing, how many products your changing and where you buy them from. But I haven’t had that problem. My latest new skincare product slotted in to my routine is Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream bought from Home Bargains. So…what is it like?

    Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream
    Why did I buy this?

I bought this because I would like my skin to look a little more brighter and less dull. The usual product I use as a face cream deals with moisturising but that’s pretty much it! No other added benefits. I hoped this would deliver something a little more.

What is this supposed to do?

Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream is formulated to brighten tired looking skin. It’s supposed to leave the skin moisturised, look and feel softer and smoother, giving the skin a natural but healthier look. All of this done using a light formulation.

    Cost & size

£2.99 for 50ml. Simple facial moisturisers tend to cost around the £9.99 price point unless on a price promotion.

    Packaging

50ml of cream comes in a pot that’s boxed. Very simple in appearance but appealable to any age or sex. Coloured in white and orange, which reminds me of Revolution Skincare packaging. The difference in colouring of packaging with the Simple ranges makes it easy to identify what sub-range they are from, which is handy.

    Ingredients

Includes – glycerin, niacinamide and ginger root.

    Consistency & fragrance

Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream is white in colour, silky smooth in look and has hold in the pot. To look at it, it looks quite rich. There’s no wobbly or movement to it. But in between the finger tips it has an almost gel like feel to it, very light weight, but has slip. Not watery in consistency. Thicker and heavier than a gel, more light weight than some creams.

Fragrance wise, there isn’t one. Most Simple products don’t include artificial fragrances. So this is ideal for those who don’t want their facial products to have a scent.

    On the face

I use this after cleansing and in the morning before sun cream (yes, I use sun protection ALL YEAR ROUND!). On the fingertips, this feels very light and gel like. When I first used this I thought this wouldn’t be moisturising. But placed onto the skin it immediately felt very moisturising, slightly cooling and protective. The slip in this cream was a richness that was there during application and stayed on the skin afterwards. My face looked moisturised, not dry, or greasy, just hydrated and it felt it too. This feeling didn’t disappear whether that was during the day or overnight. It’s very easy to use too much of this because the texture is misleading. But this is a rich cream without being rich and I love it!

Has this given me a glow?

I’ve only been using this for a few days so can’t see any specific changes in my skin. But what I would say is I enjoy using this, my skin feels supple and feels and looks moisturised, which is the least I expect from a facial moisturiser.

    Recommended?

I really like Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream! It’s rich without being heavy and greasy. It’s moisturising and protective yet sinks in well. Quick and easy to use and I enjoy using this! There’s nothing worse than using products on the face and body and not enjoying the experience. This I really like. So much so after the first time I used it I bought another pot a few days later!

If you want a moisturiser that moisturisers, and you need something that really delivers but isn’t heavy, this could be the one. It’s not a fancy product but it’s a good one. I’m interested to see if this does provide a ‘glow’ that I need, so watch this space!

  • P.Louise Foaming Face Wash Dupes In Home Bargains?

You would have to be living under a rock to not have heard of the brand P.Louise. I discovered them through my teenage daughter when she was obsessed with their lip products. As a brand, they have a large range of skin, body and fragrance products that seemed to be more geared towards a younger market. Packaging is eye catching, products seem to be more on the fun side rather than serious and price points being above average. So I’m not totally surprised to find a foaming face wash in Home Bargains that has a P.Louise-esq look and feel to it. So what is it like?

P.Louise Foaming Face Wash Dupes In Home Bargains
What is this supposed to do?

LPerfect Fun & Foaming Face Wash is formulated to cleanse the skin but in a gentle way. Containing fruit extracts and castor oil, this facial wash is meant to clean without stripping the skin of its natural oils.

    Packaging

This face wash is 150ml in size. It comes in a plastic pump action bottle that has a brush applicator at the top to help apply the wash and perform a mild exfoliation. Brightly coloured, almost child like with cartoon fruits on the labels. It stands out, but geared more for a younger market not for anyone looking for serious skincare.

    Cheeky Cherry Foaming Face Wash
    Different versions?

I spotted two versions of this face wash. One was Cheeky Cherry, the other Wonderful Watermelon. The only differences I could see in the formulations was each had a fruit extract included in its ingredient list: one cherry the other watermelon. I can imagine they both are fragranced in their namesakes, with the colouring of the packaging reflecting the fragrance as well.

How are these similar to P.Louise Foaming Cleansers?

Packaging has a slight look of the P.Louise version. How this is bottled with the applicator is pretty much the same, and the bright labelling could be classified as being inspired by. The fruity aspect of the wash definitely has dupe written all over it, as the foaming face washes from P.Louise is fruity or food based as well.

    Wonderful Watermelon Foaming Face Wash
    Price

    £1.99 for 150ml.

    LPerfect Vs P.Louise

Price: LPerfect £1.99 P.Louise £15.00 (from their website).

Fragrances/versions: LPerfect, 2 (that I’ve seen in Home Bargains, could be more!), P.Louise, 14.

Packaging: Labelling/illustrations looks very cheap and aimed at children from LPerfect. P.Louise much more thought has been put into it’s aesthetics and would appeal to pre teens, teens and young adults. Much more attractive to the eye.

    Will I buy this?

No! Honestly? I don’t find anything about this product appealing. It’s not made for someone like me and definitely NOT for my skin! I wouldn’t buy this for my teenage daughter either because she doesn’t need it. A simple, basic, formulation without colours and fragrances will be just fine for her. But this product will appeal to some out there wanting a more affordable product based on a more expensive brand. Yes, this is cheaper than the PLouise version, but is it any better? I’m not willing to find out!
