  • Budget Friendly 99p Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Facial Wash

I think it’s safe to say that the cost of living right now is hitting most people hard! Ordinary items that at one point were affordable are less so. One area I’ve tried to cut back on is skincare. I LOVE skincare and I enjoy looking after my face, but my credit card doesn’t like to pay for it. So it’s a good job I’ve always been open to cheaper alternatives to get the same skincare jobs done but at a lower price point. I recently bought Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash for 99p for 150ml.

    Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash
    Why did I buy this?

I bought this because we ran out of cleanser. I say WE as in a cleanser for myself and my children. They have a routine of washing their faces in the morning and evening. The problem now is when it comes to this product as soon as I buy it it’s time to replace it. So I thought I would give this a go because the Lacura range is actually decent quality. This cleanser is fragrance and soap free and ideal for sensitive skin. I like this especially for my children and of course I loved the price!

What is this supposed to do?

Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash is designed to gently clean the skin without irritating or stripping it. No fragrance, no soap and no colour means this is supposed to be ideal for sensitive skin but still be an effective cleanser.

    Packaging

150m of face wash comes in a standard, flip topped/bottomed plastic tube. Very basic in design and look. But with the colouring being white and green it reminds me of the brand Simple. So this possibly could be a dupe for their Moisturising Face Wash.

    Fragrance & Look

No fragrance as this is fragrance free. And no colour as it’s colour free. But it does have the typical facial wash texture to it. Liquid but glossy and almost a pearlescent white colour.

    In use

I didn’t need to use too much of this. A blob rubbed into my wet face lathered up well. The lack of fragrance wasn’t distracting and the wash itself was easy to rinse off. It removed the general dirt, grime, eyebrow pencil and sunscreen in the evening effectively, and cleaned my skin well in the morning. I didn’t feel as if it stripped my skin of it’s natural oils but I didn’t feel it was moisturising enough for me.

I’ve found I enjoy using cleansers more and more these days. This particular one not so much. There’s a feeling of using it because it serves a purpose rather than giving me enjoyment in my skincare routine.

    Recommended?

If you are someone who want an affordable facial wash that doesn’t have fragrance or colour, this will do the job! No real issues with your skin and just need it clean, this will do it and will also be a decent product for younger people in the family as well. My daughter uses this with no problem and her skin is normal to oily in some areas. So this could actually be the product the whole family can use. For 99p, Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Facial Wash is ideal for those on a low budget or simply don’t want to spend too much on skincare.

  • March Round Up, What Products Did I Use?

If this year continues to fly by as it has been, it will be Christmas in no time! Another month has disappeared and a new one has begun. March for me was full of new products to try with some being brilliant purchases if you want a pamper but on a budget. So what did I use?

March 2023 Round Up Of Products Used
    Beauty Pro’s 49p Sheet Masks

It’s hard to get a skincare sheet mask wrong, but when it’s right it’s right! For 49p Beauty Pro’s Turmeric Infused Sheet Mask was enjoyable to use, incredibly moisture giving and made my skin feel and look great.

Champneys Health Spa Calming Incense Gift

A form of home fragrance people have used in the past but possibly forgotten about, is the incense sticks. Champneys Health Spa Calming Incense Gift fragranced rooms well but not too strong and overpowering. Easy to use and an interesting alternative to wax based home fragrance products.

Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter

A product that had been gifted to me from UK based wax, body and bath product vendor Glow. This was my first introduction to their new body care range. Amber & Lavender Body Butter may possibly be my favourite fragrance in body butter form I’ve ever used. The melting on the skin texture of this and it’s moisturising action made this a winner and a product I love!

Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter
    Face Facts Ceramide Gentle Cleanser

Face Facts Ceramide Gentle Cleanser is an affordable, ceramide based, fragrance free cleanser which is ideal for sensitive and dry skin. Easy and quick to use and something I’m still using in my daily skincare routine today and will probably repurchase when it finishes.

Bath & Body Works Body Cream In Winterberry Wonder

Although I’ve heard about the brand Bath & Body Works, Winterberry Wonder was the first product from their brand I’ve used. Nicely presented, stunning fragrance but not as rich in texture and as moisturising in action as I hoped it would be. Decent bargain when I bought it in the sale, but not something I would purchase at full price.

Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar From LUSH

Relaxation is a must for me considering how busy my life is. Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar From LUSH is the perfect night time bath product to use to help with general pampering and to aide relaxation. Smells great, foams up beautifully and adds a little colour to the water. Bliss!

Glow’s March Bath & Body Subscription Box

There was so much product in Glow’s March Bath & Body Subscription Box that I’m struggling to use every piece of it! A generous and indulgent set that included products for the bath and body which could be used everyday or for special occasions. Unbelievable value and I can’t wait to use everything in this!

Aldi’s Lacura Lynx Dupe Shower Gels

You have to love Aldi! The amount of dupes that they in their Lacura range has been impressive but very cheeky! Their Lacura Lynx Dupe Shower Gels have been a regular purchase in my house since I discovered them. They now help to keep my teenage son clean, smell nice and save me some money compared to their Lynx counterparts.

    Alsi’s Lacura Men Shower Gels

So that’s my March 2023 round up! Lots of products, lots of fun using them and many have been very affordable which my pocket loves.

  • Saving Money With Aldi’s Lacura Lynx Dupe Shower Gels

Lynx is not my favourite brand. When I think of Lynx it takes me back to being a teenage girl in high school. All the boys, and I mean ALL of them reeked of some form of Lynx body spray. Over 20 years later I now have my 13 year old son having the same, strange addiction to these products that half of my school year had in the 1990’s. With the cost of living and trying to save money, I wanted to see if there were cheaper alternatives available that gave a similar performance and fragrance.

Aldi’s Lacura Men’s Shower Gels in Noir and Desert Heat
    Aldi’s Lacura Men Range

Never failing me with their ‘inspired by’ products, is Aldi. When it was difficult to pick up some Lynx shower products due to stock availability, I noticed they had their own versions. The two that I picked up were in the fragrances of Desert Heat and Noir.

    What are their Lynx counterparts?

Desert Heat is Aldi’s version of Africa. Noir is their version of Lynx’s Black.

    Packaging

The shower gels come in very robust, quite masculine looking plastic bottles. Dark grey in colour, flip top lid to dispense the shower gel and the colouring of the label reflects their dupe counterparts (Desert Heat is red, green and black. Noir black and grey).

    Fragrance

Aldi’s Lacura Men’s Desert Heat Shower Gel is fresh, clean, a little zesty with a touch of muskiness to it. Noir is more woody notes based with a slight fruity hit behind it. Just as clean and fresh as Desert Heat. Do they smell like Lynx? I’ve got both the Lynx and Lacura versions in my bathroom and I would say yes. Not identical but similar.

    Consistency

Both shower gels have a typical shower gel consistency. They are fluid with a little thickness to them. Smooth, clear but both are coloured. Desert Heat is green in colour and Noir a very subtle and pale blue/green.

    In use

Not a chance I was going to shower in these but I did wash my hands in them! They lathered well, gave my hands that clean feel and lightly scented them. As for my son using these, they haven’t irritated his skin or dried his skin out and he uses these daily.

    Size & Price

These shower gels are 300ml in size and cost 55p each. Every time I’ve been in my local Aldi store the stock of these have been decent so not had an issue so far in grabbing a few bottles when needed.

    Does my son like these?

Well he uses them! That’s probably the best indication that he’s happy with these shower gels. There is zero point asking his opinion as I will just get a grunt or ‘whatever’, ‘not bothered’. So if he uses them and I’ve had to repurchase them because a bottle has run out, let’s call it his unofficial thumbs up!

    Recommended?

For the price and size of these I would say yes! You get a great amount of product for the price. The packaging is decent and obviously geared towards the men/boys. Fragrances are very similar to their Lynx counterparts and they clean the skin and leave a slight fragrance to it too. So what more do you want for 55p?

  • December Round Up, What Products Did I Use?

It’s now the perfect time to look back on the products I’ve used over the last 4 weeks, since December is drawing to a close. Some things I’ve enjoyed using more than others. But what I will say is I still had fun trying each of the products I’ve written about this month. So what products did I use in the festive month of December?

Some of the products used in December
Primark’s PS Candy Cane Kisses Bath Bubbles

I’ve bought Bath Bubbles from Primark before and been a little disappointed by them. But Candy Cane Kisses so far has been the best one I’ve used from the store. Not perfect, but great look, size and scent.

Primark’s PS Candy Cane Kisses Bath Bubble
    Lush’s Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb

I haven’t used anything from the bath bomb favourite store Lush in such a long time. Lush’s Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb made me think this was a massive mistake! Cute in appearance, affordable (compared to other bath bombs they sell) and when I say I enjoyed this in the bath I mean it 100%!

    Lush’s Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb
Marks and Spencer’s Shea Butter & Honey Hand Balm

I never thought it would be possible to find budget friendly body products in Marks and Spencer, but I did! Marks and Spencer’s Shea Butter & Honey Hand Balm is a product you can repeat purchase without breaking the bank while keeping your hands in good condition.

    Marks And Spencer’s Hand Balm
    Neom’s Uplifting Hand Balm

I went from one cost extreme to another when it came to hand balms this month! But I was very lucky to be given Neom’s Uplifting Hand Balm rather than buying it and what a lovey gift it was! Pure luxury from it’s packaging, texture and scent.

    Neom’s Uplifting Hand Balm
Primark’s PS Raspberry Ripple Bath Bubbles

My second Bath Bubbles in December from Primark in the form of their Raspberry Ripple fragranced version. Not as good as Candy Cane Kisses but an acceptable bath time treat. Ideal for those who want to keep the cost of bath products low, but not on my repeat purchase list.

Primark’s PS Raspberry Ripple Bath Bubbles
    Aldi’s Lacura Sleep Bath Salts

For 99p, Aldi’s Lacura Sleep Bath Salts was a great purchase. Enough for two baths, aromatic, very relaxing and provided a great start to an evening before bedtime.

    Aldi’s Lacura Sleep Bath Salts
Treacle Moon’s The Gingerbread Unicorn Shower & Bath Gel

I keep forgetting about Treacle Moon, which is naughty of me! They have such good products available that you can afford to use everyday without saving for special occasions. And Treacle Moon’s The Gingerbread Unicorn Shower & Bath Gel falls into this category. A beautifully scented shower and bath gel that screams Winter, which foams up so well in the bath and under £2.00!

Treacle Moon’s The Gingerbread Unicorn Shower and Bath Gel
    Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser

My second ginger based buy in December, but this time Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser was purchased to fragrance my home not clean my body. This didn’t break the bank but I would have happily paid a bit more if the fragrance was stronger.

    Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser

So that’s my round up for December 2022 done and dusted. Except the Neom’s Uplifting Hand Balm which was a present, the total of all these items reviewed came up to…..

    £13.13!
