  • A LUSH Sleepy Shower Gel Dupe In Lidl

    I rarely buy products from LUSH. It’s a treat. Yes, they make and sell some great products. But cost is a massive reason why it’s a considered purchase for me. I’ve never tried their shower gels. At around £17.00 for a 260g bottle I can’t justify that. So when Lidl decided to do their own versions of LUSH shower gels, generously sized AND so much cheaper, I had to try them out! First I tried Honey I’m Home and now I’m currently using Relax shower gel. So what is it a dupe for and what is it like?

    What’s it a dupe of?

    Relax shower gel is a dupe for Sleepy shower gel by LUSH.

    Packaging

    Relax comes in a 500ml size. It comes in a clear, plastic flip top bottle with a mainly black label on it. It’s practical, it’s nothing flash but in a basic way it looks good!

    Look & consistency

    Relax is a vibrant and striking purple colour. It’s thick but pourable and glossy. How this is coloured makes it stand out, even more so because the bottle it comes in is clear so you can see it.

    Fragrance

    I’m a massive fan of some of the LUSH Sleepy products. I’ve not used the shower gel but I have used Sleepy Bubble Bar and Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb. The main thing that I loved about these products was how they smelt. And Relax smells very similar. It clearly has relaxing lavender in this, giving it an aromatherapy feel. But it’s quite a sweet scent with creamy vanilla in this which not only makes it relaxing but comforting as well. I ADORE how this smells!

    In the shower & bath

    I mainly use this in the bath. Under warm running water this foams up beautifully and the bubbles stay in tact, light and airy, for a great amount of time. In fact, there’s still plenty left when I’m ready to get out! Despite the fact this shower gel is purple it doesn’t colour the water as such, but gives it the lightest tint of blue/purple. The fragrance is there from beginning to end of my bathing experience which I love. Using Relax is relaxing, soothing and I enjoy every minute of it.

    In the shower this performs just as well. It lathers up nicely on a sponge. It washes my body very well and fragrances the bathroom. After use in both bath and shower my skin is fragranced only slightly, and not long lasting. It doesn’t dry out my skin or irritate it, which if I’m honest I was worried about.

    The packaging for both is similar. Colour of each shower gel looks the same. Fragrance (I’m assuming the LUSH shower gel has the same fragrance as the other Sleepy products) is also very similar and Relax is just as good. Ingredients list is very different but has a few of the key ingredients that on paper would make these products comparable (oat and lavender). Size wise Sleepy shower gels come in 110g, 260g and 520g whereas Relax comes in only one which is 500ml. Price? If we compare LUSH’s 520g to Relax, it costs an eye watering £26! Lidl’s version? £1.99!

    Recommended?

    I love this shower gel! It does everything I want and need it to do in the shower and the bath and the fragrance for me is everything. This makes this one of my favourite shower gels I’ve EVER used! Great size, great price and overall great product. I will be buying more of this if my local Lidl has it in stock, and you should too if you’re a fan of of the Sleepy range by LUSH!

  • What I Found In A French Lidl Store

    When I was on holiday over half term, my first thought wasn’t going to find a Lidl store to do a supermarket shop. I spent a few days enjoying the delights of Paris with my children and stumbled across a Lidl in a shopping centre. They wanted a drink, I didn’t want to pay a silly price anywhere else, so we went in. I didn’t buy a drink in the end but I did find lots of bath, body and skincare products that we don’t have in the UK. So what did I find?

    In every supermarket you will find shower creams and gels, but would you find them candy floss and cola bottle fragrances? I never have (not cola)…until now! 290ml of sweetly scented shower product housed in a practical but fun looking bottle caught my eye immediately. Cost 2.02 euros each.

    I saw this brand of shower gel in other stores. These shower gels were appealing because of the size (400ml), the fragrances available (vanilla and orange flower) and the label was quite interesting in look too. 2.89 euros each.

    Cien Foot Creams

    There were different foot creams available, with some being Lidl’s own brand Cien. All designed to be very moisturising (although certain versions I think are geared towards more drier skin) containing ingredients such as shea butter. 1.99 euros each.

    This was a HUGE pot of cream designed for dry skin and can be applied to face and body. Such a generous sized product containing various oils and butters. Unfortunately I only saw the price for the facial version which was 3.25 euros for 100ml. And this WAS NOT 100ml, easily 400/500ml! I’m sure whatever the price was it was good value and affordable.

    We may have mascaras in the UK stores but I’ve never seen them, but this French Lidl had their own branded Cien versions. One designed to give volume, the other waterproof and both 2.99 euros each.

    I have no idea what was in this face cream but I wanted to buy it! I imagined it to be a richer textured moisturiser if it’s geared towards older skin. Zero chance to scan and guess what the ingredients were, but for 3.99 if I had the time I probably would have bought it anyway! The packaging made this cream look comforting for the skin and that’s what made me want it.

    Suddenly Fragrances

    The Suddenly fragrances we have in our UK stores, but the biggest difference compared to their French counterpart is the price! These were only 3.99 euros each whereas in the UK are over £5.00! I’ve bought and used one of these fragrances in Lovely and thought the quality was really good. For this price I had to buy another one.

    Think of the fragrances but in a hand cream. There was only one version available, which was Madam Glamour. I LOVED the fact you could get the hand cream with this fragrance. And like the standard Cien hand creams this was priced the same, which was only 1.76 euros!

    Is it worth buying skin and body care products from a Lidl abroad?

    Yes! Firstly, they stock a lot more products than the UK version. There’s a solid and generous mix of Lidl’s own brand of Cien and other brands which gives more choice. The fragrances are imaginative, packaging wise they look more appealing and there’s simply lots of products we just don’t get! What I’ve mentioned in this post is only a few products I spotted quickly with 2 bored teenagers. There was lots more, and I didn’t even get a chance to look at the men’s side! And price? Prices seemed very fair compared to how much product you were paying for. The fragrances were cheaper in France compared to the UK and other products a little more possibly than what we would pay, if we had these products, which we don’t!

    So don’t overlook supermarkets while you’re away on holiday. Go in, have a look around, you maybe surprised!

  • LUSH Dupe? Lidl’s Honey I’m Home Shower Gel

    In the battle of the dupe bath and body care products, supermarket Lidl has recently upped their game. It’s normally Aldi that pushes out their ‘inspired by’ products that resemble well known, more expensive brands. But this time Lidl really have delivered a good range of products, which will look very familiar to many shoppers. One item that I recently noticed and purchased was Lidl’s Honey I’m Home Shower Gel. £1.99 for 500ml, and possibly a dupe for LUSH‘s Honey I Washed The Kids Shower Gel. So what is this product like?

    Packaging

    A very simple tall, clear plastic bottle is what this shower gel is housed in. What makes this bottle stand out is the striking black label. The label makes the product look stylish and more expensive than what it actually is.

    Fragrance

    I was torn between this one and another version, but bought this one because of the scent. It definitely has a sweet honey smell to it, but mixed in with fruit. So it’s sweet but not too sweet and almost has a bakery fragrance to it. It’s comforting, warming, with a hidden light floral hint to it.

    Consistency & look

    This shower gel looks like liquid caramel thanks to the colour it is. Thick but fluid, not clear but opaque. Smooth, shiny and very inviting with it’s name matching the look of this perfectly!

    In the shower

    Lidl’s Honey I’m Home Shower Gel lathered up like a dream on a sponge in the shower. It looked and felt more creamy than airy bubbles, which was a pleasure to use. I didn’t need to use a lot and what I did use did the job of cleaning my skin while the fragrance made it an enjoyable experience.

    In the bath

    A small amount of this shower gel under warm running water created so much foam I was very impressed! Unlike in the shower, in the bath it was definitely more foamy bubbles that were airy, light and fluffy rather than creamy. The shower gel didn’t colour the water, it remained clear, but full of bubbles that stayed in tact for a very long time. The fragrance was incredibly relaxing and comforting and made this bath from beginning to end a great one. In the shower or bath, this product didn’t irritate or dry out my skin, and I felt it performed very well in both.

    Recommended?

    I’m impressed! This is a great shower and bath product! It works equally well in both and I found I liked using this. The fragrance plays a big part in why I liked using this, but it also does what its meant to do and does it well. After using this in the bath I promised myself I need to try the other versions in this range and grab a few as Christmas stocking fillers. Recommended? Yes! This is an affordable, great quality product and whether it’s a dupe or not this is good!

  • New Bath, Shower & Fragrance Dupes in Lidl

    Dupes are a part of everyday shopping. You can find ‘inspired’ by products in everything. From clothing, to home accessories, but more commonly in fragrance, skincare and body care items. I visited my local Lidl last week because they’ve just released ALOT of products that purely by appearance alone could be classified as dupes. So what do they have dupe wise for the bath, shower and body and what brands are they dupes of?

    Hair & Body Perfume Mists

    I spotted hair & body perfume mists, which are dupes of the brand Sol de Janerio. I’ve seen other versions of perfume mists in different stores and shops, but packaging wise this stands out more to me. Lidl’s versions are one of the most appealing and very similar to their original counterparts. Two fragrances were available, in the form of Pistachio & Salted Caramel and Jasmine & Dragon Fruit. 250ml and priced at £3.99.

    Hand & Body Liquid Soap

    A brand I’ve used in the past and loved called L’Occitane En Provence is what Lidl’s new liquid soap product seems to be inspired by. L’Occitane is a French brand, whose packaging is very similar to the Lidl version. Like L’Occitane, the Lidl liquid soap comes in the fragrances of lavender, rose and verbena. £2.99 for 500ml.

    Shea Hand Cream

    Another L’Occitane dupe, based on one of their most iconic products, is their shea buter hand cream. Lidl’s version, again, packaging wise is very similar along with the percentage of shea butter in the ingredients (20%). Only £2.49 for 100ml.

    Shower Gels

    Out of all the products Lidl had to offer, their new shower gels probably grabbed my attention the most. The simple bottle and the black label reminds me of LUSH products. Similar in fragrance types to LUSH? Not sure, as I’m not familiar with their shower products. But smelling 2 out of the 4 fragrances got the thumbs up from me, they smelt really good! These come in Mintilicious Tingle, Honey I’m Home, Dizzy Rose and Relax. £1.99 for 500ml.

    Botanical Bath & Shower Gels

    Lidl’s Botanical Shower Gels come in a variety of fragrances included Rose & Rhubarb and Orange & Bergamot. These are ‘inspired’ by the brand Molton Brown. Molton Brown is a brand I’ve used before, and are well known for luxury bath, shower and body care products. Lidl’s version costs £1.49 for 500ml.

    These were only a few products I found in Lidl, there were MORE! Nicely packaged, good sizes, great smells (from what I got to sniff) and all affordable!
