  • Like A Piece of Art! Geode Bath Bomb From LUSH

For any bath lover, bath bombs are a must for a bathing experience. Although they’re available anywhere on the high street or online, there is one store that is so well known for their bath bombs they require no introduction, LUSH! With their reputation comes a higher than average price tag on their products. So for me LUSH products are a treat not a constant repeat buy. And did I treat myself recently? Yes I did! I bought their Geode Bath Bomb recently from my local store. So what was it like?

    Why did I buy this?

One of their amazing and helpful store assistants recommended this bath bomb. Visually it looked beautiful and very different compared to others being sold in the store. She popped this into a bowl of warm water and I was so impressed with how it looked I was sold!

What’s so special about Geode Bath Bomb?

Geode Bath Bomb is designed to cleanse and purify the skin on the body, along with aiding relaxation of the mind and body.

    LUSH’s Geode Bath Bomb
    How does this look?

The top of it is almost flat. It has irregular, deep purple coloured small salt crystals embedded into it. The bath bomb itself isn’t perfectly formed, and circular from the top down. It has a handmade feel and look to it with slight lumps and bumps to it which makes it look very appealing. It’s colour is almost a pale beige but glistens due to being covered with a light dusting of gold shimmer. Size is quite regular for a bath bomb if not slightly bigger, with a decent weight to it.

    Fragrance

No dominant scent to this bath bomb. I got the tiniest hint of citrus but other than that I couldn’t give a description to what this smells like as I didn’t feel it have much of one.

    In the bath

This bath bomb bobbed, weaved and fizzed in the water immediately. At first you could see it releasing a peach coloured stream into the water along with a small amount of foam. This then turned into different colours such as pink and purple. Not only did this provide colour to the surface of the water, but underneath left trails of a gold shimmer, giving a liquid gold effect. While this bath bomb continued with the visual colour show, it also entertained me by providing audio in the form of popping sounds thanks to it containing popping candy. Very different, fun to listen to and watch and the fizzing of this made it even more special.

    Once the fizzing stopped…

Never have I ever seen a rose gold coloured bath before but I did after using this bath bomb! It was so pretty and pure decadence as it looked like liquid gold. Importantly, it wasn’t an issue cleaning up and the shimmer and colour washed away with a problem. My skin afterwards was normal. No irritation or skin drying out, although I didn’t feel as if this bath bomb added anything to my skin it definitely didn’t take it away.

    Recommended?

It’s a beautiful looking bath bomb which is eye catching and unusual. It could easily have been a chunk of rock carved out showing it’s jewel like insides off the the world. It created a pretty bath that was relatively relaxing but more fun to watch the bath bomb being placed into the water. And the clean up was easy. Only issue is the fragrance. There was barely anything there. A stronger fragrance would have given a better bath because how can something so pretty smell so weak? Would I recommend this? If you like a pretty bath bomb to create a pretty bath then yes. If you want the full bath bomb package then no. It’s not a product I will be buying again but glad I tried it out.

It’s no longer available to buy in store in the UK and I think this was around the £6.00 mark. Definitely worthwhile checking out there other bath bombs to get bath art AND fragrance here.

  • Emily Makes Boutique’s Honolulu Mini Bubble Truffle

Emily Makes Boutique’s Honolulu Mini Bubble Truffle

Instagram is a great place to discover new products and businesses. I recently found Emily Makes Boutique who is a maker and seller of bath, body and wax products. Me being me I took advantage of them having a sale featuring one of my favourite bath products, Bubble Truffles! Perfect opportunity to try out something from a new, small business. A Bubble Truffle called Honolulu has recently been used in my bath. This product was £2.75 but I got it (and others) for half price.

    What is a Bubble Truffle?

Think of a something you pop in the bath which provides foam, fragrance, moisture and sometimes colour, and looks like a scoop of ice cream. That’s a bubble truffle!

    How does this look?

Small but perfectly formed measuring just over 1.5 inches in diameter. A beautiful pastel blue coloured rounded scoop with dark blue specks of colour running through it. Dusted delicately with gold mica pigment, a few small pearlized balls peeping through the top, and a tiny seashell shaped flat decoration piece finishes it off. The truffle although domed has a flat bottom.

    Fragrance

This smells tropical, fruity…think sweet, coconut, pineapple type fragrances but this isn’t sickly and delicately done but obvious. A touch of floral seems to be hidden in there somewhere. This is a gorgeous refreshing and soothing scent which is perfect for this time of the year.

    How to use

    Crumble under warm running water….simple!

    In the bath

Rather than dropping this whole under warm running water I crumbled it. This crumbled so easily. Not dry, as I could already feel this was packed with some moisturising ingredients. As it floated in the bath and got caught up in the water, it turned it from clear to the same beautiful soft blue colour the truffle is, almost tropical sea like. As the water continued to pour from the tap, soft, white foam formed. And by the time the water was turned off, the tub was heaving with bubbles.

    On the skin

In the bath I felt cocooned. Think of a body oil being on the skin outside of the bath, this is what it felt like IN the bath! I touched my skin and it felt as if a protective layer was on it. Not greasy but hydrating, smooth and silky. So out of the bath my skin felt great. No dryness, smallest hint of fragrance and ready ( but not needed ) for body lotion.

I know what I like when it comes to bath products and this ticked all boxes. Appearance wise so sweet and pretty. Performance wise this blew me away and gave me a relaxing and enjoyable bathing experience. Do not let the size of this fool you! The amount of foam this produced was impressive! So a repeat purchase of Emily Makes Boutique for bubble truffles is a definite for me and I really want to try other bath products to, so a massive thumbs up!

  • Lolly & Moo’s Eastern Promise Bubbly Salt Soak

Lolly & Moo’s Eastern Promise Bubbly Salt Soak

Am I a shower or bath person? Both. A quick clean and wake up comes from the shower. A bath in the evening is my time to relax and hopefully look forward to a restful night’s sleep. In the bath I use different types of products, one of which is bath salts. One I’m currently using is Lolly & Moo’s Eastern Promise scented Bubbly Salt Soak.

    Are these normal bath salts?

Lolly & Moo’s Eastern Promise Bubbly Salt Soak not only provides the benefits of salts but also foam, colour and scent. Most bath salts don’t foam, so this is very VERY special!

    Packaging

These salts come in a lidded tub with a re-useable scoop. Since I bought my Bubbly Salt Soak the packaging is changing. Rather than brown (which my salts came in), the biodegradable pots/tubs are now going white.

    How do they look?

These are varied sized grains of purple coloured powder. They don’t have the typical bath salt look to them. This is much more finer, similar to a bath dust. But you can see the tiniest little bits of salt crystals hidden in it.

    Eastern Promise Bubbly Soak
    Fragrance

Fresh, sweet, perfume like ( it’s inspired by a fragrance ), it is amazing! Its got a great strength to it, even more so when circulating in my bathroom which is warm. But its not heady and will make not only your bath smell beautiful but the room itself for a good few hours.

    In the bath

I used a handful of Eastern Promise Bubbly Soak under warm running water. This bubbled up beautifully, while releasing a purple burst of colour into the water.

    FOAM!
    On the skin

While in and out of the bath, this bath product was gentle on my skin. I suffer from psoriasis and this product caused no drying or irritation and was enjoyable to use. Not only did my skin like this but my mind liked this too. This really helped me to relax and merged together two things I love which is bubbles and salts!

    Ingredients

This doesn’t contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which is a synthetic ingredient added to products to create foam. Its cheap and not always kind to the skin, so great to see this not included. Apricot kernel oil and clay is in this which helps to keep skin soft and supple. And can’t forget the salts! A mix of Epsom and Dead Sea salts to help ease aches, soreness, relax muscles and improve the condition of the skin.

    Recommended?

Totally recommended! I love salts but always thought if they foamed it would be magic…then BINGO, this came along! And the fact it comes in a variety of scents makes this even better. For 275g of bubbly soak at a cost of £5.75 is god value and a must for any bath lover!

  • Not LUSH! Lolly & Moo Crystal Ball Bath Bomb

These days you can buy bath bombs pretty much from anywhere. Department stores, discount stores, small independent businesses/vendors, even corner shops! And of course you have well known stores whose business is based on what you put on your body and what you use in the bath or shower. One of my latest bath time treats pulled out of my beauty wax stash comes from one of my favourite small businesses Lolly& Moo. I bought the whipped soap, so it seemed only fair to buy Crystal Bath Bomb as well.

Lolly & Moo’s Crystal Bath Bomb
    Appearance

Size wise this is more jumbo than standard. Definitely bigger than the usual bath bombs as they are so much more substantial and I struggle to hold this within the palm of one hand. Beautifully coloured! Has what I would call a galaxy look to it. Purples, blues in various different shades running around it giving that type of effect with a little silver sparkle finishing it off. Very striking!

    Fragrance

Same as its whipped soap sister, floral, clean, slight citrus and musk, so if you have tried the soap this is its perfect match. Inspired by a V&R fragrance which would make this ideal for the perfume lovers out there.

    In the bath

Popped under warm running water, the fusion of colour and water is stunning! The colours on the bath bomb is what you get in the bath, and then they all run together to give the water a rich, deep and dark purple colour. Before getting to that point this does produce foam, which lasted for me quite some time.

    Surprises?

Well its not the size it is for no reason! Inside this beautiful mass is a secret. A hidden semi precious stone in the centre is revealed once the bath bomb disappears. Honestly, its so much better than opening up a Kinder egg! Not all of these bath bombs have the same stone in the middle, they are varied, which makes opening these up even more interesting and exciting.

    Recommended?

Yes! If you were to ever go for a bath bomb that was special, unique and striking, this is the one! Its big, beautiful, smells amazing and kind to the skin. And for £5.00 it’s great value for money for a treat for yourself or someone else. Unfortunately, this bath bomb is no longer available from this business but it just shows quality bath bombs are available from many places.
