  • Is Primark’s £1.50 Bath Fizzer Good Value?

Would I call myself a bit of a bath bomb snob? I love baths and whatever goes into it I want it to be good in quality and look. But quality doesn’t always have to come at a cost. So what I try to do is not discount the cheaper bath bombs or fizzers out there and be open minded. And this is why I’ve bought some bath products from Primark, including their Guava Peach Bath Fizzer. £1.50 for 200g.

Primark’s PS Guava Peach Bath Fizzer
    Why did I buy this?

I find myself wandering around the beauty section in Primark more and more every time I visit my local store. The bath bombs/fizzers and bubble bars always look quite appealing, and this one caught my attention because of it’s look and size.

    How does this look?

Hexagon in shape and absolutely MASSIVE! Over 2 cms in depth and over 10 cm across. This bath fizzer is in a cute shade of purple, with the middle of it covered in what appears to be salt granules. These are in three different colours, which are purple, orange and yellow. Quite a simple design but very eye catching.

    Fragrance

I’m not going to lie, I’m quite disappointed with the lack of scent with this one. What I got was a chalky scent, that powdery smell you can get if you sniff a bath bomb. There is the smallest hint of fragrance but it’s not really obvious. Slightly fruity but honestly pretty insignificant.

    In the bath

I popped this on top of an already run, warm bath. This spun around releasing foam from the top and it’s sides, and slowly turned the clear water into a shade of blush pink. I didn’t expect it to do much in the water but what it did do I liked and enjoyed watching it.

I did notice the fragrance of this was slightly stronger in the water than before it was used, but not by much.

Sitting in the bath with this bath fizzer, I didn’t feel it added to my relaxation physically or mentally. I probably enjoyed this more watching it without me being in the bath than being in it. It didn’t add much to my bathing experience.

My skin has been temperamental recently so was concerned this bath fizzer would irritate or dry my skin out in some way. It did neither. It added nothing to the skin (fragrance, moisture) but took nothing away from it as well.

    Disappointments?

If this had a proper fragrance to this I think this bath fizzer would have been so much better. How can something look so pretty but not have the scent to match?

    Recommended?

There are different types of bath bomb/bath fizzer uses. One type will throw anything in the bath, even if it sounds and looks like a brick and they want something cheap and cheerful. The other goes for what it looks like and is happy with coloured water as the end result. And there are others who want something that gives them joy from the moment they look at it, from when it performs in the bath and provides them with a sensory experience once they slip into the bath tub. This bath fizzer isn’t for the last person. If you want something that looks nice, colours the bath, does a bit of a dance and colours water get this. Don’t want to spend £4.00 plus on a bath bomb and go cheap? This ticks the box. But if you want something special, spend more and buy a better quality bath fizzer or bath bomb from somewhere else.

  • Shein’s Two Tone Rose Bath Bomb

Clothes shopping is something I’m going to be doing constantly now I have a pre-teen on my hands. Her love of the online shop Shein is evident on my credit card. The last order I put in for her I made a discovery, they sell bath bombs! Am I the only person who didn’t know this? As usual my love for a pampering bath got the better of me, so while making an order recently I thought I would add a bath bomb to it. The one I chose was Two Tone Rose for £3.50.

Shein’s Two Tone Rose Bath Bomv
Why did I order this one?

Curiosity. Plain and simple. Now I discovered they sold bath bombs and bubble bars, I had to think, were they actually any good? Only way to find out is to buy and try one surely? This bath bomb was chosen because it looked pretty and had good reviews from past buyers.

    Packaging

I didn’t expect this to be packaged in anything, so was pleasantly surprised to see it came boxed. A lovely pastel coloured box with a simple rose design shape on the front was what this floral bath time goodie came in. The bath bomb itself came shrink wrapped as I thought it would be. So the box was a nice touch.

    How does it look?

A really generous sized bath bomb as it nearly covers the palm of my hand. It’s basic shape is of a rose. It’s quite thick in depth but flat, so this would be the perfect bath bomb to cut in two if you didn’t want to use this in one go. On the top you can see the moulding and shape of a basic rose shape, and the bath bomb itself is pink in colour. What makes this even more pretty and floral in appearance is the fact there are dried pieces of flowers dotted all over the top.

Turn the bath bomb over and it’s flat and lime green in colour. Why lime green? I didn’t think it added much to how this looks, and would have been better being a shade of pink or purple or even an off white. Still overall a sweet looking bath bomb but the contrasting green shade stumped me.

    Fragrance

Rose! Straight up, floral ROSE! It’s floral, it’s feminine and it’s quite strong! I could smell it when it was in the box and I could smell it out of the box. For me, I think the scent is a little old fashioned. It could be more modern and pretty in scent mixed with something else. Do I like it? I don’t despise how this smells but I’m not a fan of rose or dated floral scents.

    In the bath

I popped this onto a bath already filled with warm water. It fizzed lightly and created a little foam while it danced around slowly over the water. To be fair, it took a good amount of time to totally dissolve as I wondered off to get something and then came back. The dried flowers dispersed throughout the water and the water itself turned into a subtle yellow colour. I would have preferred the water to be soft pink in colour because looking at it made me think of pee!

When I added more hot water to the bath, as it got a touch cold for my liking, it actually created some bubbles. They didn’t last long but I wasn’t expecting any bubbles so it was a nice surprise.

I thought the fragrance would be way too strong in the bath but it was just right. In fact, I didn’t mind it. It was very much there and had a decent strength to it which remained throughout my bathing experience.

What surprised me about this bath was I actually found it very relaxing, despite my loathing of rose as a fragrance. I sat there, I pondered on the meaning of life while I scrolled through my phone and overall was very chilled.

    My Skin

No irritation, no issues at all in regards to drying out. Absolutely nothing! Which if I’m honest was my main concern. My psoriasis is flaring up in a small area or two at the moment, which means these patches are naturally itchy. And this bath bomb didn’t make it worse.

    The Clean Up

Anytime I see a bath product containing flowers or buds I do wonder if it’s going to be a pain cleaning the bath up. This wasn’t. There wasn’t loads of dried flowers on the top of this bath bomb. It felt as if they were more for decoration, but there was still plenty there if you like that type of thing. And getting rid of them afterwards was easy and no issue at all.

    Recommended?

I’m glad I tried this out. If I didn’t I think I would have jumped to the conclusion this would be rubbish which it isn’t. It’s price is reasonable and for what you get, the size and look, is actually good value. Very pretty (although there was zero need for it to be green underneath), it did create somewhat of bath art in it’s most basic form and if you love rose this was a rose lover’s dream. So would I recommend this? Yes I would, if what I’ve mentioned are things you like. But if you hate bits in your bath and have a hatred for rose then no. Would I order this again? No, purely because rose isn’t my ideal fragrance but I thought the quality of this was decent and would happily try others from Shein.

  • Druid And The Witch’s Aromatherapy Bath Salts

I am a massive fan of bath salts! I’ve used them when when my skin has been been problematic with psoriasis. They’ve been helpful with itching and general discomfort of my skin. When my muscles have been sore after a work out or a very physical day at work, salts get thrown into my bath. But many a time I use them just to help me unwind. They give me a different bathing experience compared to the use of a bath bomb, bath cream or soak. So I was happy to find in my stash Peppermint Bath Salts by Druid And The Witch. When bought, this cost me £3.00 for 200g.

Druid and The Witch’s Peppermint Bath Salts

Why did I use this? I hurt myself during a workout! Feeling very sorry for myself and sore ( thank you pulled calf muscle! ). I really wanted something in my bath that wasn’t just bubbles and fragrance. I needed something that would help my mind and body relax, and I thought this would be ideal.

Packaging. The salts lived happily in a clear plastic packet, with the scent and ingredients listed on a label on the front.

Consistency & look. Firstly, these are not your typical white/clear crystal like bath salts. These are blue. Not just one shade of blue I could see at least 2. A light blue and then a slightly darker one. You can tell these are salts but you do have to look carefully, because they seem smaller than the usual ones you can normally purchase. For me, these look part bath dust part salts which is quite intriguing to see.

Scent. Definitely minty! Minty and incredibly fresh. Reminds me of the scent of certain sweets that are peppermint flavoured because this isn’t as harsh or eye watering as pure, true peppermint oil as an example ( although it does contain it ). It doesn’t smell as if it’s mixed with any other fragrance so true to scent.

In the bath. I poured all of this sachet under warm running water, and straight away it turned the water from clear to a gorgeous bluey green colour. Super pretty super inviting! A little foam was produced along with the colour but not loads, very minimal and disappeared soon after. I found the fragrance to be there straight away. And as I found it when I first smelt it in the packet, this fragrance didn’t smack me in the face strength wise. It was there but not overpowering. The bath time was relaxing and pleasant. It felt and seemed very much like a bath soak.

On the skin. No irritations and didn’t dry out my skin.

Something to add. When I ordered this through a rep, I can’t remember whether these were supposed to be foaming bath salts or not ( the label just says bath salts ).

Would I buy this again? Possibly. What I would like is try a different fragrance. For me, the current fragrances aren’t as varied as what I would like and would want something a little more unusual. But they are traditional and typical when it comes to aromatherapy inspired scents.

Recommended? Although this is a nice bath salt the majority of people would probably prefer to grab a scented one off a supermarket shelf. You would get more in weight for your money. Size wise, you could get between 500g and 1kg in a packet or tub, which would give between one and four baths at a push. Price and ingredients wise would vary of course, but scented bath salts can be bought for the same price as this but get more salt for your pound. So for the amount and price and if on a budget, shopping around to get a better deal would be a good idea.

If size doesn’t matter to you and you fancy this as a bath time buddy, you can order yours here ( listing states these are foaming salts ). Not loving peppermint? No problem! These salts are available in a variety of fragrances including Sweet Orange, Lavender and Geranium.

  • The Rose and Thistle Wax Patisserie’s Bath Bomb Brittle Glow

If you love spending quality time in the bath I’m guessing you will love bath bombs. What is there NOT to love about them? The beauty about these is they now come in so many different shapes, forms and fragrances, the choice is crazy! One such form is called a bath brittle. Last year I bought a selection of bath brittles from The Rose and Thistle Wax Patisserie including Glow. Each bath brittle was £4.00 each but I bought them discounted at half price.

The Rose and Thistle Wax Patisserie’s Bath Brittle Glow

Why did I buy this? I’ve bought wax melts from The Rose and Thistle before so was excited to find they sold bath products too. At the time, there was a sale, and I saw these and thought they would make amazing gifts for birthdays and Christmas for friends. So I bought them! I didn’t save many for myself, but I did keep hold of this one so I could try it out as I liked the sound of the scent and look of this particular one.

Packaging. This came in a small ( I say small it’s as big as my hand! ), rectangular packet with a clear window so you can see the brittle within it. The Rose and Thistle logo is on the label, along with mention of the maker of this product ( Olee Cometics ). On the back is the ingredients list.

Appearance. It’s funny how sometimes the most simple things can be stunning! Brittle in bath bomb form or even wax form, tends to be quite flat. But made up of irregular and different sized shapes. Jagged edges with a homemade, hand crafted look to it. Glow Bath Brittle is off white in colour, with a the smallest drizzle of very fine gold glitter on the top. It makes this look so inviting!

Scent. Love! Very perfume like. Floral, with the smallest amount of musk and citrus making this a gorgeous scented bath product!

In the bath. I popped in two thirds of the bath brittle, throwing in each piece individually. What each piece of brittle did was give a small audible and physical fizz as it hit the warm running bath water. And straight away, slowly but surely, they created lots of fluffy white bubbles in the tub. The fragrance was there straight away. Not only did it fill my bathroom but the scent traveled downstairs through my hallway, which made that area smell glorious!

On the skin. Non drying, non irritating which of course is a must! I don’t recall if there was any scent left on the skin, but my skin ( and my mind ) enjoyed this very much.

Recommended? 110%! Loved this! I’m secretly gutted I gave so many as gifts and didn’t keep more for myself! Fabulous scent, lots of bubbles and very kind to my skin. And as a gift it looks different to a bath bomb or fizzer so very pleasing on the eye. Good amount of brittle included ( 1 to 2 baths worth ) and simple but effective packaging. I would buy this again in a heart beat!

Now…here comes the bad news…While I was writing this post there was a sale on all bath products on The Rose and Thistle’s website and this has beauty sold out! The sale still continues and there are a few bath products left but super limited. Visit the website here, see what’s available and BUY!
