  • Miss So? Midnight Magic Oriental Vanilla & Praline Perfume Mist

I don’t think there are many people who would disagree with this comment, but smelling good is important. It’s like adding icing on top of a cake, it just finishes off a person. Fragrance of any sort whether its on myself, in my home or car, really helps my mood and how I generally feel. So it should come as no surprise that I have one or ten body mists floating around my bathroom, which I pick and use depending on what I want to smell like. One on my current rotation is Miss So?’s Midnight Magic Perfume Mist in Oriental Vanilla & Praline scent. Bought from Superdrug for £2.98 ( usually price £5.99 ).

Why this one? I buy body mists regularly because they are a lot cheaper than actual perfumes. I can use them as little or often as I like without worrying about the cost of replacing them. This one I opted for because I had never tried this mist and this particular fragrance. It was on sale at half price, and with the fragrance containing my loved vanilla I thought I would naturally like it.

Packaging. Very cute. Not much different from a body spray in regards to the bottle and how its housed e,g shape and lid. Bottle is soft pink in colour. The brand and fragrance name simply put in black and white which gives it a clean, stylish and modern feel to it with relevant details/information on the back.

Scent. This is made for me! It has that familiar vanilla smell to it. A little sweet, creamy, almost bakery like. There’s also a hit of what I can only describe as toffee or fudge like in scent, but its not massively obvious but there. And the tiniest splash of floral finishes it off. Not too sweet but great for those who love sweet scented fragrances.

Strength & longevity. Strength was light. I could smell it as I applied it and when I sprayed it over myself e.g clothes. But I never found it to be that strong I could just give myself a little spritz and off I went. To get the desired strength I would spray ALOT of this on myself. Longevity could have been better too. I didn’t really notice the smell throughout the day. If it was there it was very very light. If I had the time while at work I would reapply this but I never do. So strength and longevity for me could be improved on and a little disappointing.

Recommended? I liked the scent of this and the price when on offer was good value. But I needed this to be punchier and linger more. Now, I take on board the fact this is a body mist and not a perfume so I never expected too much. But I’ve had products like this before and they’ve been stronger, so for me I wouldn’t buy this particular one again. BUT I would happily try this in another version such as the Eau Fraiche or something from a different fragrance family to see if that makes a difference.

I wouldn’t recommend this to someone who wants a strong, long lasting scent. But for a bakery lover fragrance wise wanting something light and not heavy, this might right up your street! Still on a half price deal at £2.98 ( at time of writing this post ), you can visit your Superdrug or order online here for your sweet scented treat.

  • Luxury Scented Nuxe’s Prodigieux Eau de Parfum

Fragrances. I think it’s safe to say most of us love a good body mist, eau de toilette, eau de parfum or a body spray. Whatever form it comes in we buy them and use them either daily or save for special occasions. I’m probably a bit of a hoarder when it comes to this type of product. So I’m not surprised I forgot I even owned Nuxe Prodigieux Eau de Parfum. I originally bought this in a gift set when it was on sale after Christmas, which also contained a shower oil and body lotion.

    Why did I buy this?

Nuxe skincare, body products and fragrances aren’t the cheapest of products. So to get a gift set that contained products that I wanted to try and at a great price isn’t something I was going to pass up.

    Packaging

30ml of eau de parfum is housed in a thin glass bottle with a gold lid. The bottle itself is quite simple in look but beautiful, and mirrors the style of the box it comes in. Both have an ombre effect, as the base is a gorgeous copper colour and gets lighter to the point it’s clear in the bottle but the box is gold. Elegant, sophisticated and quite expensive in look.

    Nuxe Prodigieux Perfume
    Fragrance

This is what I would call quite a classic scent. It’s feminine, floral with the tiniest hint of citrus, musk and vanilla. The floral element for me stands out more. It’s not all fresh and flowery as it has a warmth to it, This makes it a richer, heavier scent rather than a light and whimsical one.

    Strength & Longevity

I assumed this would be very strong and possibly linger in an overpowering way regardless of how much I used. Strangely enough this wasn’t the case at all. I could smell this all day when I wore this in work but it was subtle and pleasant, and didn’t make me feel like a walking fragrance counter from a department store. So strength is medium with great longevity.

    Recommended?

This is not only a beautifully presented fragrance, but it smells just as good too. It would appeal to many people of different ages. But ideal for those who want a fragrance to smell traditional, timeless and not dictated by trends or gimmicks. I’m so glad I took the plunge and got this fragrance. Compared to other fragrances in my collection, this one I don’t feel would date and would be quite timeless so this gets a massive thumbs up from me.

Available direct from Nuxe here for £30.00.

  • The Luxurious Philosophy’s Pure Grace Whipped Body Crème

Becoming a mum means disposable income rarely is spent on myself. Before kids I would spend £20.00 on a body oil and not even flinch. Now, that £20.00 is more likely to go on toys or clothing for my children rather than on expensive lotions and potions for me. But I still love good quality products. The key is be more savvy with how much money I spend on them. One brand (definitely not considered a budget one) I love is called Philosophy. I’ve got a few of their products stashed away including their Whipped Body Crème in their Pure Grace fragrance.

Philosophy’s Pure Grace Whipped Body Creme
    Why did I use this?

I’ve used Philosophy’s Whipped Body Crème‘s before. It’s one of those products if I don’t use it for awhile I forget how good it is. Then I use it and can’t put it down! And that’s why I started to use this again, because I missed it!

    Philosophy The Brand

If you haven’t heard of Philosophy they are a US company that creates and sells a variety of beauty products that range from fragrances to body lotions, face creams to cleansers and more.

    Packaging

120ml of product is in a medium sized jar finished off with a screw top lid. Writing in black on the label e.g brand and product name, ingredients etc. Not fuss, very classy and totally unisex.

    Texture

This whipped body crème isn’t thin or runny as a body lotion. But it’s not thick or emollient like as a body butter. It seems to hold its shape in the tub, but when I take this out to use it’s a very whipped, light and airy soft consistency.

    On the skin

This was very easy and quick to rub in. I didn’t need to use too much. Once it was rubbed into my skin it felt soft and smooth. My skin had a healthy, hydrated sheen to it which wasn’t greasy or oily in look or feel. I could put my clothes on straight away and I was good to go. Considering this wasn’t thick and body butter like, it was super moisturising and my skin loved it!

    Fragrance

Imagine that fresh, clean, just come out of the shower or washed your hair type of scent and this is it. To say it smells like soap and water doesn’t do it justice but it sort of describes it so well.

    Let’s Talk Price!

This isn’t cheap. For a jar twice the size of mine, direct from Philosophy, it costs £29.00. I didn’t pay this as I bought it in a set. But with all the other pieces that it came with made it great value. A premium product from a brand that sits in department stores in the US and the UK will have a price tag that relates to this.

    Recommended?

You can spend as much or as little as you like on a body product, it’s whatever suits your budget and your needs. Despite the fact this isn’t for everyone’s taste price wise, this really is a beautiful product. The fragrance is AMAZING! The texture is luxurious and deceptively moisturising on the skin. This does everything you want from a body moisturiser and a little bit more. So if you were looking for something special and willing to pay for it, this would be a brilliant buy.

    • TOP TIP! Do what I did and look out for this in a gift set to get the best value. This product and others from the Pure Grace range can be bought direct from Philosophy, QVC, Boots just to name a few places. Happy shopping!

  • Zoella Gelat’eau Body Mist

    Zoella Gelat’eau Body Mist

Do you purchase designer fragrances regularly? I can’t remember the last time I bought a branded/fashion eau de toilette or eau de parfum. It’s a considered purchase for me. Despite the fact I love to smell nice, I purchase fragrances that are affordable. Lower cost means I can buy a wide range of fragrances at a fraction of the price of just one designer branded one. This gives me a variety of scents potentially at my disposal. Body mists are a great way of getting a fragrance hit without breaking the bank. I recently added to my collection Zoella’s Gelat’eau Body Mist from Home Bargains at £1.49 for 45ml.

    Why did I buy this?

It was a few days before my family holiday and I thought it would be nice to take a new fragrance with me. The packaging caught my eye first, then the price. I didn’t get a chance to smell this but I guessed this would be quite a youthful and uplifting scent.

    Who is Zoella?

Zoella is a social media personality. She has a beauty range on the high street which is very popular, so already has solid background in this field.

    How doe this look?

Simple and sweet in look, but looks more expensive than what it costs. White bottle, copper coloured lid, peach, grey and copper/gold coloured writing. This screams to me something aimed at a younger market. Even though this is a body mist, it’s presented more like a perfume which I like.

    Zoella Gelat’eau Body Mist
    Fragrance

Its an effervescent, fruity and sweet fragrance. This is similar to things that are scented with one of my all time favourite smells, which is rhubarb ( but not quite! ). Not sickly or overpowering, and somehow remains quite fresh and quite clean.

    Strength & Longevity

Strength wise this is light to medium. This is my go to fragrance to wear for work and this does have to work quite hard as my job is quite physical. If I spray this on in the morning I can still smell it in the afternoon. Although it’s not as strong as when it’s first applied, it’s still there. So this lasted very well.

    Recommended?

Definitely! If you love your fragrances to be fruit or sweetie based, this one is for you. It’s youthful, energising and perfect to wear during the Summer months and for day time use. If you are lucky to see this for the price I paid in a discount store, its worthwhile buying a few of these as its not a regular stock item on the high street.

This is what I call affordable luxury!
