  • Christmas 2021 Wax Melt Advent Calendar From Fragrantasia

Christmas comes and goes in a blink of an eye. And then we all deal with the aftermath, right? Too much food and possibly too much drink. Parents walking on bits of Lego and the paper recycling bin overflows within 10 seconds. So as I throw out the last empty gift boxes and bags, it gives me a chance to reflect on the advent calendars I bought this year for myself. One by Fragrantasia which contained wax melts, and Bomb Cosmetics calendar which contained bath blasters and soaps. Were they any good? Something to repurchase next year? Let’s focus today on Fragrantasia’s Wax Melt Advent Calendar to find out the answer..

Fragrantasia’s Wax Melt Advent Calendar 2021
    Fragrantasia’s Wax Melt Advent Calendar

This is the second year I’ve bought a wax melt advent calendar from this vendor. I enjoyed the first one and I didn’t hesitate to purchase this for 2021. As a wax melt lover I would be crazy not to purchase this type of advent as it’s my idea of home fragrance heaven!

The Look. Firstly, this is different to last years which is great. You don’t want a repetition of what you’ve had before. In keeping with the current craze for gonks (which this had on the front of it), it was cute in design, rectangular in shape and overall presented very well.

    Day 6. Tangerine.

What did I get? 25 doors which held 25 wax melts behind them, with number 25 having an exceptionally big door which made me think how big IS this wax melt? Each wax melt was fragranced differently. At the time Fragrantasia had two advents available. One containing their best seller’s fragrance wise and the other falling into the more traditional side of Christmas or winter scents, with a few everyday loved fragrances thrown in to add to variety. I opted for the traditional version.

    Day 6. Dragons Breath.

The Melts. I was super impressed with these. Size wise a touch bigger than last years so a substantial amount of wax. Perfect size to pop into a wax warmer, no more was needed. Day 25 wax melt though was different. It was as big as the palm of my hand which made it an even special wax melt to see and would provide hours and hours of fragrance. This made Christmas Day’s opening even more exciting! Each melt looked different whether that was in regards to colour, impressions on them or the addition of glitter and/or shapes. I loved this! It shows time and care put into the making of these which could easily have all been white and plain. Surely that would’ve been the easiest and quickest thing to do? But not as interesting on the eye for the opener.

    Day 16. White Christmas.

Fragrance. I would love to list my favourites but genuinely I can’t remember all of them because there were loads! There was a mix of bakery based scents, floral, fruity, fresh and clean. What I noticed was there was no scent that was too much strength wise or too heady.

It’s hard to please everyone but I imagine most people would have liked the scents this contained because they were varied. Scents included were Let Them Eat Cake (LOVED this one!), Baby Powder, Snow Fae, Caramel Snowflake (oh loved this one too!), Avobath, First Snow and Purple Rain to name just a few. Out of all 25 scents there was only one I didn’t like, but it’s a scent I’ve never liked anyway to be honest. But the rest I enjoyed melting.

Longevity wise these lasted so long. I couldn’t melt them daily as they would last for hours. The fragrances filled the rooms they were in well and smelt fabulous. Each one had the perfect strength to them dependant on the type of fragrance family they belonged too. All were noticeable. Some became stronger as they melted, some were more BAM straight away! Performance wise all great in my opinion.

    Day 25. Christmas Day. Gingerbread.
Would I buy this in 2022?

If Amy (the owner) makes these next year I’m putting my name on the list for sure! I enjoyed this so much. The quality was there in regards to look, fragrance and strength. This cost £25.00 but genuinely I think it was worth it. Only niggle I can think of was about the design of the calendar. It was very fiddly getting the wax out of each section. But that’s about the actual calendar structure itself not the wax, so hopefully something easier will be used next year.

Any wax melt fan needs one of these in their lives when it comes to the festive period. What I found was there are some scents I’ve never tried before and this was the perfect time to sample them, and now they are on my list to buy in a bigger form! If you want to try out wax from Fragrantasia, they are taking a well earned break now but will be back in January ready to service the fragrance needs of you wax lovers. Website is off at the moment, but you could always join their friendly Facebook group here where they share their daily melts.

  • Christmas Advent Calendars For The Bath & The Home

It’s November. I can type the word CHRISTMAS without displaying a nervous twitch. My heart finally can embrace this time of year, so it seems a good time to talk about something most people buy for the start of the festive season, which is an advent calendar. And who doesn’t love them? Totally acceptable to eat a piece of chocolate at 7am before school or work. Sampling the delights of various flavoured gins daily and wolfing down a mix of cheese any cheese board would be proud of! Yes please! Advent calendars are popular, and more imaginative than ever in regards to what they contain. But I’m going to focus on areas closer to my heart (rather than stomach), which is bath bombs and wax melts. So guess what I’ve bought myself? A wax melt advent calendar from Fragrantasia, and a bath bomb advent calendar from Bomb Cosmetics.

Fragrantasia’s Wax Melt Advent Calendar & Bomb Cosmetics Bath Bomb Advent Calendar

    Fragrantasia’s Wax Melt Advent Calendar.

I love wax melts, and discovered advent calendars containing these a few years ago. I opted to purchase Fragrantasia’s for Christmas 2021 because I bought one last year and loved it! Not only that, but I am a regular user of their wax which I can say is of an excellent quality. So a no brainer purchasing this.

Standard rectangular shaped advent which this year has the ever popular gonk image on the front. Looks fun and festive but not taking itself too seriously or too traditional appearance wise. Very much on trend with it’s appearance.

25 doors hold a different wax melt behind it. All fragrances are different, so no duplicates here. The first 24 days will contain a sample size of wax which will be the perfect size and amount to pop into a warmer, and will provide a few hours of fragrance. But door number 25 is a special and big one, because it’s keeping what I think to be a full size piece of wax ready to discover and melt.

Fragrantasia’s Wax Melt Advent Calendar 2021

Fragrantasia have two advent calendars available. One containing traditional Christmas scents for those who want to get into the festive fragrance mood, and also one containing their best selling fragrances. Ideal for those who want more of a general mix of scents and not too concerned about them being themed. I opted for the traditional Christmas one because I want to be more like Elf than The Grinch this year, and I love these scents anyway!

So how much is this box of waxy goodies? £25.00 plus p&p. And yes, you can buy wax melt calendars on the high street for less but I now the quality I get with this brand and will not be disappointed! Plus loving hand poured and packaged by a one woman company rather than a factory, so I now which one I would rather choose! If you want one of these please hurry up as these are close to selling out. Check out the traditional Christmas version here, and the best sellers version here. Your home will thank you in December!

    Fragrantasia’s Wax Melt Calendar 2020

    Bomb Cosmetics Advent Calendar.

I really wanted a bath bomb or bath product advent calendar this year. I’ve never had one before and I knew I would love opening each day wondering what was behind each door. So I did find one with a vendor I love but it sold out! So doing a quick search I found Bomb Cosmetics advent on a special price on Amazon so thought let’s give it a go! I’ve had bath bombs, fizzers and soaps from them before so had a good idea what to expect quality and style wise so why not?

This advent calendar is shaped traditionally but not styled traditionally at all! A brightly coloured shade of pink makes this stand out. Each door has a simple but cute outline of a present shape on the front. It’s important to note that there are 24 doors rather than 25.

Bomb Cosmetics Bath Bomb Advent Calendar

So what will this calendar contain? This doesn’t just contain bath bombs. If you want to be sneaky you can look on the back of the calendar because it mentions the ingredients and name of each product. It doesn’t tell you which product is behind which door thankfully! But what you will get is a mix of soaps and bath blasters which is what they call their bath bombs. Just having a quick glance they all seem different in fragrance and type so lots of variations for the opener. Important point to make, these products won’t be full size and are minis. If they were full size the box would be massive and so would the price tag!

When I bought this it was on a special deal of the day price down from £19.99 to £12.10. AND at the time of writing this post it still has that special price! Very affordable but would suggest to order sooner rather than later if you fancy it. Link can be found here.*

So have you bought your advent calendars yet and what type? Please don’t mention if you have bought a gin one because that will upset me way too much!

*This contains an affiliate link which gives me a little commission if you purchase the product mentioned but at no cost to you.

  • Fragrantasia’s Sweet Heart Wax Chunk Pot

If you are someone who likes using home fragrance products, are their certain fragrance families that you really like? It’s rare that if you burn a candle, or use a reed diffuser, that you aren’t bothered about what type of scent it’s giving off. We all have our own tastes because fragrance is a personal thing. There are a few I’m not too keen on, but thankfully many more I like. And I think this is why Amy at Fragrantasia, sent me the selection of wax melts and wax pots that she did. Included in this box of goodies was Sweet Heart Wax Chunks Pot.

Fragrantasia’s Sweet Heart Wax Chunk Pot

    Why did I melt this?

Not only do I have a sweet tooth in regards to food, I also have a love of sweet scents. From it’s name alone I assumed it would fall into this category and I hoped it would be based on a certain packet of sweets available in the UK. Only way to find out was to melt it so I did!

    What’s a wax chunk pot?

Some wax melts come in pots, so they are literally poured into them in liquid form and then left to set. A wax chunk pot is the same think BUT there are at least two elements to these. One being actual chunks of wax, which tend to be fragranced in one scent. And then on top of this is an overpour of wax which is in another fragrance. This giving it the name of a wax chunk pot.

    The Look.

I am a sucker for a wax chunk pot! Never have a found one that wasn’t appealing. In Sweet Heart, the main wax is a very soft shade of lilac. Plain, no glitter, totally smooth. What you see breaking out of the surface is decent sized mid pink coloured chunks of wax. There is nothing sparing about these shapes! This wax chunk pot is filled with them. Not only can you see a good amount creeping through the top, but looking at the bottom and the sides of the pot itself, you can see many more embedded into the wax.

    Fragrance.

I expected a similar scent to the sweets Love Hearts. What I got was something similar but with a twist and much better if I’m honest. I got the fizzy sweety like aspect of this. But then what struck me was the deep, dark scent of cherries. This made it have so much depth and gave it a massive hit of the fruities! Unusual, addictive, well balanced and fun to sniff!

    In melt.

My favourite bit with a wax chunk pot! I used just under a third of this in 2 warmers (one in the kitchen on one day, the other in the living room a day later). This didn’t melt evenly, which was what you want with this. Slowly, the wax melted, with the main wax going from a solid lilac to a liquid rich, red pink colour. And the chunks, which I think helped make the wax turn into this vibrant shade, was the last to go, almost swimming for it’s life! Super pretty, fun to watch and while warming through released fragrance pretty much immediately.

    Strength & Longevity.

Strength is a medium. I found this was the same regardless of which room this was melting in or the warmer used. This was the ideal strength for this particular scent. Longevity was great as usual with wax from Fragrantasia. On the whole I tend to melt the same piece of wax for 2 to 3 days for hours at a time. I had this on for 2 days in 2 rooms for hours, and only changed it to mix up my fragrance, not because the scent had gone.

    Recommended?

Lover of fruit and sweet inspired fragrances then yes you need this and it’s totally recommended! I’ve melted ALOT of different fragranced wax over the years and some similar in scent to this one. BUT it’s the cherry element that brings this out. It’s a fun, enjoyable and such a yummy scent that doesn’t go overboard in regards to strength or being sugary sweet. And with it being in a wax chunk pot it automatically is super pretty!

Sweet Hearts Wax Chunk Pot is £2.20. I think the pot is around 45/50g in weight, which will provide hours and hours of fragrance. If this is for you, head over to the website here to order. If this isn’t ticking your fragrance boxes, there are plenty more to choose from. Happy shopping!

  • Fragrantasia’s Campfire On The Beach

As much as I would like to make a cheeky purchase of home fragrance items such as wax melts right now, I’m not going to. I have enough wax melts to last me months and months of continuous melting. But it’s like owning multiple perfumes or body mists. Each one is used dependant on mood or occasion, and wax melts is exactly the same for me. So having a healthy amount to mix things up is a must! I was very lucky a few months to receive some wax goodies from Amy at Fragrantasia. A small UK business that handmakes their own fragranced wax in a variety of different forms and fragrances. Amy sent wax melts that she knew I hadn’t tried before, and thought I would like. One item included, and one that has been melting away recently, has been Campfire On The Beach.

    Fragrantasia’s Campfire On The Beach

Why did I melt this one?

Normally, fragrance/wax melt names give an idea of how it will actually smell and this I thought was interesting. Would it be fresh? Would it have warmth to it? Would it be heavy on the musk? I was dying to try so thought it was best to melt to find out.

    Appearance.

These came in a set of 4 small dome shapes. Cream in colour, with a sprinkle of black and silver chunky glitter shapes on top. So simple but very easy on the eye.

    Fragrance.

When I actually got these out to melt I instantly fell in love with the fragrance. Why? It reminds me so much of one of my all time favourite scents called Fireside. It has some woody notes in this, giving it a slightly masculine feel. Some musk is in there too, and a little saltiness. And with possibly floral providing subtle sweetness to it? It’s a stunner!

    In melt.

I couldn’t help but have a childish laugh to myself as these were placed in my wax warmer. Two domes sat side by side with glittery middles put my mind in the gutter. But they melted away beautifully, and left a gorgeous liquid, almost shimmery beige coloured wax pool with the glitter floating on top. The scent was immediately there, and the room was thankful for it. 2 melts was the perfect amount and needed no more or no less.

    Strength & Longevity.

Even though this didn’t blow my brain out of my nostrils, I would say this was a medium to strong in strength. I had another fragranced piece of wax melting in another room, plus cooking various food items at the same time, and this fought its way through like a soldier! Strong doesn’t always have to mean full on, just dominant and obvious. Longevity of this was fantastic! I loved this so much I had this on for 4 days straight. I couldn’t tell you for how many hours at a time this melted for (but it was hours). By day 4 the strength died down and I decided to change it.

    Recommended?

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is on my list of favourite wax melts from Fragrantasia! It’s one of those scents that I could melt anytime of the year, anytime of the day and truly enjoy it! It’s such a beautiful, unusual blend that you just won’t find on the high street. And the longevity is amazing with strength perfect! I wish it was still available, but sadly, not right now as it was part of a collection. But visit the website as there are so many stunning fragrances to choose, in various shapes and sizes, you will be spoilt for choice!
