  • Fizzy Smelts Harry Potter Inspired Wax Melt Box Part 2

It’s rare that I do a blog post in parts 1 and 2, but sometimes you get your hands on something that requires more time and words to review than just a standard post. If you keep up to date with my blog posts, you will know last week I gave an overview on a Harry Potter Inspired Wax Melt Box from a wax vendor called Fizzy Smelts. Today’s post is more about how these pieces melted, their strength, longevity and of course how they smelt.

Fizzy Smelts Harry Potter Inspired Wax Melt Box

    Maple & Elm.

I expected something quite woody fragrance wise from this wax brittle. What I got was something more bakery based. Sweet, literally smelt like maple syrup with a slightly spicy undertone to it. THIS is definitely Autumnal. The wax pool left was a stunner! A shimmering emerald green which was beautiful. Strength wise, I would say light but closing into medium. It wasn’t a force to be reckoned with but filled my kitchen naturally as if that scent was meant to be there. I had this melting for 2 days and I felt that was then time to change it as the scent became less.

    Maple & Elm Wax Melt

    Turkish Delight.

I have to be honest, I don’t know what Turkish Delight smells of because I tried it as a kid and it grossed me out. But what this cute froggie does smell like is dark chocolate mixed in with a perfumed rose. I’m not a rose fan and this is very much rose and screams floral, but this combo is a killer and a winning one. I ADORE this scent and have to say I am so glad I got the chance to try it out! Strength wise I would say this was medium to strong. I melted this in my living room in the morning. Came home afternoon, opened the door and BANG! Longevity just as great. I changed this after 3 days and the fragrance was still going.

    Turkish Delight Wax Melt

    Dragon Mountain.

This is a mix of ripe fruit to me. Might not be this combo but this smells like a mix of peach and berries to my nose. It’s delicious, mouth watering and sweet but not sickly. Strength wise I would say this is a medium. Longevity, this lasted 2 days before I felt it did need to be changed but a kitchen is a testing place for fragrance, especially if it’s a more bakery or fruit based scent. Kitchens can have lots of varied cooking smells competing with each other.

    Dragon Mountain Wax Melt

    White Musk.

A powdery and clean scent. Very neutral and not too heavy in fragrance. I used one of the melts but found it was just too light in strength so threw in the second melt. This upped the scent more, and this was light to medium in strength. A lovely scent which was quite subtle. Longevity, over 2 days and then it needed to be changed.

    Coconut & Apricot.

I can’t say I’ve had any wax melts scented of apricot but this one was a delight and slightly misleading. Misleading in the fact that giving this piece of wax a sniff before melting smelt nice. But having this warmed through the wax melt smelt great. Scent wise for me the apricot was more dominant. Uplifting, juicy, sunshine filled apricot fragrance that would make anyone smile. The coconut was hidden beneath this giving it a slightly creamy base and helping it have a tropical hint to it, but it was super delicate. Strength was light. Longevity, again, 2 days, using both of the melts.

    Coconut & Apricot Wax Melt

    Baby Powder.

Most people are familiar with the scent of baby powder. This is clean, neutral, powdery and very easy on the nose. Similar to White Musk but much simple in my opinion. Some versions can be quite strong and heady, this is of medium strength so not overpowering. I had this melting for 2 days in my kitchen which helped odourise the smell of chaotic cooking. I used both wax melts at the time.

    Magical Dreams.

A glorious wax melt that immediately made me think of the cordial Vimto in scent. Not as syrupy sweet as the drink, but this wax melt smells like it has a berry based element to it, sweetened with a soothing vanilla hit. Totally delicious! How this melted was so impressive. As it heated up, the cream coloured large heart shaped wax melt started to leak a stream of red, which slowly turned it into a soft red coloured pool of wax. Strength wise a medium. Longevity? Not sure, I’m still enjoying this one so can’t comment on that.

    Magical Dreams Wax Melt

    Seychelles.

This one smelt so tropical but not in an obvious way. I got a little creaminess from coconut in this wax melt, and vanilla. Even a possible touch of floral. If I’m honest not too sure what else was included, but if you like tropical scents but not too fruity and obvious, this could be for you. Strength wise I would say this was light. After adding the second wax melt to the mix and moving my wax warmer, it became more light to medium. Like most of the other waxes this got changed after day 2.

    Seychelles Wax Melt

    Overall thoughts.

This set if I remember correctly, was a themed wax box brought out in the month of July. So the scents included were perfect for Summer. A good mix of fragrances but all connected well with each other. Pieces were well made and thought out and looked great. A Harry Potter fan wouldn’t be disappointed with this as it’s definitely inspired by the brand. I liked all the scents. For me, a few could have been a bit stronger, but that’s my personal preference. I got a good amount of hours out of all of these pieces which represented great value for money.

This set as far as I’m aware isn’t available now as it was a one off themed box. But if this post has caught your attention, visit Fizzy Smelts to see what their latest themed box is and also check out other waxy goodies!

  • Fizzy Smelts’s Harry Potter Inspired Wax Melts Box Part 1

It’s no secret that I am a wax melt addict. I have been for many years. My first purchases were wax pots that were simple in look but highly fragrant. Absolutely nothing wrong with wax presented in a basic way as long as the scent is great. It’s just over the years I’ve discovered more and more wax vendors who not only create brilliantly scented pieces but make them look like works of art too. Normally I buy individual pieces of wax, but my most recent purchase has been a themed box, inspired by the books and films of Harry Potter. This collection cost £12.99 (plus p&p) from a wax vendor called Fizzy Smelts.

    Why did I buy this?

My daughter is Harry Potter mad! Loves the books, films and any merchandise connected with it. She sat and read all 7 books, and I later followed her and did the same. Am I a Harry Potter fan now? Probably. I wasn’t a massive one before but I’m fully invested in the franchise now. When I saw this set on Instagram from Fizzy Smelts I HAD to buy it! It looked cute, good amount of pieces included and a wax vendor I was yet to try from so why not?

    What do you get?

Maple & Elm Wax Brittle. Mid green coloured shards of wax. Embedded into this are white feathers, yellow stars (both are wax) with a dusting of gold glitter and gold stars.

Magical Dream large heart shaped wax melt. Off white in colour, flat on the bottom but faceted on the top . Small black witches hats and gold stars are peeping throughout the wax.

Turkish Delight frog shaped wax melt. Literally looks like a brown chocolate frog!

Dragon Mountain witches hat shaped wax melt. Pink in colour, flat, hat shaped. Little stars and thin tiny dark blue strands of glitter are on the top of this melt.

A tray of 8 wax melts (4 different fragrances). Each piece same size, same shape (rectangular). 2 in the colour of red, blue, yellow and green. The red has a bird shape on the top of it. The blue a witches hat, yellow a lightening bolt and the green a broom stick. They all have various different shaped glitters on them. All housed in a plastic tray with Harry Potter inspired stickers decorating the lid.

    First Impressions

This is a lot of wax for £12.99! Plenty of varied shapes, colours and scents to keep any wax melt fan satisfied. Time and energy has obviously gone into making these pieces which I love to see. They remind me of Harry Potter but they don’t scream copy to me. I love how the set is fun, not taking itself too seriously but still very practical in regards to it’s use.

    Let the melting begin!

Over the next week or so I will be melting these pieces. Have I had chance to start? Nope! So expect a part 2 or possibly even a part 3 focusing on this set so I can review these wax goodies with the respect and time they deserve. In the meantime feel free to visit Fizzy Smelts website here. If you are a Friends fan, dare I mention their current themed box is based on the series? I will leave that thought there…

  • Fragrantasia’s Sweet Heart Wax Chunk Pot

If you are someone who likes using home fragrance products, are their certain fragrance families that you really like? It’s rare that if you burn a candle, or use a reed diffuser, that you aren’t bothered about what type of scent it’s giving off. We all have our own tastes because fragrance is a personal thing. There are a few I’m not too keen on, but thankfully many more I like. And I think this is why Amy at Fragrantasia, sent me the selection of wax melts and wax pots that she did. Included in this box of goodies was Sweet Heart Wax Chunks Pot.

Fragrantasia’s Sweet Heart Wax Chunk Pot

    Why did I melt this?

Not only do I have a sweet tooth in regards to food, I also have a love of sweet scents. From it’s name alone I assumed it would fall into this category and I hoped it would be based on a certain packet of sweets available in the UK. Only way to find out was to melt it so I did!

    What’s a wax chunk pot?

Some wax melts come in pots, so they are literally poured into them in liquid form and then left to set. A wax chunk pot is the same think BUT there are at least two elements to these. One being actual chunks of wax, which tend to be fragranced in one scent. And then on top of this is an overpour of wax which is in another fragrance. This giving it the name of a wax chunk pot.

    The Look.

I am a sucker for a wax chunk pot! Never have a found one that wasn’t appealing. In Sweet Heart, the main wax is a very soft shade of lilac. Plain, no glitter, totally smooth. What you see breaking out of the surface is decent sized mid pink coloured chunks of wax. There is nothing sparing about these shapes! This wax chunk pot is filled with them. Not only can you see a good amount creeping through the top, but looking at the bottom and the sides of the pot itself, you can see many more embedded into the wax.

    Fragrance.

I expected a similar scent to the sweets Love Hearts. What I got was something similar but with a twist and much better if I’m honest. I got the fizzy sweety like aspect of this. But then what struck me was the deep, dark scent of cherries. This made it have so much depth and gave it a massive hit of the fruities! Unusual, addictive, well balanced and fun to sniff!

    In melt.

My favourite bit with a wax chunk pot! I used just under a third of this in 2 warmers (one in the kitchen on one day, the other in the living room a day later). This didn’t melt evenly, which was what you want with this. Slowly, the wax melted, with the main wax going from a solid lilac to a liquid rich, red pink colour. And the chunks, which I think helped make the wax turn into this vibrant shade, was the last to go, almost swimming for it’s life! Super pretty, fun to watch and while warming through released fragrance pretty much immediately.

    Strength & Longevity.

Strength is a medium. I found this was the same regardless of which room this was melting in or the warmer used. This was the ideal strength for this particular scent. Longevity was great as usual with wax from Fragrantasia. On the whole I tend to melt the same piece of wax for 2 to 3 days for hours at a time. I had this on for 2 days in 2 rooms for hours, and only changed it to mix up my fragrance, not because the scent had gone.

    Recommended?

Lover of fruit and sweet inspired fragrances then yes you need this and it’s totally recommended! I’ve melted ALOT of different fragranced wax over the years and some similar in scent to this one. BUT it’s the cherry element that brings this out. It’s a fun, enjoyable and such a yummy scent that doesn’t go overboard in regards to strength or being sugary sweet. And with it being in a wax chunk pot it automatically is super pretty!

Sweet Hearts Wax Chunk Pot is £2.20. I think the pot is around 45/50g in weight, which will provide hours and hours of fragrance. If this is for you, head over to the website here to order. If this isn’t ticking your fragrance boxes, there are plenty more to choose from. Happy shopping!

  • Fragrantasia’s Campfire On The Beach

As much as I would like to make a cheeky purchase of home fragrance items such as wax melts right now, I’m not going to. I have enough wax melts to last me months and months of continuous melting. But it’s like owning multiple perfumes or body mists. Each one is used dependant on mood or occasion, and wax melts is exactly the same for me. So having a healthy amount to mix things up is a must! I was very lucky a few months to receive some wax goodies from Amy at Fragrantasia. A small UK business that handmakes their own fragranced wax in a variety of different forms and fragrances. Amy sent wax melts that she knew I hadn’t tried before, and thought I would like. One item included, and one that has been melting away recently, has been Campfire On The Beach.

    Fragrantasia’s Campfire On The Beach

Why did I melt this one?

Normally, fragrance/wax melt names give an idea of how it will actually smell and this I thought was interesting. Would it be fresh? Would it have warmth to it? Would it be heavy on the musk? I was dying to try so thought it was best to melt to find out.

    Appearance.

These came in a set of 4 small dome shapes. Cream in colour, with a sprinkle of black and silver chunky glitter shapes on top. So simple but very easy on the eye.

    Fragrance.

When I actually got these out to melt I instantly fell in love with the fragrance. Why? It reminds me so much of one of my all time favourite scents called Fireside. It has some woody notes in this, giving it a slightly masculine feel. Some musk is in there too, and a little saltiness. And with possibly floral providing subtle sweetness to it? It’s a stunner!

    In melt.

I couldn’t help but have a childish laugh to myself as these were placed in my wax warmer. Two domes sat side by side with glittery middles put my mind in the gutter. But they melted away beautifully, and left a gorgeous liquid, almost shimmery beige coloured wax pool with the glitter floating on top. The scent was immediately there, and the room was thankful for it. 2 melts was the perfect amount and needed no more or no less.

    Strength & Longevity.

Even though this didn’t blow my brain out of my nostrils, I would say this was a medium to strong in strength. I had another fragranced piece of wax melting in another room, plus cooking various food items at the same time, and this fought its way through like a soldier! Strong doesn’t always have to mean full on, just dominant and obvious. Longevity of this was fantastic! I loved this so much I had this on for 4 days straight. I couldn’t tell you for how many hours at a time this melted for (but it was hours). By day 4 the strength died down and I decided to change it.

    Recommended?

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is on my list of favourite wax melts from Fragrantasia! It’s one of those scents that I could melt anytime of the year, anytime of the day and truly enjoy it! It’s such a beautiful, unusual blend that you just won’t find on the high street. And the longevity is amazing with strength perfect! I wish it was still available, but sadly, not right now as it was part of a collection. But visit the website as there are so many stunning fragrances to choose, in various shapes and sizes, you will be spoilt for choice!
