  • Good For Dry Skin? Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil

One of the quickest and easiest way to keep the skin on the body in tip top condition is using some form of body moisturiser. We all have our likes and dislikes when it comes to which one we use and what type. One that I don’t think gets much attention is the body oil. It’s not my go to moisturiser but I’m always open minded to using one. My latest body care purchase actually is an oil. I’ve just slipped into my body care routine Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil bought from Home Bargains. For 125ml this cost a bargain busting 69p!

    Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil
    Why did I buy this?

I bought this because it looked like an interesting product. After reading the ingredients on the packaging they all seemed geared towards moisturising which is a must. How it was presented came across quite wholesome and natural. Great size and the price was so low it was definitely worth buying!

What is this supposed to do?

Safa‘s Skin Therapy Oil is designed to moisturise the skin especially skin that is dry. It can also help improve the look and texture of marks including stretch marks and can be used on the body and face.

    Packaging

125ml of oil comes in a plain, clear plastic bottle with a screw top lid. It looks quite similar to other oils that are aimed at dealing with scars and general imperfections on the skin. This comes boxed and definitely looks like it belongs in a health shop among natural products. It’s not the most glamorous looking presentation but it’s appealing in a holistic type of way.

    Ingredients

Ingredients include Sunflower oil, Sweet Almond oil, Rosemary oil, Grapeseed oil, Soy Bean oil, Lavender oil and Calendula oil.

    Fragrance

This has an aromatherapy type fragrance to it but it’s not strong and punchy. It’s quite relaxing in scent thanks to lavender being the prominent fragrance I can smell.

    Consistency

This is quite a liquid oil. It’s not thick and very loose but colour wise looks very typical for what it is. It’s not particularly sticky and not heavy either.

    On the skin

Although you can use this on the face and the body I use this just on my body. I’m quite generous with the amount I use so I probably use too much. But it glides over the skin easily and perfect if you want a quick application. The fragrance is there but it’s not distracting and strong. The oil gives my body a glow to it. A healthy, natural looking sheen rather than a greasy and oily appearance. It looks and feels moisturised without being tacky and I can put my clothes on pretty much straight away. This moisturisation lasts a good amount of time so using morning and evening is enough.

My skin really likes this. It hasn’t irritated my already irritated patches of skin (which I was afraid of). In fact, it soothed it to a degree. If I really wanted to I could layer up and use a body lotion as well but there is no need as this does it’s job very well.

    Recomended?

I can’t comment on how this deals with the look of marks because I haven’t used it long enough. But what it does as a moisturiser it does well. It’s one of those oils that isn’t messy to apply, quick to use, not greasy and lightweight compared to others on the market. If you like herbal/aromatherapy type scents you would like how this smells. This is a nice product which comes in a generous size, decent ingredients, sinks in well and is only 69p! So recommended 100%!

  • Feather & Down’s Sweet Dreams Bath & Shower Steamers

Bath bombs are an incredibly popular bath product. They comes in various shapes, sizes and scents. So it’s no surprise people will purchase them as either a treat and a form of pampering, or a regular bath product. But not everyone has a bath, so can they experience something similar with something else? I picked up Feather & Down’s Sweet Dreams Bath & Shower Steamers from Home Bargains for 99p!

Feather & Down’s Sweet Dreams Bath & Shower Steamers
    Why did I buy these?

I know of this brand but I’ve never tried any of their products. They are designed to aide relaxation. I liked the idea of these being shower steamers, the packaging was striking and they were only 99p!

    What are these?

Feather & Down’s Sweet Dreams Bath & Shower Steamers can be used in two different ways. They can be used as a traditional bath bomb where you pop it under warm running water. Or you can place it on the bottom of your bath/shower. The water and the heat making contact will release fragrance which contains lavender and chamomile oils.

    Packaging

These bath and shower steamers come in a cardboard tube, dark blue in colour with gold detailing. The look of it is appealing. It’s practical in regards to how it’s housed and overall I really like it! The shower steamers (6) are individually shrink wrapped which is great because they are protected and you can open them up if and when needed to use.

    Fragrance

Lightly lavender scented, so has a herbal, relaxing fragrance to it. it’s a little sweet so not too earthy and aromatherapy based and it’s really pleasant.

How does the bath & shower steamer look?

These look like giant sized tablets. Disc shaped, chunky and lilac coloured. On both sides the words feather & down are embossed into them.

    In the shower

I placed one of these in the bath close to wear the shower was positioned above. I thought it would be an ideal place for some of the water to hit it and also for the heat to help push the fragrance too. Fragrance wise I didn’t get much. A faint whiff of it yes, and when I knelt down closer to the steamer I could smell it better but not by much. It dissolved slowly, which was what I expected and was very quick and easy to clean the bath out once finished.

    In the bath

I treated these like a normal bath fizzer and placed it under warm, running water. The fragrance was there faintly (more so compared to using this in the shower). No foam but lots of fizz and it turned the water into the palest shade or purple known to man. The bath it created didn’t give me any form of wow factor so I threw in another one which didn’t add too much to it.

I felt I was sat in slightly coloured and unbelievably light fragranced water. As a bath it did the bare minimum but added nothing to my bathing experience. The only thing that stuck out in my mind was the fact it didn’t irritate my skin or dry it out.

    Recommended?

No. The packaging is great, the look of the steamers are ideal and even the fragrance is quite nice. But it didn’t deliver enough of a punch in both the shower and the bath. I expected the fragrance to be more intense than what it was especially for a shower steamer. And it didn’t create the relaxing bath I had hoped for. The only person this would benefit would be those who like their herbal, aromatherapy style scents but want something incredibly subtle and light in scent.

  • Is Selfless by Hyram’s Centella & Green Tea Gel Cleanser Good?

Celebrity faced skincare and beauty brands are popular, but they aren’t for me. Having a famous name plastered on a product doesn’t encourage me to buy it. In fact, it makes me do the opposite. So I resisted and resisted purchasing products from the Selfless by Hyram skincare range because of this but then I caved in! I purchased their Centella & Green Tea Daily Gel Cleanser from Home Bargains for £1.99 for 150ml when I couldn’t get hold of my usual cleanser.

Selfless by Hyram’s Centella & Green Tea Daily Gel Cleanser
    Why did I buy this?

I was already tempted by this cleanser. It’s made by the skincare brand The Inkey List. Their product range is vast, popular because their products work well and price wise they are reasonably affordably. I bought this gel cleanser because with that background I thought it would be good quality, slip easily into my routine and the price was unbelievably cheap!

    Who is Hyram?

This range is a collaboration with YouTube skincare influencer Hyram Yarbro. He has a over 4 million followers, where he mainly shares videos on skincare products.

What is this supposed to do?

This cleanser is designed for all skin types. Gentle on the skin but effective in regards to cleaning it.

    Packaging

Selfless by Hyram’s cleanser comes in a simple but striking green, plastic flip top lidded tube. The contrasting white writing on it makes it stand out and generally this is quite unisex in look. The cleanser comes boxed, same colouring as tube, but a little more tropical in look thanks to images of forests and exotic birds. Personally I like how this is presented especially the tube itself. Downside is on first use the lid partially broke off which isn’t great when it will be opened for use regularly.

    Consistency

This cleanser is clear, gel like but has a fluidness to it. So it’s not stiff and doesn’t hold it shape.

    Fragrance

There isn’t one! This is fragrance free. Fragrance free products I find don’t have a fragrance but they do have a certain ‘plain smell’ to them, which this does.

    On the skin

I use this morning and evening. Placed on my damp skin it foams up but not massively. It’s very comfortable on the skin, quick to use but I take my time using this product to be thorough. It removes general dirt and grime, sun cream and eyebrow pencil easily.

My skin afterwards feels and looks clean and fresh which is exactly what I want a cleanser to do. Hay fever this year has made my eyes very sore at times, but this hasn’t irritated them at all and has been very gentle. Gel cleansers can be a bit drying on my skin but this hasn’t. It hasn’t stripped it and it hasn’t made it feel tight.

    My children

My son is 13 and my daughter is 11. Child 2 is happy to use skincare (I do keep it basic for her) and I gave her this to use. Getting Child 1 to wash his face is a task in itself but even HE’S been using this! They haven’t complained to me while using this, their skin looks absolutely fine so it’s safe to say this works fine for them both.

    Recommended?

I like this! Selfless by Hyram’s Centella & Green Tea Daily Gel Cleanser is the perfect size for twice daily use so should last a few months. Packaging is appealing although needs to be more robust where the lid is concerned. Consistency makes it quick and easy to use and cleans the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. Now…when this was originally launched this was priced at just short of £18.00. I wouldn’t pay that! I just can’t justify that for one product, especially for a cleanser. But for £1.99? BARGAIN! So much so I’ve bought a few for me and the kids to use. IF you can still get this from Home Bargains grab it! If not, you will be able to buy it from other places online but will pay at least double the price.

  • On A Skincare Budget? Try Beauty Pro’s 49p Sheet Masks

When it comes to looking after the skin on your face or body, it’s important to think about your budget. Having a small amount to spend doesn’t mean you are priced out of treating the skin you are in. It just means you have to keep your eyes out for products that are priced affordably. So what did I manage to pick up recently for less than £1.00? 2 Beauty Pro sheet masks from Home Bargains for 49p each. One infused with pumpkin, and the other turmeric.

Beauty Pro’s Pumpkin & Turmeric Infused Sheet Masks
What are these sheets masks supposed to do?

Both of these masks are part of their plant based range which means they’re harnessing the powers of plants and herbs. Beauty Pro’s Pumpkin Infused Sheet Mask is designed to give the skin a more brighter and softer look and feel because it contains natural fruit enzymes. Turmeric Infused Sheet Mask is supposed to brighten, hydrate and help to encourage skin renewal.

    Packaging

These sheet masks come in the typical looking sachets most masks come in. But what caught my eye buying these was how natural and wholesome these look. The colour of the sachets, not looking plastic and shiny in look, it gives a natural appearance which suits this plant based range 100%.

    Turmeric Infused Sheet Mask
    In Use

I decided to try out Turmeric Infused Sheet Mask. This was a typical sheet mask in look, feel, style and shape. The mask had a decent thickness to it and all the holes for the areas of the face were sized perfectly. Very moist with solution, but not dripping wet (which I hate!).

On the skin this was very easy to apply and stuck onto my face well for the full 15 minute duration. There was no movement and it felt very comfortable to wear. What I loved about this was how soothing and cooling this sheet mask felt. It was so relaxing to wear and enjoyable.

After 15 minutes I took this off. There was lots of serum still left on my skin which I patted into my face and neck. My skin went from looking slightly damp to naturally moisturised.

The Morning After The Night Before

My skin looked and felt very rested the following morning. It didn’t dramatically change but I did feel the sheet mask did something. Firstly, my skin wasn’t dry and was still quite moisturised. Two spots that were invading my face and growing before using this had looked flatter and better behaved. Overall, I was very happy with this skincare product.

    Recommended?

Oh yes! I never expect miracles with sheet masks. But what I want is to use something that moisturises the skin, soothes it, relaxes it (and me) and not cost me a small fortune. And this ticks all the boxes!

If you are lucky enough to spot this in your local Home Bargains store, definitely grab a few. Whether that’s for yourself or for gifting. I now wished I picked up more because direct from Beauty Pro they are currently £3.50!
