  • The £2.49 Brightening Eye Serum From Skincare Brand Glow

If you try to look after your skin, there is always at least one area that you want to improve on. My area of concern is my under eyes. They’re not bad, but I want them to look a little more rested and alive which in itself will give me a younger, fresher look. So I have a weakness for eye products and I’ve been looking for an eye serum to give this area of my face a little pick me up. I picked up Glow’s Time To Glow Eye Serum from Home Bargains for £2.49 for 30ml, to see if this would help.

Glow Time To Glow Eye Serum
What is this designed to do?

Glow’s Eye Serum is designed to reduce the appearance of dark circles, make the under eye area look fresher and brighter thanks to ingredients included such as ceramides and Vitamin C.

    Packaging

Glow’s Eye Serum comes in a glass bottle with a pipette applicator. This makes it easy and hygienic to use. Quite simple in look but does stand out thanks to it’s soft pink coloured label, and comes boxed with the design and colour mirroring the bottle. It does stand out and is quite appealing.

    Consistency & Fragrance

This eye serum is clear, liquid but not as fluid as water, which is what I would expect from a serum consistency wise. I can’t smell a fragrance although the packaging doesn’t state it’s fragrance free. But I can’t see an obvious listing of a fragrance in the ingredients either.

    How to use

Using a small amount, dab the serum under the eyes.

    On the skin

I found this a very easy serum to use. The consistency is perfect because it’s not too fluid and I can feel this going onto the skin with my fingertips. It feels lightweight and quite moisturising and sinks in very quickly. It doesn’t leave a film or layer on the under eye area to look at, but it does feel as if something has been applied to it.

The previous eye product I was using was a cream. That formula was much more nourishing compared to this but it would because of it’s texture. But looking at the visible look of the under eye area, after using this for a few weeks, looks and feels no different to before use. I had hoped to get even the smallest amount of freshness in appearance from this but nothing.

    Recommended?

This was a nice enough product to use but I didn’t feel it made any difference. The look, the feel of the under eye area was pretty much the same for me as before so it’s not something I would repeat purchase. I think this is an ok product to use if you just need something light weight for this area of the face, but it’s not the best. I’m happy to pay a little more for a better product and possibly a branded one that I know of and can research and get customer reviews on.

  • Freeman’s Sleepy Time Whipped Mask

Skincare masks. Skincare masks tend to come in two different forms. One being a sheet mask and the other cream like that is applied to the face. I like both, but I find a cream based mask is more convenient to use and less messing about compared to sheet masks in general. So I was definitely drawn to Freeman’s Sleepy Time Whipped Mask sold in Home Bargains, for 69p for 89ml.

    Freeman’s Sleepy Time Whipped Mask
    Why did I buy this?

I used a Freeman’s product before and I was really impressed by it. When I saw this particular mask I liked the fact it was fragrance free, and some of the ingredients (magnesium, hyaluronic acid) sounded very appealing. Plus this doesn’t need to be washed off, so I thought this was the perfect night time treat for my skin.

What does this mask supposed to do?

Freeman’s Sleepy Time Whipped Mask is supposed to hydrate and smooth the skin overnight as it’s a topical mask left on. Suitable for all skin types, but great for those with slightly more sensitive skin thanks to being fragrance free.

    Texture

This mask is quite thick in texture, has hold to it but soft and not solid. Think of the feel of a night cream and this would be similar.

    How to use

Apply a thin layer over clean skin. Leave on the skin overnight and wash off the following morning.

    In use

I applied this onto clean skin and followed the instructions. I used a small amount, tapped it lightly into the skin on my face and neck and left it. It had a slight cooling feel to it, my skin felt moisturised and comfortable.

The following day I noticed my skin looked and felt a little fresher, smoother and looked quite hydrated which was what I wanted.

    Recommended?

I really liked this mask. A fragrance free mask was what I wanted as I’m trying to limit the amount of fragranced products I put on my face. The texture and feel of this was pampering. Ease of use and no wash off required was perfect. But how my skin felt and looked hours later meant I will be using this often. Definitely recommended and at the price of 69p I will be buying more!

The months of November and December can be very expensive. As much as Christmas can be a joyful and fun filled holiday it also isn’t the cheapest! I love giving gifts to my nearest and dearest but I also like to treat myself too. But what did I manage to buy myself with £20.00?

Escentuals Body Mist White Musk & Vanilla

A body mist or five is a must in my household. Not only do I use them daily as a cheap form of fragrance but my daughter uses them as well. So I always need a decent stash of mists and sprays. I bought Escentuals Body Mist in White Musk and Vanilla from Boots. They were on a special price promotion for £2.50 each instead of £3.99 which I thought was a good deal. This was a totally new range to me that I wanted to try and thought I would enjoy the fragrances.

I grabbed Ecotools Gua Sha Kit from Home Bargains because I’ve never seen a set like this before. Facial gua sha’s are available in many different stores and shops, but mainly are just for the face. This collection included not only a facial tool but one for the hair and body, which is why I bought it. Made from real jade, great packaging and only cost £3.49.

I’ve been on the look out for an affordable eye serum for awhile now and found this in Home Bargains for £2.99. It’s easy to grab an eye cream but not a serum so I thought I would give this a go. Designed to brighten the under eye area, it has a pipette applicator for hygienic and ease of use.

Revolution Skincare Vibrating Rose Quartz Face Roller

If you love skincare it would be hard to be immune to buying the occasional facial tool. Although I’m not the most consistent in using them if I’m honest, they at least provide a pampering few moments when I do use them. Revolution Skincare Vibrating Rose Quartz Face Roller caught my eye on ASOS because of ease of use as it’s battery operated not manual. And of the course the price swayed me. It originally was £20.00 and went on sale for £5.36.
