  • You Need To Try Glow’s Snapdragon & Patchouli Diffuser

Home fragrance comes in different forms. It could be plug ins, candles, wax melts or even room sprays. There’s a product out there that suits everyone’s needs and home. One that I’ve been enjoying for the last few years is diffusers. I was so excited my Glow’s Christmas 2022 Wax Melt Advent included a diffuser as Day 25 because I’ve wanted to try this product for AGES! (the diffuser included in the Advent is not the usual size sold, it’s a smaller version). It’s taken me a few weeks to finally open the box, but I can safely say I’ve been using Glow’s Snapdragon & Patchouli Diffuser and I think I’m in love…..

    Glow’s Snapdragon & Patchouli Diffuser
What is this and how does it look?

Glow’s diffusers work in the same way a traditional reed diffuser does but with a difference. This diffuser houses it’s oil in a sleek, clean and simple white bottle with a black rim round the top. There are no reeds to place into this. Instead, this came with what I would describe as a flower head shaped (cream in colour) looking piece, which has a string attached to it. This string is what you place into the bottle (like with a reed diffuser), and this sucks up the oil. The oil goes through the string, into the ‘flower’ head and releases fragrance.

    Fragrance

I could never have guessed how this fragrance would smell from it’s name alone. It’s quite fresh, having a marine like scent to it with a slight floral sweetness thrown in. There’s a hint of musk and woodiness to this (that’s why I mention the marine smell) which makes this fragrance quite sophisticated and beautiful. This equally could be masculine or feminine in scent.

    In Use

Taking the little stopper out of the bottle (this keeps the oil safely contained in it) was actually not bad at all. Normally it’s a struggle getting these out of other diffusers but this was ok. I put the rim back onto it and popped the string into the bottle so the flower sat on the top of the bottle, which made it like a little ornament. It looked super cute!

I placed Glow’s Snapdragon & Patchouli Diffuser in my son’s bedroom, which is small in size. It took a couple of hours for the fragrance to come through. When I looked at the diffuser the flower had turned into a soft mint green colour. I came back a few hours later and the scent was intensified and the flower even darker in colour.

Every time I’ve been in my son’s room the scent is there and it’s stunning! It’s actually the perfect fragrance because it has that fresh and clean smell to it (needed for stinky boy teens!). And having a diffuser that looks pretty and colour changes is an added bonus.

    Colour changing!
    Strength & Longevity

Strength is fabulous! It’s strong but not overpowering in my son’s bedroom and a medium in mine (my bedroom is larger). Longevity? I’ve only been using this for the last 5 days but the strength, scent and quality is not fading and it’s consistently great. I walk into his room and despite the clothes on the floor, half drunk water bottle on the side, this scent makes me smile when I’m in there.

    Recommended?

I’m going to be honest. The size of this is quite small (the bottle is just over 4cm in height). I’ve used reed diffusers this size before, and they are classed as mini, and they didn’t deliver a good strength of fragrance. But this DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Strength is even better than larger sized diffusers I’ve used in the past. Fragrance is amazing, unusual and utterly gorgeous. This is the BEST diffuser I’ve ever used and it’s not even the full sized version! So recommended 110%!

What I love about getting these types of products from small business such as Glow, you will get fragrances you won’t find on the high street. Dupes for well known fragrances and some other stand out fragrances are available, making your home smell great and not like anyone else’s. This diffuser costs £11.00 (for the full sized version of 100ml). This maybe more than what you pay in a discount store, but you are paying for something special and worth it!

Visit Glow’s website here (website is being restocked at time of writing this post so may not be live) if you need a diffuser just as much as I need more!

  • Winter Scented Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser

When you think of Winter fragrances, what comes to mind? Pine based scents which tend to be clean, fresh, slightly earthy and plant like? Or fruity scents mixed in with a little spice? One of my favourite fragrance families for this time of year has got to be bakery. The one that stands out above all others is gingerbread. So it should come as no surprise that I picked up Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser last week. 50ml was £1.99 which went down to £1.49.

    Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser
    Why did I buy this?

I love the scent of gingerbread and currently have NOTHING home fragrance wise scented in this. I’ve wanted to pick up this diffuser since it’s release a few months ago. In the end I grabbed this at the check out because it was lower in price, and thought my downstairs toilet would be a good place to put it.

    Packaging

The diffuser comes boxed, which is a lovely shade of brown with lots of festive detailing (baubles) in white and gold all over it. It has a traditional look to it but with a modern twist. Very appealing.

The bottle itself is rounded with a flat front, back and bottom. This shape is quite different compared to others on the market. Same brown colour as the box and the label mirrors some of the box labelling. Overall both box and bottle is packaged beautifully.

    How to Use

This reed diffuser comes with the bottle that holds the fragranced oil in it and 6 small and thin reeds. Before use you unscrew the collar on the bottle. Take out the stopper from the bottle, return the collar and place the reeds into it. Turn them around after 6-8 hours and it will take up to 36 hours for the fragrance to come through. Fragrance lasts up to 4 weeks.

    Fragrance

Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser definitely has a gingerbread scent to it. It’s lightly spiced and warming with hints of ginger, cinnamon and mixed spice. There’s a little vanilla in this too. Overall there’s no mistaking this to be a bakery fragrance with it’s mix of spices, slightly sweetened with a touch of buttery goodness.

    In Use

I followed the instructions and placed this in my downstairs toilet but forgot to turn the reeds around. What I did find was I couldn’t get the fragrance straight away but the following morning I walked in and wondered why there was a gorgeous, delicate scent in there and then I remembered! It wasn’t a powerhouse fragrance, but it was noticeable and beautiful. Once I turned the reeds around the scent intensified but I wouldn’t call it strong.

I’ve been using this for a couple of days so I can’t comment on whether this really lasts up to the 4 weeks it states on the packaging. But what I can say is this does a decent job cutting through unpleasant smells (if you know what I mean!). It’s a scent that’s there and I have a feeling to get the most out of this the reeds need to be turned more frequently than the packaging suggests.

    Recommended?

If you love the scent of gingerbread and looking for a way to fragrance a very small area/room, this is a good option. The smell is great, how it’s presented is eye catching and it’s affordable. But I would probably buy this only when discounted. As much as I like this the scent it needs to be stronger. If this ticks your boxes then grab it ONLY if it’s reduced to £1.49 (even better if less). If you don’t like the gingerbread scent, want a strong fragrance and need to fragrance a large room, this isn’t something to put in your shopping basket.

  • September’s Round Up. What Products Did I Use?

Another month bites the dust! This year really wants to be done, doesn’t it? It’s absolutely flying by. So here I am showcasing another monthly round up of products I’ve used, but this time for the month of September.

    September’s Round Up
Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box

September definitely started with a bang with this beautifully crafted and scented wax subscription box from UK wax vendor Glow. 5 differently fragranced, shaped and coloured pieces of wax finished off with a super sweet tealight holder. So much wax that I’m still struggling to finish off this epic selection of wax goodies!

    Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser

I’m having a love affair with reed diffusers at the moment. I was pleasantly surprised with the look, quality and price of Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser. Even if you can’t get hold of this or similar from Asda at this price, it’s worthwhile taking notice of their home fragrance products if this is a reflection of their quality. It just shows supermarkets are more than food selling shops!

The Body Shop’s Seaweed Balance Sheet Mask

I love The Body Shop for its bath and body products but I’m finding a lot of their skincare products don’t fall into my repurchase pile. Their Seaweed Balance Sheet Mask didn’t do much for my skin. Probably not the sheet mask for me and not one I would buy as I’ve used and enjoyed others much more.

Wax melts are definitely my thing! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love them. And these little botanical gems not only smelt great, looked fabulous but were also super cheap! Perfect Christmas stocking fillers.

  • Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser For A Pound!

I would like to think I’m on the ball when it comes to spotting good deals. One place I can normally find a deal or two is in supermarkets. During a recent trip to Asda, while eyeing up some wax melts, my eyes caught sight of some reed diffusers. This is where I found Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser, 100ml, for £1.00! No idea how much they were originally, but they were labelled as ‘special priced’.

    Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser
    Why did I buy this?

I actually needed a reed diffuser as I like to use them in my downstairs toilet. But this grabbed me because the packaging was striking and understated at the same time. The fragrance name sounded like something I would like so very appealing. And to get a decent quality 100ml reed diffuser for £1.00 just isn’t going to happen, so I grabbed two!

    Packaging

This reed diffuser came boxed. Cream in colour with different shades of grey on it. The box itself is textured in look and feel. Very simple, very minimalist, very clean in look and modern.

    The Reed Diffuser

The reed diffuser itself is made from frosted glass. It’s a short, chunky cylinder shaped bottle which is grey in colour. Not totally opaque as I can see the fragranced oil inside of it. Around the top where you place the reeds it has a gold rim which contrasts with the colour of the bottle. And with this came 6 thick and short reeds which you place in the bottle and allow the oil to soak through them which in turn releases the fragrance.

    The Fragrance

I’m a sucker for anything with a rhubarb scent to it, and this diffuser definitely has that sweet, distinctive fragrance that rhubarb has. Fruity, sweet and mouthwatering. Mixed into this is floral, which makes this scent have quite a feminine, cosy and welcoming type of fragrance. Perfectly balanced, great combination of the two different scent types. It’s a beauty!

    Strength & Longevity

This lives in my small, downstairs toilet. It took a few hours for the fragrance to come through and it was so nice and had a good strength to it. Every time I go into the toilet I can smell it, and I would say the strength is medium, which is perfect for this sized room. Longevity is a hard one to comment on as I’ve only used this for the last 2/3 days. The packaging says this can last up to 8 weeks which I can’t say is true or not. But so far so good. How this behaves in a larger sized room I have no idea. In a smaller room size this is idea.

    Recommended?

For the price, the fragrance and the look of this, this is a definite buy buy buy! It’s a lovely reed diffuser to use which has a universal fragrance most people would like. How this performs in the short space of time I’ve used it has been good and the price makes this so budget friendly! And dare I say this would be something good to buy and put away for Christmas gifts?

I have no idea if Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser is available in all Asda stores and at the price I paid, but if it is you know what to do….
