  • Revolution Skincare London’s Calming Overnight Face Mask

Have you ever found your skincare products have stopped working? No longer providing you with the results you had before? If my skincare routine isn’t as effective as it usually is I adjust it rather than completely change it. Slipping a new product into my routine can make a difference instead of buying a whole regime. Using a skincare mask for me is an easy addition to help my skin when it just needs something extra and a little gentle help. That’s why I’ve recently added Revolution Skincare London‘s Calming Overnight Face Mask to my routine to see if it would help. Has it?

Revolution Skincare London’s Calming Overnight Face Mask
    Why did I buy this?

A few months ago I bought this face mask with the matching cleansing oil and moisturiser. My skin felt a little run down and thought this could be a good range to use if and when needed. I have zero energy or drive to mess about with different lotions and potions, and thought this would be a good product to use quickly and easily and hope for results at the end of it all.

What is this supposed to do?

Revolution Skincare London’s Calming Overnight Face Mask is a face mask you apply at night to leave on while you sleep. It’s light weight in texture, and designed to soothe the skin, relax it and help it get back to normal.

    Packaging

50ml of mask comes in a small dark glass pot, with screw top lid. The pink and white label on the pot makes it stand out and the look is mirrored with the cardboard box this pot comes in. Very clean and simple in look.

    Fragrance

Identical to the cleansing oil. I actually forgot how much I liked the fragrance! This has a little floral sweetness to it, but still remains quite clean in scent and inoffensive.

    Consistency & texture

This is light weight. It’s white in colour and although doesn’t look it in the jar, is quite loose in consistency. When you rub it in it does so super quickly. No hard work needed.

    How to use

Apply onto clean skin. Leave on over night. Use 2 to 3 times a week.

    On the skin

I used this after I cleansed and exfoliated, so my skin was clean. I applied a thin layer of this onto my skin, and noticed it sank in straight away. Skin looked matt once absorbed and not shiny. It didn’t feel heavy, and once applied it felt as if t could easily have been a normal day cream. And then I went to bed!

The morning after the night before

I won’t lie I was a little disappointed. I was hoping my skin would at least feel or/and look dewy and hydrated and it didn’t. Although I didn’t think it felt dry and tight, I also didn’t feel I had used any form of special treatment on the skin. My face looked and felt no different to before using this.

    Recommended?

I loved the cleansing oil from this range and thought I would love this too but I don’t. I just don’t think this is the mask for me at the moment. My skin isn’t getting enough benefit using it and I will put this to one side and use another time. The only thing my skin is suffering from is being dehydrated ( I blame weather and masks! ) and tired. And for me I need something much more protective and moisturising, which this isn’t.

So not my mask of choice right now, but for those who are experiencing skin that I would describe as playing up and having a mind of it’s own, I think this is more for you than me. But f your skin is dry, aged, lagging…this I don’t think will be your best choice. It just proves one side doesn’t fit all, but thankfully Revolution have a great variety of masks for various skin types so plenty to chose from.

Normally this retails for £7.99, but at the time of writing this post direct from Superdrug, they have this on a 3 for 2 deal on some facial products. Or from Revolution direct it’s £5.60. And a quick heads up….Revolution have 25% off everything which ends 20th October 8am BST ( using code REV25 ) SO HAPPY SHOPPING! ( Check their FB page for details ).

  • The Surprising Nails Inc Night Night Soothing Face Mask

Nails Inc are a brand that are known for their nail polishes and nail/hand treatments. But did you know they also have their own skincare products, in the form of masks? I’ve had their Night Night Soothing Face Mask in my skincare stash for awhile and thought it was time to actually use it. So what is it like?

Nails Inc Night Night Soothing Hydro Night Mask
What is this supposed to do?

This mask is designed to be used over night and gives the skin a fresher look and feel. It helps the skin to recover from stresses and pollutants it comes across during the day.

    Packaging

The mask comes in a little pot which sits in a cardboard sleeve. The pot has a lid that pulls back so you can the use the mask.

    Texture & Consistency

This is similar to in texture and consistency to a gel serum. White in colour, quite thick, smooth has a waxiness to it.

    Fragrance

The scent of Night Night Soothing Face Mask is delicate but beautifully clean, floral with a slight sweetness to it. This smelt more like a body lotion than a facial product and I found it so enjoyable to smell.

    How to apply

Onto clean skin, massage a thin layer of mask over the face. Leave on over night and cleanse as usual the following morning.

    In use

You get 10 ml of product which is one application. I felt that was a lot of mask to put on my face so used only one third. This was enough to give me a thin layer over my face and neck. Easy to apply, very quick and clear with no colour on the skin. It felt as if I had applied a night cream onto the face because of it’s texture. To look at my skin it was obvious something was on it because there was a slight shine to it but didn’t look oily. The scent from the mask wasn’t obvious and perfect strength while on.

I expected this to sink in after a few minutes which it didn’t. After accidentally touching my face a couple of hours after applying this, I found the feel of the mask still there.

The morning after the night before

My skin didn’t dramatically change when I woke up. But I did expect the mask to have sunk in, which surprisingly it didn’t…well not totally anyway! My face still felt as if there was something on it as there was a light waxiness to it. My skin wasn’t matt in look, it looked like I had face cream on it. It felt very nourished and treated.

    Recommended?

100%! This is an easy and quick skincare face mask to use when you need your skin to be treated. Great scent, the mask provides protection and hydration, what more do you need? Perfect mask for the lazy skin care lover. Unfortunately, this mask is no longer available but Nails Inc have other skincare mask treats available here at various prices.

  • Revolution Skincare’s Mood Calming Cleansing Oil

There is nothing nicer than having clean skin. Fresh, dirt, grime free, perfect blank canvas to add anything on top of it e.g skincare products or/and make-up. There are so many different textures of cleansers on the market, we are all spoilt for choice. I love textures such as balms and oils. So I’m not surprised I bought Revolution Skincare’s Mood Calming Cleansing Oil. At the time of purchase this was on sale on their website for £5.60, usual price £8.00 for 140ml.

    Revolution Skincare’s Calming Cleansing Oil
    Why did I buy this?

I tend to find that if I want to get to the base of a skincare problem my best starting point is looking at what I’m washing my face with. I felt my previous cleanser could have been more hard working when it came to cleaning my skin, and I knew I was suffering from stress. Stress can manifest itself in many ways on the face, in the form of spots, lines and overall tiredness. This cleansing oil is something I’ve had my eye on for awhile. I felt my skin could benefit in using this, so when it was on for a sale price it seemed the perfect opportunity to buy and try.

What is this supposed to do?

This is a cleansing oil that’s designed to soothe stressed skin without stripping it of moisture, by being gentle and effective in its cleansing action.

    Packaging

140ml of cleaning oil in a pump dispenser glass bottle. It looks very smart, simple in style but very appealing with a basic looking label.

    Fragrance

Its not fragrance free as it has a scent to it. The fragrance though isn’t obvious or strong but very light. It doesn’t belong to a particular fragrance family, but it’s a scent that isn’t offensive. There’s a hint of a sweet floral base to it but it’s exceptionally delicate.

    Consistency

As the name suggests this is an oil. Typical oil texture but not thick as its easy to pump out and is very fluid. Pretty much the same thickness as most facial oils on the market.

    In use

I used two pumps of this on dry skin. The oil itself was so satisfying to rub over my face as it glided over it effortlessly. It didn’t sink in and stayed on the surface, which meant I could either spend 5 seconds cleansing or even 5 minutes. This made mince meat out of my eyebrow pencil, which previous cleansers had struggled to remove despite the product not being special e.g being waterproof or semi permanent. Once finished, I rinsed it off with warm water, which was very easy to do. Purely out of habit I wiped my face with a damp muslin cloth to make sure my face was oil free. How effective this is on heavy make-up I can’t comment as I don’t wear make-up, except as mentioned my trusty eyebrow pencil which I would die without!

    Skin afterwards

In look and feel my skin was clean, fresh, felt hydrated and not stripped of any natural oils but very importantly didn’t look or feel oily. Lots of people are scared of using oily products on their skin thinking it could prove to be problematic and actually create greasy skin, but not the case with this product.

    One week later

I’ve noticed that my skin does appear to be behaving itself and looks as if its in a better condition, smoother in fact, compared to how it was before. My facial routine hadn’t changed except for using this as a cleanser so I’m confident that this product has been helping regulate my skin.

    The Calming Range
    Recommended?

As a general cleanser definitely! If you love your oils and balms to cleanse with or slip into your daily routine as a treatment then this is a must! It cleans the skins, it doesn’t dry it out and its really easy and quick to use and quite enjoyable to apply. My only wish is I would really love this to be available in not only a bigger size ( at least double for home use ), and a smaller size ( 50/60ml ) for travel. Definitely an affordable everyday skincare product that won’t break the bank. What also makes this a great product to own is there is a matching face cream and mask so you can have a complete routine at your fingertips. • Superdrug’s Turmeric Revitalising Clay Mask

One of the most affordable and easy to use skincare products on the market in my opinion is a skincare face mask. You can spend as little or as much as you like, they come in various forms and textures and they delivery a short term form of pampering to the skin. Sometimes all you want for your skin is a temporary boost, and that’s why I delved into my skincare stash and pulled out Superdrug’s Turmeric Revitalising Clay Mask. This was given to me from a friend.

    Superdrug’s Turmeric Revitalising Clay Mask
What does this mask supposed to do?

Draws out impurities and extra oil from the skin, and makes it feel and appear smoother.

    Appearance & Texture

It has a slight orangey tint to it which isn’t very appealing. I didn’t expect the colour to be beautiful but I think the combo of turmeric, clay and shea butter doesn’t produce a visually appealing mask. Texture is smooth and quite thick, and what you would expect from a mask containing clay.

    Fragrance

Definitely has a turmeric scent to it but not too strong. I felt there was a slight citrus element to it which gave it a zing and slight freshness.

    How to use

Apply to clean skin avoiding the eye area and leave on till dry for 10-25mins, then rinse off with warm water.

    On the skin

I followed the instructions on the packaging. It didn’t take too long for my facial expressions to become frozen as it did dry out quickly. Not in an uncomfortable way but in a clay skincare mask kind of way.

    Removal

I used a damp, warm muslin cloth to get this off and it did the trick. I followed it with warm water to make sure all residue was gone and it had.

    Skin afterwards

My skin felt and looked a little smoother, a little more rested and I felt it was fresher. I checked my skin the following day and felt I could see the same results which made me feel very happy!

    Top Tip

I got three uses out of one sachet! A third was plenty for one application and I could see the benefits so I didn’t use it all at once. You also may find you don’t even need that as you may want to apply this to only certain areas of the face e.g nose, forehead etc.

    Recommended?

This is a great, affordable mask. Don’t be put off by the colour and the scent isn’t overwhelming. It left my skin in better condition than what it was prior to using it so an absolute winner! This usually retails for 99p (at the time of writing this post) and regularly on a multibuy promotion so not expensive at all!
