  • Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Brightening Micro Polish

Skincare for some people is a necessary evil. It’s something we use everyday to keep our skin clean and healthy. For others skincare is passion, a love, a piece of enjoyment. And I have to say I fall into that particular camp. I like the process of using good skincare products and I love even more having good skin. One product that is in my weekly skincare routine is Naturally Radiant Brightening Micro Polish by Superdrug. When I purchased this it was half price and cost £2.99.

Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Brightening Micro Polish
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve used products from this range before. They’ve provided good results on my skin and I’ve enjoyed using them. Affordable and easy to get hold of, this range is a no brainer for me and I’m always open to using products from the line. I needed a facial exfoliator in my skincare routine, this was half price, and I was happy to try this out.

    What does this do?

Naturally Radiant Brightening Micro Polish is designed to leave skin clearer, smoother and even out skin tone thanks to its exfoliating action.

    Packaging

75g of product comes in a very soft mint green coloured tubed. It’s not fancy, but what this and the whole Naturally Radiant range of products look like are items that are geared towards being natural and good for the skin.

    Consistency & Texture

This comes out like a clear thick gel that you would expect from a face wash, but possibly a little thicker and not as loose and runny. When I looked closely I could see tiny grains within this product which are blueberry seeds.

    Fragrance

Like other products in the range this is has a clean, fresh, a slightly sweet and subtle fruity plant based smell. It’s quite delicate and not overpowering. In a strange but good way, this is quite a neutral scent and should appeal to both women and men.

    How to Use

Use once or twice a week. Massage over wet or dry skin using circular movements. Add a small amount of water to create a foam then rinse off.

    In Use

I didn’t need to use much of this. A finger tip of this Micro Polish was enough to work over my slightly damp face and neck area. I could feel the grains which seemed so small but with movement you could feel their sweeping and resurfacing action. Adding a little water meant that this scrub lightly foamed and gave an almost 2in1 product alternating between a scrub and a face wash which I really enjoyed and felt great on the skin.

My face felt and looked soft, clean, fresh and looked matt. I felt the scrub was very gentle on the skin but still very effective. This was the perfect way to get my skin ready for any additional treatments I wanted to follow on with.

    Recommended?

Y-e-s. This is an affordable facial scrub that works! Easy and enjoyable to use, a great product for any age to slot into a skincare routine. I can see this being a good product to purchase because of its size, ingredients and cost. Love!

**At the time of writing this post ( 29.01.2020 ) this product hasn’t been available on the website and possibly has been discontinued. Definitely worth checking for this in a physical store to see if it’s still available. The range currently is half price.**

  • The Luxurious Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Cleanser

Good skin. That’s what most of us have when we are younger and at some point it sort of goes wrong! I had fabulous skin, if I do say so myself. But as I get older it seems less angelic and more hellish. Hyper pigmentation, irritation, spots and occasionally a feeling of dryness thanks to the weather. Its just fun! It does give me a good excuse to try out new skincare products though. Not wanting to spend a fortune on lotions and potions, I decided to look at replacing my cleansing routine. I stumbled across Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser. 150ml for £2.88 (was on a special price promotion).

    Why did I buy this?

Hot cloth cleansers are known to be a nourishing and effective cleanser. I needed something that would clean my skin without stripping or drying it out, and hopefully soothe it if at any point my skin decided to play up.

    What’s a Hot Cloth Cleanser?

A hot cloth cleanser is a cleanser that tends to be thick in consistency, provides a good and thorough cleans and also a light exfoliation when used with a damp, muslin cloth.

Naturally Radiant Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser
What does this supposed to do?

Cleans the skin, gets rid of make up, impurities and generally grime. It has a mild exfoliating action when using a muslin cloth to remove it so helps to give skin a clean, fresh and smoother look and feel. Aimed towards normal to dry skin types.

    Packaging

Neutral in appearance, pale green in colouring it definitely gives me the ‘ its good for your skin ‘ vibe, with the undertone of it being somewhat natural. Comes in a plastic tube which is boxed, and houses 150ml of product. It also comes with a muslin cloth.

    How to use

On damp skin, rub the hot cloth cleanser onto the face and neck by using a circular motion. Use a muslin cloth that has been placed in hand hot water, ringed out, and use to wipe off product off the face.

    Texture

What I expected. Thicker than a typical lotion but more like a rich cream. White in colouring, and when you squeeze it out it holds it shape. So quite thick but not solid.

    Fragrance

This smells clean, fresh with a slight berry/citrus tone to it. Delightful, unexpected but very nice.

    In Use

I used a decent amount, enough to cover two of my finger tips. This was gently rubbed it into my face for at least a good 3 minutes. It didn’t sink into my skin and it felt very pleasurable to use. I took this over my eyes ( I am a dare devil ) and it didn’t cause irritation, despite having sore eyes thanks to hay fever. Taking this off with my the warm and damp muslin cloth was swift, easy and no residue was left. One thing I can’t comment on is how well this removes make-up as I don’t wear make up, except an eyebrow pencil. That was removed very easily though.

    Skin Afterwards

My skin looked super clean, fresh and looked and felt a little smoother compared to before use. This was after one application. It didn’t feel dry and didn’t look it, but my face was a touch tight. And this is only down to how clean it made my skin. I don’t actually think my face has been this clean at cleansing stage for quite some time and obviously really needed it.

    Recommended?

This delivered exactly what it promised to do, cleanse and smooth my skin. Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Cleanser was easy to use, great texture, lovely scent and left my skin feeling and looking fresher.

This cleanser should last a good 3 months used morning and night which makes this god value even at it’s full price. The gift of good skin couldn’t come any cheaper than this! If this sounds ideal for your skincare routine, get your bargain hot cloth cleanser here now.

  • Beauty Kitchen’s Night Halo Potent Sleep Mask

Anyone else feeling stressed and tired at the moment? I am! My body is holding up quite well, but not my face! To help it out I thought a face skincare mask might revive my dull, tired skin. I dragged out Beauty Kitchen‘s Night Halo Potent Sleep Mask that was gifted to me by a friend hoping this would be just what my skin needed.

Why did I use this mask?

I’ve heard of this brand before but never used any of it’s products. I love their ethos about using natural ingredients which made me interested in their products but never got the chance to purchase any. I was very curious to see how this skincare mask would perform so thought now was the perfect time to test it out.

What is this supposed to do?

This mask is designed to be used on the skin at night and go to sleep with it on! It’s supposed to detox the skin, nourish it and help to give it a well rested feel and look.

    Packaging

This isn’t the full size of Night Halo Sleep Mask but more a travel/mini size. 6 ml of product came in a small screw top lidded tin which is reusable. The tin itself is housed in plastic casing so instructions, ingredients and how to use are visible.

Beauty Kitchen Night Halo Sleep Mask
    How does it look?

I got excited when I took the lid off this for the first time. I LOVE texture! And I love rich textures such as butters and balms. When I saw this mask glistening in its pot, it reminded me very much of balms I’ve used in the past from high end beauty companies and brands. If you haven’t tried or seen balms before, think of a clear potted lip balm and that will give you an idea on how it looks. Not coloured as such but not transparent either, with a natural shine to it.

    Fragrance

Anything like this in my opinion, unless made for those who are super sensitive to fragrance ( even natural ones ) needs a fragrance. Why? Its a treatment and should involve as many senses as possible that will help you to relax, especially before bed time. So this scent is a little surprising as I thought it would smell like lavender which it doesn’t. There’s a subtle zest to it, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say citrus is the strong, zesty way. Pleasant, easy to breathe in and won’t offend anyone scent wise.

    In use

I used this as suggested at night time, after a very VERY long bath. I exfoliated first so that this mask wouldn’t be wasted on dead, dry skin cells. Then I popped a thin layer over my whole face, avoiding the eyes, down my neck and stopped above the bust. Very easy to apply with a small amount going along way. My skin didn’t appear greasy or shiny, but did have the smallest amount of sheen to it. This literally melted between the fingertips and went into the face just as easy. Fragrance was pleasant and quite relaxing and not too strong considering this mask was sitting on my skin for literally hours.

The day after the night before

Despite getting up at 4.30am the next day, and being very tired, I decided to brave it and glance at myself in the mirror. What was obvious to me was that my skin already showed signs of improvement. My skin looked and felt smoother with a much more even look texture wise. I looked much more rested than what I was. I wouldn’t call it a facelift, more a fresher appearance.

    Any surprises?

I thought this teeny pot would only provide one treatment, but I’ve used this at least 3 times and its still quite full. A little does go along way and although you can buy the full sized version, this is an ideal try me size and perfect to travel with.

    Recommended?

Yes! Goodness I LOVE this product! Its quick, easy to apply and going to sleep with this on is perfect for the lazy side of me. The fact this makes you look more human when you wake up is ideal when already tired. Packed full of natural ingredients such as shea butter, sweet almond and bitter orange oil, this really is a gorgeous product that works!

This comes in a variety of sizes and can be bought direct from the Beauty Kitchen or Holland and Barratt for £17.50 for the full size of 60ml.

  • Anti-ageing Nuxe Anti-Fatigue Moisturising Eye Cream

A good eye product is the holy grail for anyone who suffers with dark circles, wrinkles or general tired looking under eyes. I’m definitely one of those people and have tried lots of different gels, serums and creams over the years. Wanting to improve how my under eyes look and feel, I thought it would try a new product to see if it would help. This is why I bought Nuxe’s Anti-Fatigue Eye Cream. I bought this during the January sales at half price at a cost of £7.50 for 15ml.

    Nuxe Anti-Fatigue Moisturising Eye Cream
What is this supposed to do?

This is aimed at tired/stressed eyes. Helping the eye area be more hydrated, combat dark circles and reduce the look of puffiness.

    How to use

Lightly massage product around eyes morning and night.

    Packaging

Quite simple, clean in look. Boxed but the actual product comes in a handy pump action tube which means you can take out exactly how much you need. Very importantly, your fingers only come into contact with the product when you pump it out rather than sticking your finger in a jar. Very hygienic and practical.

    Texture

Although it’s a cream, it feels more part cream part serum. Off white in colour and has a decent thickness to it. When applied or even when sat between my fingers, it sort of melts slightly. Easy to apply and sinks in quickly. Doesn’t leave eyes looking greasy or wet.

    Fragrance

Its such a lovely scent. Quite clean, soothing, very relaxing, almost baby powder like with an added sweetness to. Obvious but not strong and not one you can continue to smell sometime after application. This really made me enjoy using this and makes me hope their body products have a similar scent too.

    On the eyes

I applied this under the eyes and around my brow bone and immediately it had a cooling effect. Once lightly patted in I felt this area was given a much needed boost of moisture. It already gave me a feeling of instant relief. Used in the morning and night time, under my eyes felt better and appearance wise looked less dry and more plumped. Can’t really comment on bags or dark circles as these aren’t major concerns for me, but the hydrating factor gets the thumbs up.

    Recommended?

If you’re suffering from eyes that need to look and feel more alive, this could be for you. Eyes that are dehydrated and tired will in my opinion always look and feel better when they get a good, hard working but gentle product applied to it. This definitely is that! If you have more deeper concerns e.g wrinkles and ageing, you may need a product more tailored to those issues. But this is a lovely eye product which is not only easy to use but pleasurable too.

A great introduction to this brand for me and i would love to try more from the range.
