  • Saving Money On Your Pampering Purchases with Pretty Suds

The last couple of years for most of us has been difficult. The current economic climate just makes times harder and harder. With Christmas coming up, many people still want to celebrate it but not at the cost of their wallet. So where can we save money on products that can pamper the body and fragrance the home? I thought I would try and focus on particular brands, companies and stores to point you in a money saving direction. Today I wanted to highlight a bath, body and home fragrance company called Pretty Suds.

    Pretty Suds

Your bath, body and home fragrance needs are covered under one roof! I’ve bought products before from them and I’ve found them to be great quality, fun to use and affordable. What I like with this business is even though their products aren’t on ‘sale’, they have everyday offers which makes shopping with them cost effective and a breeze.

Here’s some examples of their current offers:

Bath Bomb Box. These are subscription boxes which you can order for monthly delivery, but you can also buy them individually as a one off too. They are themed, and currently there are two bath bomb boxes available called World of Wizardry (inspired by Harry Potter) and Be Our Guest (a nod to Beauty and the Beast). These contain 5 different shaped bath bombs at a cost of £15.00!

Four Bath Bombs for £12.00. Don’t fancy a themed box? You can choose 4 indvidually bath bombs for £12.00 saving £4.00! Bath bombs available range from animals, skulls, Pokemon inspired bath bombs, Princess castles and carriages and more. This option covers so many designs these could be given to different ages with different tastes and likes.

Six Wax Melts for £10.00. Different fragrances are available, and you can choose six wax melts, weighing at 50g, which are boxed. These work out at £1.67 EACH! 50g is a good amount of wax and this price for all six is fantastic value. Fragrances available range from laundry scents, fruity scents and even dupes. Some are inspired by fragrances such as Daisy, Flowerbomb, and…..Lush’s Snow Fairy!

    Other items available..

    Body Butters

    Body Scrubs

    Soap Spongs

    Reed Diffusers and more

February 2019 subscription box containing bath bombs and crumbles
Why should you buy from them?

They have a wide variety of different products available with different appearances and scents. Bath bombs and bubble baths all look fun, appealing and imaginative. Body butters look indulgent and inviting and I SWEAR I can smell the wax melts through my laptop screen! Compared to larger brands and stores, Pretty Suds really do seem to keep their prices fair and their everyday mix and matches, bundles and subscription deals make it even more affordable and great value. Oh…and don’t forget some of their products are fragranced using inspired well-known scents which is great if you are a fan of particular smells but not their prices.

  • Marks & Spencer’s Affordable Rainbow Bath Fizzer

When I think of the British store Marks & Spencer, the first thing I think about is food. They are well known for their food ranges, which although is quality can come at a price! But I never thought about them retailing bath and body products. They sell many, many items that don’t fall into the food or clothing category Including bath fizzers. I picked up Rainbow Bath Fizzer (along with a few others) at the end of August for 49p (reduced from £3.50)!

    Why Did I Buy This?

I went into the store dragging along two, miserable children looking for school shoes. We didn’t buy any but somehow I walked out with a handful of bath fizzers! This looked cute, I thought how ideal this (and others I grabbed) would be for gift giving and they had been reduced to only 49p!BARGAIN!

How does Rainbow Bath Fizzer look?

Like a rainbow! This is a generous sized bath fizzer which nearly covers the palm of my hand. Rainbow shaped, with three colours visible on the top of it, which is pink, pale pink and green. Looking more closely at this there are tiny speckles of dark pink running all the way through it. The texture is typical bath fizzer/bomb like, solid and hard with a chalky feel to it.

Marks & Spencer’s Rainbow Bath Fizzers (and others!)
    Fragrance

Slightly sweet in smell thanks to vanilla. There’s also a perfume like hint to it, like a soft musk, incensy scent. Makes sense as the shrink wrapping that covered this bath fizzer mentioned the fragrance to be vanilla, amber and sandalwood.

    In the bath

I placed this bath fizzer on top of an already run, warm bath and as soon as it hit the water it fizzed and released colour. The main colour it spewed out was pink. Along with the colour was a little froth and foam. This bath fizzer wouldn’t sitting still for a second and danced and twirled around in the bath for at least 5 minutes. Once the smallest piece of bath fizzer disappeared it left a sea of pink.

The bath water didn’t stay the soft purply/pink hue it turned into for long. I noticed the colour (and foam) pretty much disappeared once I got into the bath. Fragrance wise it was quite light when I first put this in the bath, but when I got in I couldn’t pick it up at all.

Being in the bath was nothing special. I even added some bath soak as I felt as if I was just sat in plain water. But there was no drying out of the skin, no irritation, no issues in that way.

I haven’t seen this particular Rainbow Bath Fizzer sold in store again, so I assume that stock has gone to sale heaven. What this has done is made me very open minded to try out other bath and body products from Marks & Spencer because this wasn’t a bad product at all. Could it have been better? Yes. I would have liked a more obvious, stronger fragrance and the colour of the bath water to last longer. But this was great in size and look, performed fabulously in the bath and didn’t irritate my skin (which has been very up and down for me recently). For the price I paid, perfect little stocking/gift fillers. Children, teens would like this and probably some adults too. So not my favourite bath product of all time but definitely NOT the worst. Would I buy this again? Yes, as gifts. For myself? No because I’m incredibly picky with bath bombs/fizzers, that’s just me.

  • Bargain Bath Bombs. Aldi’s Lacura Oh So Sleepy Box Under £1.00!

It’s not that long ago that I tried a bath bomb from Aldi’s Lacura Range in the fragrance of Sugared Berries. And here I am trying out another one! This isn’t just one bath bomb but a boxed set of two, called Oh So Sleepy Box. How much was this set of 2 fragranced bath bombs? 99p!

Aldi’s Lacura Oh So Sleepy 2x Fragranced Bath Bombs
    Why did I buy this?

I actually saw this set when it was first in my local store around Mother’s Day, and it cost £3.99. Intrigued, but I wasn’t tempted enough to buy it. Fast forward a few months later they were reduced to £1.99 and I saw a potential gift idea so I picked up two. Food shop with one kid during half term last week and I spotted these down to 99p! Absolute bargain…so I picked up three boxes!

What do you get & How is it packaged?

2 lavender and bergamot bath bombs weighing 180g each. Housed in a rectangular box which shouts relaxation and night time use because of it’s blue colouring and shapes of stars, eyes and moons all over it. There’s a large clear window on the front which shows the bath bombs inside. Nicely presented.

    The Bath Bombs

Both round, similar in size and look to other regular bath bombs on the market. These are identical except one is a light shade of blue and the other a soft shade of lilac.

    Fragrance

These have a an aromatherapy style fragrance to them. Definite whiffs of lavender and something else which is quite earthy (this probably is the bergamot). This scent wont be to everyone’s taste, but I quite like it! It’s very soothing and calming.

    In the bath

What I liked about these bath bombs was how they behaved in the bath. As soon as they hit the water they fizzed and spun around like crazy. What caught my eye was how the colour of the bath bombs ‘bled’ into the water like ink had been dropped into the tub. The lilac bath bomb slowly changed the water to a lilac shade. And the baby blue bath bomb, surprisingly, made the water turn into a dark shade of blue.

After the fizz (and there was quite a bit as these bath bombs danced around for ages until they disappeared!) there was no bubbles just coloured water. What was noticeable was the fragrance. Light to medium in strength and was enjoyable to experience.

I found both these bath bombs created very relaxing baths. Pleasurably, chilled and very peaceful. Kind to my skin and didn’t dry it out.

    Recommended?

Anyone who reads my posts on bath bombs will know I’m quite particular. But these are actually not bad at all! For the price, this is great value and perfect for those who want a cheap pampering without using an awful, rubbish, bath bomb. These are packaged well, plain in look but you would still want to use them! AND the fragrance is a good strength and stands out. So if you spot these in your local Aldi store, I would definitely recommend grabbing a box, even pick up a few!

  • Bath Time With Aldi’s Lacura Sugared Berries Bath Bomb

I make no secret how much I love the supermarket Aldi. It’s a one stop shop not only for food but also for some affordable and interesting skincare, body care and bath and shower products. So it’s very rare for me not to come home with something from their own brand called Lacura. One of the last purchases I made to indulge in a bit of pampering was Aldi’s Lacura Sugared Berries Bath Bomb. 180g for £1.99.

Aldi’s Lacura Sugared Berries Bath Bomb
    Why did I buy this?

The way this is packaged it’s difficult NOT to notice this so it automatically caught my eye. Not only was it new, a product I like and use, well presented and in a nice fragrance… it was also under £2.00! SOLD!

    Packaging

The packaging of this is striking. I love how this comes in a box because it makes it a touch more special and great for gifting. Very colourful, almost 1960’s like because of the flowery, abstract patterns in pink, yellow, orange, brown and mint green. Fun and not taking itself too seriously.

    The Bath Bomb

Round in shape and a little bigger than a tennis ball. Smooth, chalky like in look and feel and mid pink in colour. No other detailing, one block colour and pretty standard in appearance for a bath bomb.

    Fragrance

Would I describe this as sugared berries? No. There is a slight sweetness to it but I wouldn’t describe it as berry like. I’m not too sure what it does resemble as it’s not distinctive enough. In fact, I would say this leans more towards floral than fruit in fragrance. But even saying that, I still think this isn’t scented enough to categorise it correctly. The fragrance isn’t strong, it’s not unpleasant, just not punchy enough in my opinion.

    In the bath

This fizzed well when placed in the water and immediately released colour, turning the clear water into a beautiful shade of pink. Very inviting. There was no bubbles but a little foam. The bath bomb didn’t disappear fully and needed a helping hand to break up but was easy to do. Did I get much fragrance? There was fragrance but it was soft.

I found this bath very relaxing. The colour of it was quite soothing and the now infused water was non irritating to my currently temperamental skin. I wasn’t too sure how my skin would react to this but no problems in or out of the bath. My skin didn’t dry out or play up, and I noticed a hint of fragrance on my skin.

I can be very particular when it comes to bath bombs. But I thought this one was ok! It didn’t wow me, it didn’t give me the most amazing bath experience ever but I didn’t dislike it either. What it was though was a decent quality product. Nice colour, packaged well, affordable and created a decent bath. Downside? The fragrance! Firstly, it needed to smell like how it was marketed to be. And the fragrance needed to be stronger! Improve this and the bath bomb would be so much nicer to use. Recommended? If you want something basic and cheap and you happen to be in Aldi anyway, it’s a yes from me.
