  • Affordable Stocking Fillers For Christmas Under £4.00

Whether the word ‘Christmas’ brings you out in a sweat or not, it’s coming. Most of us will now be thinking about what to buy our nearest and dearest whereas some have already started purchasing gifts. But what stocking fillers are on the high street that won’t put our credit card into meltdown? I’ve been keeping my eyes open for affordable items that can be purchased if you are looking for pampering products for friends, colleagues, family members and even teens. So what did I find?

Garnier Hydra Bomb Eye Tissue Mask

I’ve used these and they are great! Easy to use, moisturising, cooling and will give the under eye area a temporary pick me up. Ideal for those who love under eye patches/masks, enjoy using skincare and those who are simply tired and need a pampering! A winner as well for pre-teens/teenagers. Only 99p at Home Bargains.

Garnier SkinActive’s Hydra Bomb Eye Tissue Mask
W7 Foot Mask, Exfoliating Foot Mask Treatment & Hand Mask Treatment

These are perfect products for those who maybe use their hands a lot or on their feet for long durations. Or just for those people who like to look after their hands and feet! These are nice and flat so easy to post reasonably cheaply if the recipient isn’t local. Maybe a nice treat to buy all three of these, wrap or place in a card. I found these in Tesco for £2.00 each.

    W7’s Foot & Hand Masks
M&S’s Hand Cream & Hand Balm

Who would have thought M&S would be a good place to grab hand care products that weren’t only effective, packaged nicely AND not expensive? I find these items can get lost in my local store but if you spot them definitely worth grabbing. I’ve personally used their Shea Butter & Honey Hand Balm and thought it was a lovely product. Both hand cream and hand balm are £2.00 each.

M&S’s Hand Cream and Hand Balm
M&S Body Scrub & Body Butter

These are two products I really want to try. The body butter is the same fragrance as the hand cream which together would make a good small gift. But there is something about how the Coconut Body Scrub is packaged (glass jar) that screams luxury to me, but without the price tag. Both cost £3.50 each with the scrub weighing 100g and the body butter 200g.

Treacle Moon’s Warm Winterberry Nights Shower and Bath Gel

I’ve used many Treacle Moon products in the past and they have all been great quality. Warm Winterberry is a new fragrance which I haven’t used but gave it a sniff and the scent is TO DIE FOR! If you love your bath and shower products to be fruity and mouth watering, this is for you! This was in my local Tesco store for £1.95 for 500ml.

Treacle Moon’s Warm Winterberry Nights Shower & Bath Gel

So these are just a few gift ideas that many people can grab from stores local to them. A good time saver if you’re already in a store doing a normal shop anyway (which as a busy mum I love!). All of these are affordable, pampering and easy to use. Great as stocking fillers, part of a gift basket, Christmas Eve box and dare I start mentioning teacher gifts…. Christmas gift giving doesn’t need to be expensive or stressful, so let’s make some purchases simple and cheap!

  • October’s Round Up, Which Products Did I Use?

Like the rest of 2023, October just seems to have come and nearly gone in the blink of an eye. Everyone seems to be gearing up towards the Winter season now, and dare I write the word Christmas? There’s lots of products I want to get my hands on in the next few months, especially now the seasons have changed. But what did I use in October?

    Products used in October
Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches

These were bought at a great price (£1.99 from Home Bargains), lots of under eye patches included so generous amounts of applications and a fun and quirky look to them. But I didn’t find Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches the best under eye patches I’ve ever used. Probably better suited for my 12 year old daughter to use. I doubt I would buy these again for myself.

Autumn Scented Wax Melts From The High Street

I broke out of my usual shopping habits. Instead of buying wax melts from a wax vendor, I picked up three from stores on the high street. All in my opinion ideal scents for Autumn, each one were affordable, easy to get hold of and smelt really good.

Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Scented Wax Melts

One of the three Autumn inspired wax melts I purchased from the high street was Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Scented Wax Melts bought from Home Bargains. An affordable and fragrant warming gingerbread fragranced wax which is perfect to melt this time of year.

    Scrubee Body Butter By LUSH

Scrubee Body Butter By LUSH really confused me. Is it a body butter? Does it exfoliate? Strangely enough it does both while you’re in the shower or bath, which is even more confusing! Great product, smells AMAZING but might be a step too far for those who like their products to be more traditional and simple to use. Although, I’ve found this is brilliant to use on the feet if you want them smoother and softer!

Glow’s Cosy Toes & Winter Glows October Subscription Box

I’m still struggling to get through Glow’s Cosy Toes & Winter Glows October Subscription Box because there’s so much product in this collection! One thing both myself and my daughter have been using and enjoying daily is the body mist. Other products included were a shampoo, soap, whipped soap, magnesium balm and natural deodorant. How much of this will be left before my daughter steals more items I have no idea!

    Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Sheet Mask

I’m a great believer that skincare doesn’t need to be expensive. There will be skincare available on the market that will suit all budgets. Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Sheet Mask is inexpensive, easy to use and incredibly pampering and hydrating and regularly on a price promotion.

    CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum

A hard working product that I’ve been using for over a month now, CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum tackles uneven skin in regards to texture and colouring. I’m using it to deal with issues with hyperpigmentation, and so far so good…I can see results!

    CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum

So this is my round up of products I’ve used in the month of October. As usual, there’s been a mix of everything from home fragrance to body butter scrubs and skincare. No favourites in this mix because they’re so varied. But one thing that stands out is how Scrubee Body Butter smells. It’s absolutely to do die for!

  • Glow’s Cosy Toes & Winter Glows October Subscription Box

I’ve already made it pretty clear how I feel about Glow’s subscription boxes. So is it a massive surprise to find that I purchased October’s subscription box? It wasn’t to me, especially when I found out this would be a body product based selection of goodies. So what was included?

    Cuddles Body Mist

The first thing that struck me was the shape of the dispenser this body most was in. It’s simple but unusual (rounded top and slightly rounded bottom) and I love it! This smells great and has already been taken by my daughter!

    Fruity Deodorant Stick

Natural deodorants are very popular at the moment. I’ve used one before and I’ve loved how it smelt and performed. So I was very excited to see this within October’s subscription box. First thing I noticed was this appears to be a generous size and the smell…oh my goodness! Smells just like the fruity chewing gum strips I used to have as a kid.

    Rainbow Reef Whipped Soap

A beautifully freshly fragranced light and airy whipped soap which is a stunning shade of blue. Whipped soaps are great for those who want a bit of luxury when washing their body and something incredibly moisturising which these traditionally are.

    Glow’s Rainbow Reef Whipped Soap
    Lemon Magnesium Balm

This looks like any balm but this is quite special. Firstly, this is a travel size in a travel appropriate pot which can be hooked onto a bag or strap of some sorts. The balm itself looks balm like and scented in a sweet and zesty citrus lemon fragrance. But what this balm is designed to do is moisturise, help to heal the skin and help with general aches and pains thanks to it’s magnesium content.

    Glow’s Lemon Magnesium Balm
    Funky Monkey Shampoo

The fragrance of Funky Monkey Shampoo is fruit based and mouth watering. This comes in a decent size which should last awhile and the consistency intrigues me. It doesn’t appear very thick, so I can’t wait to see how this performs and see how concentrated it is.

    Re Glow Soap

Packaged in a small box and wrapped in Glow paper, this soap bar has a ginger scent to it with a homely, handmade look and feel with the addition of dried oranges decorating it. This looks very Autumn and Winter inspired, so perfect for this time of year. The fragrance alone makes me want to use this asap as it’s so good!

    Glow’s Re Glow Soap
    Extras

Included as extras was a hairbrush and soap dish holder (don’t ask what I originally thought this was!).

    Price

£25.00 which included postage and packaging.

    First thoughts?

A great selection of products to use on the body which are not only pampering but practical too. All fragrances are fabulous, great mix of textures and consistencies (which I love) and I can’t wait to delve into this box further!

  • Lotus Flower Soap By LUSH

Soap is such an underrated body care product. It’s not as fun as a bath bomb, not as versatile as a shower or bath gel, it’s just a bar of soap. Designed to clean the body and not particularly interesting? But not all soaps are boring, white in colour and smell like freshly washed laundry. I was recently given Lotus Flower Soap by LUSH from a friend and decided to put to one side my usual bar and swapped it for this. This retails for £6.00 for 100g.

    Lotus Flower Soap by LUSH
    Why did I use this?

LUSH as a brand are probably more known for bath bombs and bubble bars, and not so much for soap. Or at least that’s what comes to my mind when I think about them. So I was intrigued and wondered what this would be like. Would I enjoy using this and would it deliver in the same way other products from LUSH do?

What does Lotus Flower Soap do?

Lotus Flower Soap isn’t designed to just clean the skin, but it also exfoliates it and moisturises it too. Containing rice bran oil, cocoa butter and coconut oil, this should be a practical cleansing item that removes dirt but not take away the skin’s natural oils.

    How does it look?

Like many products from LUSH, this has a handmade look and feel to it. Not perfectly rectangular, but this is a flat, pink coloured sliced bar of soap. There are tiny dark coloured speckles in this dotted through randomly which I assume gives the exfoliating action.

    Fragrance

This smells floral but in an almost sweetie like way. It’s as if someone has mixed together flower heads with a little sugar, berries and sweeties! I personally like how this smells because it’s not a heavy ‘just floral’ scent but a blend of other things making this a fun and almost mouth watering fragrance.

    In the shower

I used this soap in two ways. The first I rubbed this directly onto damp skin. It created a little foam but I would call it foam and not bubbles. I could feel the grains in the soap on my skin, but only slightly. So not enough in the soap to give a true exfoliation. I also noticed that the bar was a little on the soft side. Was it due to it not being particularly thick? Or made this way? Not too sure. But it did make me cautious when using this as I didn’t want it to break.

The second time I used this was much better. I rubbed it into a damp sponge which then went onto my body. It created beautifully creamy and rich foam which glided over my body and was pleasurable to use. The fragrance was there too but softly which I appreciated. Easy to rinse off and left my skin feeling very clean and fresh.

My skin after coming out of the shower didn’t feel dry it actually felt very moisturised, as if I had already used a light body lotion. And my skin was lightly fragranced too.

    Recommended?

Lotus Flower Soap by Lush looks and smells great. It does what you need it to do in regards to cleaning the skin on the body. I didn’t expect it to be as moisturising, which I loved. Overall I really enjoyed using this product. £6.00 isn’t something everyone would want to spend on a soap but if you do I would recommend it. What I wouldn’t do is think this will exfoliate. It’s not a scrub, it provides more of a tickle, so you would need a different product to do that. But I’m very impressed with this and glad I got a chance to try it out!
