  • The Luxurious Philosophy’s Pure Grace Whipped Body Crème

Becoming a mum means disposable income rarely is spent on myself. Before kids I would spend £20.00 on a body oil and not even flinch. Now, that £20.00 is more likely to go on toys or clothing for my children rather than on expensive lotions and potions for me. But I still love good quality products. The key is be more savvy with how much money I spend on them. One brand (definitely not considered a budget one) I love is called Philosophy. I’ve got a few of their products stashed away including their Whipped Body Crème in their Pure Grace fragrance.

Philosophy’s Pure Grace Whipped Body Creme
    Why did I use this?

I’ve used Philosophy’s Whipped Body Crème‘s before. It’s one of those products if I don’t use it for awhile I forget how good it is. Then I use it and can’t put it down! And that’s why I started to use this again, because I missed it!

    Philosophy The Brand

If you haven’t heard of Philosophy they are a US company that creates and sells a variety of beauty products that range from fragrances to body lotions, face creams to cleansers and more.

    Packaging

120ml of product is in a medium sized jar finished off with a screw top lid. Writing in black on the label e.g brand and product name, ingredients etc. Not fuss, very classy and totally unisex.

    Texture

This whipped body crème isn’t thin or runny as a body lotion. But it’s not thick or emollient like as a body butter. It seems to hold its shape in the tub, but when I take this out to use it’s a very whipped, light and airy soft consistency.

    On the skin

This was very easy and quick to rub in. I didn’t need to use too much. Once it was rubbed into my skin it felt soft and smooth. My skin had a healthy, hydrated sheen to it which wasn’t greasy or oily in look or feel. I could put my clothes on straight away and I was good to go. Considering this wasn’t thick and body butter like, it was super moisturising and my skin loved it!

    Fragrance

Imagine that fresh, clean, just come out of the shower or washed your hair type of scent and this is it. To say it smells like soap and water doesn’t do it justice but it sort of describes it so well.

    Let’s Talk Price!

This isn’t cheap. For a jar twice the size of mine, direct from Philosophy, it costs £29.00. I didn’t pay this as I bought it in a set. But with all the other pieces that it came with made it great value. A premium product from a brand that sits in department stores in the US and the UK will have a price tag that relates to this.

    Recommended?

You can spend as much or as little as you like on a body product, it’s whatever suits your budget and your needs. Despite the fact this isn’t for everyone’s taste price wise, this really is a beautiful product. The fragrance is AMAZING! The texture is luxurious and deceptively moisturising on the skin. This does everything you want from a body moisturiser and a little bit more. So if you were looking for something special and willing to pay for it, this would be a brilliant buy.

    • TOP TIP! Do what I did and look out for this in a gift set to get the best value. This product and others from the Pure Grace range can be bought direct from Philosophy, QVC, Boots just to name a few places. Happy shopping!

  • Druid & The Witch’s A little Bit Of Magic Bath & Shower Whip

Having a shower doesn’t mean you have to use a shower gel or a bar of soap. The body care industry consists of so many products it’s insane! If I look into my bath and shower stash there are soaps, shower gels, scrubs, soap sponges and even shower whips. Last year I purchased a specially priced box of bath and shower goodies from a small business called Druid & The Witch. One of the first products I tried was their bath & shower whip called A little Bit of Magic.

    What’s a whipped soap?

A whipped soap is literally what the name suggests. Its not a solid bar of soap or a liquid soap, it’s a soap that tends to be of a similar consistency to thickly whipped cream. You use it the same way you would use a more traditional form of soap to clean the body in either the bath or shower.

    Packaging

100g of whipped soap is housed in a clear lidded tub and labelled. It’s nothing sophisticated, in fact it’s incredibly basic. But it does the job and has a handmade and packaged sort of look to the product.

    How does it look?

A massive reason why I love whipped soaps is how they look. This whipped soap is mid purple in colour. It literally looks like someone has piped buttercream into a tub because of the shape its made into. This really does look edible and totally inviting.

Druid & The Witch A Little Bit of Magic Bath & Shower Whip
    Fragrance

It’s predominately a citrus scent, but sweet rather than zesty. Scent wise this isn’t far off from resembling a juicy, ripe peach so quite mouth watering. Fresh and almost sweetie like but not in a synthetic way.

    In the shower

I’ve only used this in the shower and not in the bath. For my whole body I could’ve used a tablespoon sized amount, but I’m greedy and used more. When I took this out, I found the texture of A little Bit Of Magic Bath & Shower Whip semi solid. Think of a body butter but a little denser and you will get an idea on how this is textured. On a sponge and under a warm, flowing shower, this lathered up beautifully and the foam was creamy, white, soft and a joy to be covered in. It cleaned my body perfectly and left my skin with it’s faint fruity fragrance. Skin after shower was clean, soft, not dry and ready to receive any other products I wanted to put onto it. And as a psoriasis sufferer no irritation, and I wasn’t desperate to follow up with a body lotion or cream.

    Recommended?

I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for a great quality whipped soap and I’ve found one! This is GORGEOUS! It looks amazing, it smells divine and my skin loved it so much I can’t wait to try the other scents.

  • SBC’s Coconut & Plumeria Shimmer Skincare Gel

We seem to be getting a last wind of Summer here in the UK thanks to some heat and sun. How long this will last for who knows, but no doubt if it’s dry and pleasant we will all enjoy it while we can. One body product I’ve been using on and off depending on the weather has been SBC’s Coconut & Plumeria Shimmer Skincare Gel. I originally bought this as a 4 piece set from the shopping channel QVC when it was a TSV ( Today’s Special Value ) a few months ago.

SBC’s Coconut & Plumeria Shimmer Skincare Gel
    What is this?

It’s a gel you put on the skin and it gives the skin a shimmer effect while providing moisture.

    Packaging

This gel comes in different sizes but mine is 500ml. Housed in a tall plastic bottle with a pump action dispenser. Totally clear, with a simple picture on the front giving an idea on what the scent of this is, along with product name and on the back ingredients list and directions to use.

    Appearance & Consistency

Not typical of the other SBC gels I’ve used in the past. They’ve been semi translucent but with colour. This one is a pearly white colour because of the shimmer in it, so definitely has a opalescence appearance. Texture is part lotion part gel. It holds its form to a degree when pumped out but very loose when rubbed in.

    Fragrance

You wouldn’t guess how this smells with the name it has, or at least I didn’t! This is quite earthy in scent. Earthy in a plant way more than flowery but very clean. The coconut element is there but minus the sweetness and is probably the last thing you can smell once inhaled. I think this helps to give it a slight creaminess to it rather than tropical fruit. Very unusual and not something I’ve smelt scent wise before.

    On the body

Very easy and quick to apply because of how fluid it was. It literally moved over the skin and rubbed in like a dream, and sunk in super fast. You don’t need much but you really can’t overdo it, and I found it easy to layer this up if and when I needed added moisture. I would say my skin tends to be normal and occasionally dry but at the moment no issues with dryness, so this gave me the hydration I needed and skin felt very moisturised after application.

It didn’t leave a tacky layer on the skin which meant I could get dressed straight away. Skin felt soft and smooth but appeared matt and not greasy. I would suggest not to dump a massive amount of this on the body. Three pumps for the whole body was ample for me. The thicker the layer the longer it will sink in so less is more. Need more? Apply thin layers one after the other.

    Shimmer, Shimmer!

This sounds crazy but I totally forgot this had a shimmer to it. I didn’t really focus on this when looking at the gel in the bottle or even when first pumped out. It was only when both myself and my 10 year old son had used it one evening after a shower and he sat next to me. We both looked at each other’s arms and I felt like we were part of the Cullen family from Twilight! To say this kept us entertained is an understatement!

It really glistens in the light. Its so pretty as its fine and delicate as the particles are so tiny, but really gives you a classy bling covering without over or under doing it. And….. it last forever! It doesn’t matter if you’ve put sun cream over the top, got dressed and clothes have touched the skin, it’s still there. It comes off when you want it to though e.g having a bath or shower so not permanent.

    Recommended?

Now…. I LOVE this gel! The scent is very different. The texture makes it a dream to apply. Ideal for summer thanks to how lightweight it is and the shimmer effect.

The scent is something that some people will like and some won’t. It took me by surprise as it didn’t smell like how I imagined it would but its very much grown on me. And because its very different I love it! This doesn’t smell tropical more botanical. For the shimmer alone in my opinion its worth every penny. Want to ‘ shine like a diamond ‘ and try this out? You can buy this direct from SBC here in different sizes starting from 100ml ( on offer at time of writing this post ) priced at £4.50 to £15.00 ( 500ml ), or visit QVC where they have this product on its own or in various sets ready for you to experience.

  • Luxurious Lolly & Moo Crystal Ball Whipped Soap

These days a bar of soap or a bath or shower gel is not the only way to wash our bodies. The imagination of companies and businesses in this area is pretty impressive, which means as customers we get variety and choices to match our needs, wants and budgets. A product that falls into this category as got to be a whipped soap! And using Lolly & Moo’s Crystal Whipped Soap that was released last year was an experience. It costs £8.50 for 140g.

Lolly & Moo Crystal Whipped Soap
    Why did I use this?

I’ve enjoyed using whipped soaps. It’s a great and fun alternative to other products you could use in the bath or shower. All of the whipped soaps I’ve bought have been from Lolly & Moo. So when they made and released Crystal Whipped soap last year I HAD to try it because it looked and sounded amazing!

    What’s a Whipped Soap?

If you’re not too sure what a whipped soap is, its exactly what it sounds like. It’s a soap that has been whipped and fluffy in texture and you use it to wash your body with. You use it the same way you would with a bar, pop it on a sponge or on your hand and wash you body.

    How does it look?

This whipped soap comes in a clear jar so you can see exactly what you are getting. Lilac in colour, and literally piped into it’s packaging giving an edible ice-cream look to it. Sprinkled with dark purple mica pigment, gold and silver glitter and tiny silver stars. And how could I forget the semi-precious stone placed on the top like that very important cherry on top of a cake? This whipped soap could easily be THAT cake you dribble over while passing counters selling delicious cakes and pastries in your favourite supermarkets, restaurants or cake shops. This..is.. SUNNING!

    Texture

Airy and light, but this has a good thickness to it. Very easy to use and feels very luxurious. If you could use a body butter to wash with that had been whipped to an inch of its life, this is how I would describe the texture to be.

    Fragrance

Inspired by a well known fragrance, this SMELLS like a perfume! First thing I pick up on is floral. Its not a strong floral but definitely a fresh one. There’s a hint of citrus, a little sweetness and lastly musk which gives it depth. Its a gorgeous fragrance, easy and pleasant to smell and just the right strength to enjoy.

    On the skin

When I say you don’t need much you really don’t. An amount the size of the tip of you finger placed on a sponge, is ample. With the addition of warm water from the shower this foamed up beautifully. It’s like bathing in something that could be a body moisturiser, it feels that hydrating. Cleans the skin without drying it, and gives it that hit of moisture thanks to ingredients such as apricot kernel oil.

    Recommended?

YES! It does what its supposed to do which is to clean the skin, but its so much more than that. The way it look, it’s so enjoyable to use and it keeps my skin in great condition while washing it. This is affordable luxury at its best!
