Home fragrance products are very popular. It doesn’t matter what form they come in, people buy them. Wax melts, room sprays, oils, candles, reed diffusers, these can be bought anywhere with varied price points. Visiting my local supermarket ASDA I noticed a few home fragrance products reduced in price, including candles and reed diffusers. So what did I spot?
Special Priced Candles & Reed Diffusers On Sale In Asda
Various Sized Candles by Yankee Candles
I saw different sized and fragranced candles from the brand Yankee Candlein the candle section of ASDA. But the ones that caught my eye were the large versions, weighing 580g each. I spotted quite a few fragrances but took note of Pick & Mix and Citrus Spice. Each one priced at £5.50. These would be perfect scents for Spring/Summer.

Hygge by Aroma Works Reed Diffusers
Lime & Frankincense and Vetivert & Petitgrain scented reed diffusers from Hygge by AromaWorks where also reduced in price. These were just two of the few different versions I found fragrance wise, with these being priced at £3.00 each (last Friday these went down further to £1.50 each!).
Hygge by AromaWorks Reed Diffusers
Sweet Pistachio Reed Diffusers by ASDA
For only £1.50, I was tempted to buy ASDA’s own branded Sweet Pistachio Reed Diffusers. I’ve used some of their reed diffusers before and thought they were very good. The price of these was very affordable.
So these are just a few home fragrance products I recently found in ASDA at special promotional prices. Much lower than what they would normally be which makes these really good buys if you wanted to purchase them. I found not all stores have the exact same deals on at the same times, so worthwhile checking what your store has available.
Don’t you just love a new product launch? I do! I’ve been enjoying many hours of home fragrancing thanks to wax melts and wax melt snap bars from a UK based wax vendor called Glow. Glow have recently released a new waxy product to the market in the form of candles. And I was lucky enough to have been given Fairy Laundry and Magical Dreams candles to try out. So what do I think?
Glow’s Fairy Laundry & Magical Dreams Candles
Packaging
These are small, clear, glass jar candles, with a slightly rounded lid with a stopper style action. These lids are easy to pull off and put back on. Very secure but not hard to remove. Lots of candles on the market are presented like this. It works because it’s practical, they look nice and are good quality. Labeling ties in with the rest of the Glow wax products. Simple but effective.
The Wax
Fairy Laundry is off white in colour. Magical Dreams is a creamy tangerine/orange colour. Both suit their scent names colour wise. The wax has no (obvious) glitter, variations in colour or anything like that, so a simple block colour. These candles are made from a blend of soy paraffin wax and provide up to 12 hours of burning time each if used correctly.
Fragrance
Fairy Laundry – oh my. As someone who loves a laundry scent I was excited about this one! This is a fresh and clean. It’s what I would call laundry in it’s purest form. Clothes that have been freshly washed and smell like it. There is a powdery note to this with floral (think white florals) and it’s just gorgeous!
Magical Dreams – imagine a blend of fruits which has a slight effervescence to it, sweet, slightly sherbet like and mouth watering? This is it in a jar!
When lit
These melted down slowly and evenly. While the wax went from a solid to a liquid, I was very surprised to see a slight shimmer to the wax. Very subtle and very pretty. I adore a bit of sparkle to my wax so this went down very well for me!
Fairy Laundry was placed in my downstairs toilet. I was worried the fragrance wouldn’t travel around this area well but it really did. It beautifully scented this space with a medium strength clean fragrance which is ideal for the room this was placed in.
Magical Dreams was placed in two areas. Firstly in the bathroom, and then in my bedroom. I got the fragrance of this in both rooms but felt it worked better in the bathroom as it’s smaller and more standard in shape.
For bigger rooms I think a bigger size of these candles would be better. But these have provided natural and welcoming scents that have been a pleasure to enjoy. So far each jar has been melting for a total of 4 hours so many more hours to go!

Wax Vendor VS High Street
The imagination and variety that small wax vendors have compared to supermarkets, discount stores and other places on the high street is vast. I can’t think of any fragrance I’ve wanted that wasn’t available in wax form from a wax vendor. Expect to see the expected in your local discount stores or shops. But wax scents from wax vendors include the more unusual, bespoke and interesting. This is why the majority of my wax purchases are from small, independent businesses who focus their time and energy into making home fragrance products, like Glow.
Recommended?
I’m more of a wax melt fan than a candle one. Candles tend to be used for decoration in my house. But using these made me realise why I started using candles years ago! Glow’s candles are beautifully scented, the scent throws well and the way the wax melts is hypnotic! So definitely recommended. Currently available in the following scents: Birthday Cake, Velvet Sugar, Lychee Martini, 1000 Wishes, Sundown, Sleepy, Fairy Dust, Fairy Laundry, Badedas and Magical Dreams. These jars cost £6.00, but if you visit the website here and use the code PROMO, they go down to £4.20. Happy shopping!
Aldi can be a very VERY dangerous supermarket to shop in. I swear I only go in for something boring but essential like milk and pasta, but come out with various lotions, potions and home fragrance! I can’t hate the fact that they sell a wide variety of products in their stores, it’s just my credit card that isn’t too keen. So I thought I would share with you what I bought last week from my local store that was NOT food related and didn’t cost me a small fortune!
My Aldi Haul
Hotel Collection Votive Gift Set
2 votive glasses with 12 peony fragranced tealights, beautifully presented in a very pretty box. This popped out at me immediately as I scanned their middle aisle sections. There was another version of this. Same set but the fragrance was rose and the box was red. I didn’t buy this for myself I promise! This to me was a brilliant gift idea and I already had a person in mind who I would give this to as a birthday present, so grabbed it. I’m guessing this votive gift set was part of their Valentine’s Day range because of how it looked and the fact it was now reduced. Originally priced at £4.99 now £2.99.

Lacura’s Moisturising Hand Cream with Oatmeal & Glycerin
An obvious dupe for the Aveeno range because of how it’s presented and it’s key ingredient being oatmeal. As an Aveeno lover, I couldn’t help but notice this every time I visited my local store, wondering if it’s actually any good in general and anything similar quality wise to Aveeno. And who doesn’t love a good hand cream anyway? In the basket it went! 69p for 75ml.
Lacura’s Moisturising Hand Cream
Lacura’s Deep Cleansing Bubble Mask
I’ve walked past this so many times trying to ignore it and I finally caved! I don’t NEED another mask but I see the word ‘bubble’ and that was the deal breaker. Containing bamboo, charcoal, Chamomilla Flower Extract, this mask is designed to make skin look more radiant. Oh, and remove make-up! £1.49 contains once mask.
Lacura’s Deep Cleansing Bubble Mask
So my total for these three items was £5.17. That isn’t bad is it? If you are an Aldi shopper, I would always suggest to keep your eyes peeled instore and be open minded to give some of their own range products a go. You never know what affordable treat, gift or everyday item you may find for the face, body or home.
Let’s talk wax melts. There is no doubt that fragrancing rooms and homes with wax melts is still incredibly popular. It is in my house that’s for sure! I have been super good and not bought any so far in 2022, my last purchase of 2021 came from a wax vendor called Fragrantasia. Rather than it being one or two pieces that arrived, I paid for an open box. And for any wax melt lover that hasn’t used this service before it’s a game changer!
My Fragrantasia Wax Melt Open Box
What’s an Open Box?
An open box is quite a common thing with some small wax melt companies. You can order what you want and add to your order whenever you like. When you want the whole lot shipped to you, you pay for postage and your order is delivered. I might fancy 3 wax melts today so I order them. I then get paid in 2 weeks and I buy 4 more then. Oh, there’s a sale on so I’m going to buy 10. And I’ve now decided that’s all I want so I pay my p&p and get all 17 pieces posted to me. And THAT’S what I did with Fragrantasia. I bought bit by bit of what I fancied and then closed it when I was done.
Fragrantasia’s Wax Chunk Pots
What did I get?
I got quite a few things over a number of months. Some were popped into Christmas presents but some I’ve kept for myself. My open box included Halloween inspired scents, everyday best seller waxes and Christmas ones too. Here are some of the scents included:
I took advantage of having an open box and I bought a range of different scents from different times of the year. Have I started melting these? Unfortunately not! I’ve been kept busy with my wax melt advent calendar from Fragrantasia so my wax warmers have been very busy since December! But I’m very excited to try all of these as they look and smell amazing (from their little packets).
Halloween Inspired Scented Wax Melts
So, if like me you love your wax and buy them from small businesses who specialise in making and/or selling them, find out if they do an open box. I’ve reviewed various wax melts from Fragrantasia and been more than happy with what I’ve tried so I highly recommend them. I’m so pleased to see them back after their Christmas break. Their website is up and running, with some fantastic blends and shapes ready to be melted in your wax warmer of choice.
So after browsing their website, what would YOU want to melt?
