  • Going Wild Over A Natural Deodorant

Deodorants are THAT product I buy regularly for my household. Not only do I need to buy them for myself but also for one teenager and one pre-teen. Both are at that age where their appearance and hygiene are very important to them. So I’m always on the look out for effective and gentle products that can freshen and lightly fragrance the under arm area for all of us. That’s why I gave the brand Wild a go. For the cost of the p&p (under £3.00), I ordered two travel sized deodorants which included Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt and Jasmine & Mandarin Blossom. Both 17g each.

    Why did I get these?

I’ve noticed lots of posts on social media mentioning this brand and it’s products recently which got me interested. Many highlighting special promotional deals because these do cost more than the standard deodorants available in a supermarket or discount store. So rather than buying full size at possible full price, I opted for the more affordable option to see if I actually liked these.

    What’s special about Wild’s deodorants?

Their deodorants are made from natural ingredients rather than filled with things such as aluminium and parabens, which some people don’t want to use. Their full sized products are refillable. Once the refill has been used, you can insert another one into the casing which takes away the constant use of plastic.

    Packaging

These travel sizes are presented the same way as a lip balm. Slightly bigger in size but housed in a small cylinder. The sleeve is the lid and to get more of the deodorant out you need to push the bottom. Not made from plastic but cardboard. I love how simple this looks with the splash of colour, very individual and stands out.

How does the deodorant actually look?

It looks like a lip bam in it’s packaging and actually LOOKS like a lip balm product wise. It’s solid, while in colour and the texture of it is balm like. It looks so much like a lip product I’ve warned my daughter not to attempt to put it on her face!

    Fragrance

The two fragrances I received were Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt and Jasmine & Mandarin Blossom. Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt is just glorious! It’s a beautiful fresh and clean scent that couldn’t offend anyone. A mix of traditional fragrance cotton with an added slightly salty, mineral hit. Jasmine & Mandarin Blossom is a soft, feminine floral with the tiniest fruitiness to it. It doesn’t stand out as much as Fresh Cotton but still smells really good.

    In use

My preferred way to fragrance my underarm is to use a spray. Although this felt a little alien to me it was quick, strangely satisfying to apply that not only gave this area fragrance but moisturisation too. It didn’t leave any marks once rubbed in, wasn’t sticky and I threw my clothes on straight away.

I would say this performed well. It kept my underarms very fresh in feel and scented all day. Did I reapply this? Only in the evening after I had a bath. It is hard to say whether this performed better than my usual deodorant spray but it did it’s designed job very well.

    Recommended?

This is an interesting product. I was impressed by the size, packaging, ease of use, fragrance and how fresh I felt after use. Getting the opportunity to use this without paying the full retail price was such a good idea. I can’t actually fault this! And I will be looking at purchasing this for myself and my children in the near future.

The travel sized deodorants are available direct from Wild in various combinations and costing £10.00 and £16.00 for 3 or 5 of them. Full sized and refillable versions are available from various places such as Boots, Holland & Barratt and a handful of supermarkets. Prices are around £12.00 for the case and 1 refill and refills £6.00 each. But keep an eye out for special promotions with different retailers to save a few pounds.

I didn’t think deodorants could be such great buys but I was wrong!

  • Primark’s PS Love Opal Crush Eau de Toilette

Most of us will have a collection of fragrance products. My daughter is no exception to this. At the age of 12 she seems to have gathered a varied mix of fragrances in different shapes, forms and strengths. All bought (of course) by the Bank of Mum. One fragrance I bought for her 12th birthday was Primark’s PS Love’s Opal Crush Eau de Toilette. This cost £4.50 for 50ml.

Primark’s PS Love Opal Crush Eau de Toilette
    Why did I buy this?

Primark has a good selection of fragrances. This particular one caught my eye because of the packaging. The scent notes sounded like a good combination (they’re on the box) and if I recall correctly there was a tester so I used it and it smelt pretty good! The price was affordable and overall this made a good gift for the birthday girl.

    Packaging

Opal Crush is housed in a glass bottle. Not totally rectangular in shape because the edges are curved with mint green detailing on the label and the lid. The bottle comes boxed, mint green in colour with a perfume bottle shape cut out of the front so you can see the actual bottle inside. Not extravagant in packaging but easy on the eye.

    Scent Notes

    Oriental, floral and vanilla.

    Fragrance

This is quite a Summer feeling fragrance, thanks to it containing feminine florals. I’m not too sure what type of floral it is but there might be a hint of rose but only lightly. Mixed with the floral is a hint of comforting and sweet vanilla, which I love anyway. I’m not getting much in an oriental scented way but what I do get is something powdery. Overall it’s a great scent that would appeal to most people.

    Strength & Longevity

When I first applied this (onto clothes), I would say this was a light to medium but more closer to light. It’s such a nice scent it could have been stronger but it wasn’t. But that’s my personal preference. I was quite generous with the amount I used hoping it would last all morning while in work. I noticed it at the start of the day but by mid morning I only got a light whiff of this scent. So longevity for me wasn’t long and I couldn’t reapply it to boost the fragrance while the scent became softer. Both strength and longevity was low for me.

    Did my daughter like it?

Strangely enough no she didn’t! She’s a very fickle person so she might dislike it one minute and love it the next. But she wasn’t keen on how it smelt overall. I think she prefers her fragrances to be more fruity and sweetie like rather than floral.

    Recommended?

Although presented nicely with a great scent, I wouldn’t recommend this fragrance to everyone. It just didn’t deliver the punch and staying power needed for it to stand out or wow me. BUT for my daughter this is more acceptable because she doesn’t need overpowering fragrances. So if you want something affordable and pretty in scent but light, then this would be fine. But honestly? This should and could have been much better because I’ve used body mists that performed better.

  • Summer Perfect So…? Unique Floral Night Body Mist

I’ve created a monster, literally! My soon to be 12 year old is a bigger fragrance junkie than me which I didn’t think was possible. No longer is she happy using my body mists, eau de toilettes and anything else, she wants her own too! So I recently bought her So…? Unique Floral Night Body Mist from Boots. I picked this up for half price costing me £2.99 instead of £5.99.

So…? Unique Floral Night Freesia & Plum Body Mist
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve bought her body mists from this brand before and she loved them! So much so she’s been asking me to replace them with the same or similar scents. When I saw this the price was perfect, the scent name sounded nice and I thought she would enjoy using it.

    Packaging

So…? Unique Floral Night is housed in quite a chunky spray bottle. Gold lid, transparent bottle but tinted purple. The shape of the bottle is a little different than others on the market. The labelling is basic (pictures of flowers on it) and something you would see on a cheaper priced product in my opinion. But it’s not unappealing and pleasant enough on the eye.

    Fragrance

This is a mix of florals and fruity flavoured effervescent sweets! That’s the best way I can describe it. The floral element is pretty and feminine. The fruity part is sweet, juicy with a hint of peach and creamy vanilla but has a slight fizziness/energy to it. I love it!

    Strength & Longevity

When first applied this is a medium. The fragrance immediately hit me and I was grateful for it. It’s such a noticeable scent if you apply it you will smell it. Longevity wise I wish it was a bit better. I put this on in the morning (on clothing not on skin, I never do that) and over 4 hours later I got the smallest hit of this. In fairness, it’s been very hot and I’ve noticed this can change how a fragrance behaves but I wanted more. But like any affordable body mist there was nothing stopping me from reapplying when needed so not a massive issue but could be better.

    Does my daughter like this?

It lives in her school bag. She puts this on in the morning and goodness knows how many times in the day because I can definitely smell it on her when she comes home. When I first gave her this she got excited saying how nice this smelt and how she loves it. And if I use this I get an evil side eye in my direction so it’s safe to say it’s thumbs up from her!

So…Unique Floral Night & Sweet Amber
    Recommended?

Despite the longevity side of things I really adore this fragrance. In fact, it’s probably one of my favourited body mists EVER! The fragrance is just so gorgeous I could wear this morning, noon and night. This would appeal to anyone who loves fruity scents and some floral lovers would like this too. Lots of different ages would use and enjoy this. For the price I paid you can afford to use this constantly and I would definitely buy this again if on a special promotion.

  • Primark’s PS Elements Night Pour Homme Eau de Toilette

Buying toiletries for a teenage boy is not my idea of fun. Will they like it? Are they going to use it? Will they leave it on the bus or possibly use the latest purchase as a football on the way home from school? The weird and the wonderful happens with my son but for some reason he still wants his mummy to buy him all his shower, body and fragrance products. It’s trial and error buying him these types of things but I gave it a go a few months ago and I purchased for him Primark’s PS Elements Night Pour Homme Eau de Toilette 50ml for £4.50.

Primark’s PS Elements Night Pour Homme Eau de Toilette
    Why did I buy this?

My son has become more and more interested in fragrance. For his 14th birthday I wanted to pick up a fragrance that smelt nice and was quite masculine and grown up, attractive in packaging and affordable. After seeing this during a visit to Primark I thought this fragrance might tick all those boxes.

    Packaging

Primark’s PS Elements Night comes in a a dark grey bottle. Small, with slightly curved edges around the top making the bottle look interesting and less generic. Finished off with a black lid, this fragrance looks like it’s geared towards the guys and looks simple but stylish. This also comes boxed which mirrors the look of the bottle colour and design wise.

    Fragrance

This is quite a woody fragrance. But there’s also hints of being quite clean and fresh with the smallest amount of sweetness behind it. On the box it says this fragrance contains sandalwood, cedar and citrus which explains where the different elements come from that I can smell. It’s very masculine in the traditional sense scent wise but I don’t feel it’s old fashioned. I can imagine this being worn by any age and it would suit anyone.

    Strength & Longevity

Strength wise this is a medium. This isn’t overpowering but does delivery that burst of energy as soon as its applied. Does the strength stay constant? I would say no. It sort of settles and dies down a little but it’s still there and I can still smell it. Longevity is ok. A few hours after applying this the fragrance didn’t disappear but was softer. Longevity could be better but it’s not bad at all. Also to note, yes, I tested this on myself and applied it onto my clothing. Not only did I use this on it’s own but layered it underneath a floral fragrance of mine and it worked beautifully!

    What does my son think?

He likes it! If he didn’t it would be shoved in a black hole in his room somewhere but it’s actually on display in the unholy mess he calls his bedroom. He’s smelt it, used it and approves.

    Recommended?

In a simple word ‘yes’! The price point is affordable and the amount of fragrance is what I would expect. How this is packaged and presented is nicely done. And the fragrance is really good. Longevity could be a little better but for under £5.00 there’s nothing to complain about.
