  • Affordable Fragrance Christmas Gifts For Under £10.00

Fragrance is one of the most popular gift ideas for anytime of the year and any occasion, especially for Christmas. For just one designer fragrance it can be expensive. Some of the cheapest forms of fragrances to buy are either in body spray or body mist form or to avoid designer names in the fragrance field entirely. There are lots of budget friendly fragrance sets on the high street ready to purchase for Christmas gifts right now. So what’s available, and affordable, ready for the festive season?

Miss So..? Mini Body Spray Fragrance Set

At 50ml each and four fragrances to choose from, this collection of body sprays will make a good stocking filler or small gift for that person who loves their scents on the sweet side. This is one set I would purchase for my daughter, so great for the pre-teens especially. £3.99 from B & M.

Miss So…? Mini Body Sprat Set
    Missguided Eau De Parfum Set

There’s a few different fragrances available in this Missguided duo set. This set contains 2 x 15ml fragranced products and is packaged really nicely and would appeal to different age ranges. £6.99 from B & M.

Designer Fragrances Men & Women’s Gift Sets

I love Designer Fragrances as a brand because they are affordable and good quality in both the men and women’s fragrance products. I’ve used them myself and also my son and daughter have too. So to be able to get these in gift sets not only is a great gift idea but great value! The women’s comes with two body sprays and one 50ml eau de parfum. The men’s contains one body spray and one eau de parfum. Each set contains just one fragrance scent. £4.99 each from Home Bargains.

    Layering Lab’s Mini Mists Set

Another body mist based collection is Layering Lab’s Mini Mists Set which includes four different fragranced body mists at 50ml each. There were two different sets available, one being Summer scented fragrances and the other the more classic, readily available fragrances in this range. Available from Superdrug, £3.99 per set with a Superdrug loyalty card, or £6.99 without.

    Layering Lab’s Mini Mists Set

All of these gift sets are priced well and would be appreciated by many different people (me included). Hopefully these suggestions will give anyone struggling for gift ideas on the cheap some ideas and point them in the right direction.

  • Glow’s Cosy Toes & Winter Glows October Subscription Box

I’ve already made it pretty clear how I feel about Glow’s subscription boxes. So is it a massive surprise to find that I purchased October’s subscription box? It wasn’t to me, especially when I found out this would be a body product based selection of goodies. So what was included?

Glow’s Cosy Toes & Winter Glows October Subscription Box
    Cuddles Body Mist

The first thing that struck me was the shape of the dispenser this body most was in. It’s simple but unusual (rounded top and slightly rounded bottom) and I love it! This smells great and has already been taken by my daughter!

    Glow’s Cuddles Body Mist
    Fruity Deodorant Stick

Natural deodorants are very popular at the moment. I’ve used one before and I’ve loved how it smelt and performed. So I was very excited to see this within October’s subscription box. First thing I noticed was this appears to be a generous size and the smell…oh my goodness! Smells just like the fruity chewing gum strips I used to have as a kid.

    Glow’s Fruit Deodorant Stick
    Rainbow Reef Whipped Soap

A beautifully freshly fragranced light and airy whipped soap which is a stunning shade of blue. Whipped soaps are great for those who want a bit of luxury when washing their body and something incredibly moisturising which these traditionally are.

    Glow’s Rainbow Reef Whipped Soap
    Lemon Magnesium Balm

This looks like any balm but this is quite special. Firstly, this is a travel size in a travel appropriate pot which can be hooked onto a bag or strap of some sorts. The balm itself looks balm like and scented in a sweet and zesty citrus lemon fragrance. But what this balm is designed to do is moisturise, help to heal the skin and help with general aches and pains thanks to it’s magnesium content.

    Glow’s Lemon Magnesium Balm
    Funky Monkey Shampoo

The fragrance of Funky Monkey Shampoo is fruit based and mouth watering. This comes in a decent size which should last awhile and the consistency intrigues me. It doesn’t appear very thick, so I can’t wait to see how this performs and see how concentrated it is.

    Re Glow Soap

Packaged in a small box and wrapped in Glow paper, this soap bar has a ginger scent to it with a homely, handmade look and feel with the addition of dried oranges decorating it. This looks very Autumn and Winter inspired, so perfect for this time of year. The fragrance alone makes me want to use this asap as it’s so good!

    Glow’s Re Glow Soap
    Extras

Included as extras was a hairbrush and soap dish holder (don’t ask what I originally thought this was!).

    Price

£25.00 which included postage and packaging.

    First thoughts?

A great selection of products to use on the body which are not only pampering but practical too. All fragrances are fabulous, great mix of textures and consistencies (which I love) and I can’t wait to delve into this box further!

  • A Different Type Of Wax Melt! Crafting In The Dark’s Levi 501’s Jelly Wax

Let’s talk wax melts. Wax melts come in different shapes, colours, sizes and designs. But on the whole they tend to be pieces of wax regardless of how they look. I was given a few months ago something that didn’t look like wax to me, but would still deliver fragrance in the same way. And this was Crafting In The Dark’s Levi 501’s Jelly Wax.

Crafting In The Dark’s Levi 501 Jelly Wax
    Why did I use this?

I forgot I had this! It was give to me by a friend and was added to my massive pile of wax melts and left my memory. But when remembered, I was in the mood for this type of scent and interested to see how a ‘jelly wax’ would perform.

    What is Jelly Wax?

Compared to traditional forms of wax, jelly wax is designed to melt slower so releases fragrance slowly into the air. Cleaning up wax melt warmers/burners is easier and quicker. Once cold, it can be peeled out ready to change wax melts if and when needed.

    How does this look?

It looks solid. A stunning shade of blue with the jelly wax looking almost molten. It reminds me of a beautiful looking wax pool that shimmers and has different shades of of the same colour giving it an almost jewel like effect. But it’s not. The texture is definitely jelly like, soft, shiny and totally smooth.

    Fragrance

Crafting I The Dark’s Levi 501’s Jelly Wax is clean, fresh, slightly marine like, hint of sweetness and cooling. This has a masculine feel to it but strangely enough still quite neutral. A very relaxing fragrance and could easily sit in the laundry family scent wise.

    In melt

I used half of the jelly wax to melt. It took more time to melt than a traditional wax melt. Rather than it creating a wax pool of sorts, it did produce a pattern which was very interesting! Almost scale like, reptilian, which I enjoyed watching. Despite it behaving differently, it threw out fragrance like a normal wax melt and made my hallway smell really good.

    Strength & Longevity

Strength for this is a medium. It wasn’t a subtle scent but not overpowering either. I had this melting for a good number of hours and the fragrance remained the same. But I did change it before the fragrance became less because I wanted a change. So longevity for how long I used this for was great.

    Clean up

The is was the satisfying bit! As soon as this completely cooled down it became a solid again and I could literally PEEL this away from my wax warmer dish! Easy, quick, quite therapeutic and fun.

    Recommended?

Crafting In The Dark’s Levi 501’s Jelly Wax is a great scented piece of wax. The fragrance itself will be loved by anyone who who likes clean fragrances. BUT the pool it created and the clean up makes me want to try out jelly wax more! For these two things alone (and of course the scent!) I would definitely recommend trying this out. It’s something different but still delivers in fragrance, so perfect for any wax melt fan!

If the idea of Crafting In The Dark’s Jelly Wax interests you, they are available on their website and come in various sizes (and fragrances) starting from 45g at £2.50 each.

  • July’s Round Up, What Products Did I Use?

July. You are nearly over. Was this a good month? It was a busy month with the school year coming to an end and the constant weather changes made this month challenging. But I did enjoy using a selection of products over this time period because each one was so different. So what did I use in the month of July?

    Products I used in July
Treacle Moon’s Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts

Oh I’ve missed Treacle Moon’s bath salts! I was so pleased to see them in Boots because I haven’t seen or used these in such a long time! A foaming, fragrant and affordable bath treat which is great to use regularly or give to someone as part of a gift. One day I hope they release their salts in a bigger size so I can enjoy them daily.

Treacle Moon’s Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts
Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter

This was included in Glow’s March Subscription Box. Body butters are such a luxurious body moisturiser, and Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter is no exception. It melts like a dream, protective and moisturising and the smell is incredible! One of my favourite body butters I’ve ever used.

Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter
Primark’s PS Love Opal Crush Eau de Toilette

A budget friendly fragrance, good presentation and smells really nice. But Primark’s PS Love Opal Crush Eau de Toilette could have been a little more stronger in scent with better longevity. Still a good purchase for those who don’t like strong scents or to give to a pre/teen.

Primark’s PS Love Opal Crush Eau de Toilette
I Heart Revolution’s Chocolate Lip Scrub

A fun product, smells and tastes amazing (don’t eat it!), but not my personal favourite because I’m not a lip scrub fan. I Heart Revolution’s Chocolate Lip Scrub is good for those who maybe are on the younger side and like cute packaging and scents. But I think there will be better lip scrubs out their on the market if used to help exfoliate and moisture the lips.

I Heart Revolution’s Chocolate Lip Scrub
    Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil

There’s not much you can buy for 69p, but Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil was a brilliant buy! Great size, naturally fragrant, light weight but very moisturising. 69p well spent!

    Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil
    Wild Deodorants

A new brand and a new product for me is Wild’s deodorants. Sustainable packaging, contains natural ingredients, smells great and kept me fresh for hours.

    Wild travel sized deodorants

So with another month drawing to a close I’m excited to see what products pop up in my stash in the month of August!
