  • The Best Body Butter? Treacle Moon’s Rouge Love Story Body Butter

There are so many different forms of body moisturisers on the market to fit everyone’s body care needs. Body lotions, creams, oils, soufflés, there’s literally a product for everyone in various forms, fragrances and textures. Now that we’re coming into a cooler season this maybe the perfect time to switch up products used. One item I’ve slipped into my body care routine is Treacle Moon’s Rough Love Story Body Butter. How good is it?

    Why I’m using this

I bought a few of Treacle Moon’s body butters for gifting because they are perfect as presents. I saved one for myself, and felt my body really needed a more luxurious and thicker textured body moisturiser. I’ve been using Epimax Oatmeal Cream, but wanted something less ordinary, richer and if I’m honest I wanted something with fragrance so I could smell nice.

    Packaging

200ml of Treacle Moon’s Rough Love Story Body Butter comes in a plastic screw topped tub. It’s very basic but the lid with the product name, the brand and other words in different fonts and sizes, really makes it pop! It’s practical packaging. Easy to open and close, but more importantly no product is wasted because every last bit of body butter can be scrapped out.

    Consistency & Texture

White in colour. In the tub this looks thick and rich, as it doesn’t have any movement to it. Scooping it out it still has that richness and slip to it which we all want, but has a softness to it.

    Fragrance

This is supposed to be a Baccarat Rouge fragrance dupe. But I honestly haven’t smelt the original so can’t confirm or deny. What I would say is how this is scented is stand alone gorgeous! This is sweet, floral, but not a pretty floral scent a slightly heavier, darker one. It’s feminine, its intoxicating and definitely smells like a perfume type fragrance.

    On the skin

I was generous with the amount of body butter I used but I couldn’t help it! I took a decent amount into my hands, which felt thick but not solid and incredibly soft and silky smooth. Rubbing it onto my skin was so easy. I actually gasped because it felt amazing on! Rich, not greasy, moisturising, but protective. The formula is absolute perfection and a joy to use. It wasn’t heavy on the skin, but it was comforting. It left my skin with a healthy sheen to it not a shine. And what topped off the experience was the fragrance hitting me as I used this. It’s not overwhelming, but it’s enough to appreciate and enjoy it and take it in.

The feeling of my skin being moisturised, never felt as if it had left. My skin felt supple and soft for hours, and the fragrance was still there too. Of course, it didn’t have the same strength to it hours later compared to when first put it on, but it was there!

Why has it taken me so long to actually use this?? Treacle Moon’s Rough Love Story Body Butter is amazing! Great size, stunning texture, fabulous fragrance and enjoyable to use and have on from start to finish. So yes! Recommended 110%!

Treacle Moon’s Rouge Love Story Body Butter is available for £5.00 for 200ml in a few stores including Boots, along with other products from the brand which I dare you not to buy!

  • Should You Buy Primark’s PS Cherry Crush Fragrance?

Body mists as a product, sometimes doesn’t deliver the strength and longevity you need from a fragrance. But that’s what you would expect from a product that can be low in price and with a lower concentration of actual fragrance in it. On a trip to Primark I decided NOT to buy a body mist, but an eau de parfum instead. I grabbed PS Cherry Crush Eau de Parfum 20ml for £2.50. But is this any good?

Primark’s PS Cherry Crush Eau de Parfum Fragrance
    Why did I buy it?

I was tempted by the body mists but hoped for something stronger. Although their full sized eau de parfums aren’t expensive (only £5.00), what if they weren’t good? That’s £5.00 potentially wasted. So it was very handy that two fragrances had smaller versions of the full sizes at a cost of only £2.50. I smelt the full size of Cherry Crush and loved it. 20ml is the perfect try me size and price.

    Packaging

20ml of fragrance comes in what I would describe as a test tube shaped bottle. Made from plastic and has a spray applicator. I mention this because some fragrances this size might be a roller dispenser, which I didn’t want. The bottle itself is tinted red, perfect for the scent.

    How it smells

This fragrance is sweet, floral and berry like. Is it cherry? This smells darker and richer than strawberry, raspberry or anything along those lines. But would I go as far as to say cherry? Not sure. BUT this combination of scents works very well with each other, and a hint of musk, makes this smell so good!

    Strength & longevity

I was quite generous with my first application. Who wouldn’t be when a fragrance smells great? It was very obvious, immediate hit of fragrance and then unfortunately went down hill from there. It started off as a medium and then the strength and scent disappeared so quickly. A few hours after application, I could barely smell this which was very disappointing.

    Recommended?

No. Great scent, handy size and packaging and super affordable. But I’ve bought and used body mists with better strength and longevity than this. It started well but didn’t end well.

  • Not For Me? Impulse’s Wide Awake Sapphire Fragrance Mist

I can’t help but zoom in on bargains, especially if they’re fragrance related. Months ago I popped into my local ASDA to find some of their fragrance mists were massively reduced, including Impulse’s Wide Awake Body Fragrance Mist. Usual rrp price? Around £4.50-5. ASDA price? 70p! So was this 70p body mist a good buy or disappointing?

Not For Me? Impulse’s Wide Awake Sapphire Fragrance Mist
    What’s the mist-ic collection?

Wide Awake Sapphire Fragrance Mist is part of a group of fragrances under the mist-ic collection. All of these are inspiration from precious stones in regards to the mood they evoke and how they smell.

    Packaging

This fragrance mist comes in a typical plastic spray topped bottle which is lidded. Clear, with the labelling giving a modern interpretation of a sapphire. I actually like how this is presented. It’s very clean, simple, modern and very different in look to other Impulse fragrances on the market.

    Fragrance

This is a very fresh scented fragrance. It’s more herbal based and earthy, which comes through first. But it’s not strong. Although there is supposed to be some citrus element in this from grapefruit and eucalyptus, I didn’t really get these coming through. They may have just added to the clean aspect of this mist, but the individual scents I didn’t detect. Overall, it’s very unusual, very unisex, and quite nice. But won’t appeal to everyone.

    Strength & longevity

I found this to be quite a light scent, which isn’t a bad thing especially during summer and you don’t want or need anything too heavy. But for me, I needed this to be a little more stronger and noticeable. I found longevity quite poor. Since the mist is quite light anyway, imagine it getting less and less in strength? Literally disappeared! This is one of those fragrances I would need to reapply regularly to get the hit of fragrance I want.

    Recommended?

Would I buy this again? Not this version no. Lovely scent, very different and great for summer but just not strong enough for me. Considering I’ve seen this being sold for £5.00 in some places on the high street, I would be pretty annoyed at how subtle this was for the price. But for 70p I’m not complaining, although for 70p I still wouldn’t buy it again. Just not strong enough for me, but ideal for those who want something subtle, earthy and relaxing.
