  • Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box Part 2

I can’t be the only person who has struggled to melt wax this month. It’s been so warm, everything has been an energy zapper and overall it’s been a busy Summer! But I wanted, no I NEEDED to experience and hopefully enjoy the fragrances coming from the wax melts in Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box I received a couple of weeks ago. So how did these pieces melt?

Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box
    Once Upon A Time

I knew at first sniff I would love this because it has a fruity/sweetie like scent to it which I enjoy. This is a mix of fruits which gives it a mouth wateringly sweet scent. Tropical (pineapple), some citrus notes in here because I get a little zest and freshness in this. And berries. Absolutely delicious!

    Once Upon A Time
    Glass Slipper

This reminds me of a scent I’ve smelt before in wax but can’t put my finger on the scent name. But yet again another fragrance that is sweetly scented. Fruit is definitely at the forefront but doesn’t have the zest element that Once Upon A Time does. In fact, it has a creaminess to it that I think (and love) of when I smell anything containing vanilla.

    Glass Slipper
    Tale As Old As Time

Floral scented but not heavily floral. I suspect more white florals rather than coloured because of it’s intensity. Quite light but like Glass Slipper there is vanilla in this.

    Tale As Old As Time
    Three Wishes

Oh this is something special! I know there’s berries in this (raspberry and strawberries) but when I first got a whiff of this I thought I smelt rose. Not horrible, old fashioned rose. A beautiful rose, with depth and a slight darkness/musk which was quite seductive. But no…it’s strawberries, raspberries, orange oil and vanilla musk! Whatever is in this it’s beautiful.

    Three Wishes
    Enchanto

This has an almost bubblegum style scent to this! Sweet, fruity, a little on the tropical side. Just when I thought Once Upon A Time gave me a sugar rush I realised that this gave me a bigger one!

    Enchanto
    In Melt

All of these melted quite quickly and evenly. Each one left behind a beautiful slightly shimmering wax pool which was a joy to see! Since each one was differently coloured each wax pool was just as unique as their fragrance.

    Strength & Longevity

Each one of these wax pieces were medium in strength. I didn’t use too much, in fact I may have underused with some of these. But they filled the rooms they melted in well, not overpowering almost natural in fact. Longevity is a hard one to answer as I didn’t melt all of these pieces as long as I normally would. But each one was melted for a good number of hours at a time and remained consistent in scent and strength.

    Recommended?

This is a great collection of wax melts. Beautifully made, so look wise spot on and in keeping with the theme. Good sizes which should provide hours and hours of fragrance per piece and the wax pools were simple in style but eye catching. And the fragrances? All of them have similarities so feel as if they are part of a collection, but each one different and independent to each other. Recommended? Of course! Loved this subscription box! I can’t wait to try out another month, with another theme and new fragrances.

Glow’s October Wax Melt Subscription Box

  • Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box

This may surprise some people but I haven’t bought much wax this year, not compared to previous years anyway. I have way too much wax unused so buying more at the moment seems pretty silly. BUT there are a few occasions when logic doesn’t and shouldn’t kick in. Prime example is when I purchased Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box. Including postage, this cost £22.00.

Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve had wax in various forms before from UK based wax vendor Glow and the quality has been amazing. I was lucky to be gifted their October Subscription Box last year so I knew what to expect (to a degree!) with this one. Great shapes, vibrant colours and beautiful fragrances. Pieces inspired by Disney and Princesses I loved the idea of it so I thought it was a must to have this collection!

    What’s a Sub Box?

As hinted already, a Sub Box is a selection of wax products that Glow releases every month. Each month is themed differently, and this is reflected in the appearance of the wax, colours and also their fragrances. There is zero commitment to purchase one of these every month. In Glow’s Facebook group they are highlighted with a release date. You put your name down and make a payment and that’s it! When release date comes it’s popped in the post for you to enjoy. Do you know what the best bit is? You know the theme but in regards to fragrances and appearance of wax, it’s a mystery!

    What was included?

5 different coloured and shaped wax pieces with a cute tea light holder.

Once Upon A Time – Yellow in colour with a subtle golden/orange shimmer to it. Flat and in the shape of the rose under the glass from the film Beauty and the Beast. A rose shape and the words ‘When you are a Beast there is always Beauty close by’ is visible on it.

    Once Upon A Time

Tale As Old As Time – Rectangular in shape, flat and a lovely shade of purple with silver glitter over the top. The words ‘You have to kiss a lot of frogs before finding your Prince’ is on it.

    Tale As Old As Time

Three Wishes – Again, another flat shaped piece of wax. This is shaped like an ornate mirror with the words ‘who is the fairest of them all’ in it and a shape of an apple underneath it. Red in colour and glistens with silver glitter.

    Three Wishes

Enchanto – The only 3D wax shape in this sub and this is a chunky one! Shaped like a little mouse but light blue in colour.

    Enchanto

Glass Slipper – Shaped as a Princess dress. Mint green in colour with a delicate dusting of silver glitter/pigment with the words ‘Once Upon A Dream’ in it.

    Glass Slipper

Tealight holder – Metal, gold in colour with the base being a large leaf shape. Coming out of it is two small and thin branches. One holding up a small bowl section which houses a battery operated tealight. The other has a little bird perched on the end alongside another leaf but a small one. Super cute and I can’t wait to find a place for this in my bedroom!

At first glance what do I think?

This is a well thought out collection. Each wax piece is a good size and should provide hours of fragrance, but they also look beautifully crafted too! It’s easy enough to have themed wax, make it any shape and colour and give it a name but it all has to be connected. And these wax pieces definitely are! And that’s what I love about this set. The tealight holder I think is a great addition and unexpected. When all the wax is used and gone to wax heaven, this will still remain which is a great gesture. I haven’t mentioned fragrance yet because these haven’t been melted and this will feature in another post. But cheeky sniffs of these are telling me these should be AMAZING!

I did want to mention one thing with this collection. The courier that delivered this months Sub boxes wasn’t exactly careful with them and some of my pieces were broken. Has this spoilt my appreciation of this collection? No. Has it pushed my photographic skills to the maximum? Yes! I feel sad that Angela at Glow spent so much time making these and for them to be damaged. But these things to happen.

    Recommended?

I’ve kept an eye on all the Sub boxes since I’ve been on Glow’s Facebook group and I would recommend them all even without trying them out! They’ve all looked brilliant, well crafted with cute themes and I’m in no doubt of the quality and care put into these. Certain themes will resonate with certain people so it boils down to personal taste. But this one definitely hits my wax sweet spot!

Watch out for another post focusing on how these melt and smell. I’m excited about melting these!

  • *New* Glow’s Candles in Fairy Laundry & Magical Dreams Fragrances

Don’t you just love a new product launch? I do! I’ve been enjoying many hours of home fragrancing thanks to wax melts and wax melt snap bars from a UK based wax vendor called Glow. Glow have recently released a new waxy product to the market in the form of candles. And I was lucky enough to have been given Fairy Laundry and Magical Dreams candles to try out. So what do I think?

Glow’s Fairy Laundry & Magical Dreams Candles
    Packaging

These are small, clear, glass jar candles, with a slightly rounded lid with a stopper style action. These lids are easy to pull off and put back on. Very secure but not hard to remove. Lots of candles on the market are presented like this. It works because it’s practical, they look nice and are good quality. Labeling ties in with the rest of the Glow wax products. Simple but effective.

    The Wax

Fairy Laundry is off white in colour. Magical Dreams is a creamy tangerine/orange colour. Both suit their scent names colour wise. The wax has no (obvious) glitter, variations in colour or anything like that, so a simple block colour. These candles are made from a blend of soy paraffin wax and provide up to 12 hours of burning time each if used correctly.

    Fragrance

Fairy Laundry – oh my. As someone who loves a laundry scent I was excited about this one! This is a fresh and clean. It’s what I would call laundry in it’s purest form. Clothes that have been freshly washed and smell like it. There is a powdery note to this with floral (think white florals) and it’s just gorgeous!

Magical Dreams – imagine a blend of fruits which has a slight effervescence to it, sweet, slightly sherbet like and mouth watering? This is it in a jar!

    When lit

These melted down slowly and evenly. While the wax went from a solid to a liquid, I was very surprised to see a slight shimmer to the wax. Very subtle and very pretty. I adore a bit of sparkle to my wax so this went down very well for me!

Fairy Laundry was placed in my downstairs toilet. I was worried the fragrance wouldn’t travel around this area well but it really did. It beautifully scented this space with a medium strength clean fragrance which is ideal for the room this was placed in.

Magical Dreams was placed in two areas. Firstly in the bathroom, and then in my bedroom. I got the fragrance of this in both rooms but felt it worked better in the bathroom as it’s smaller and more standard in shape.

For bigger rooms I think a bigger size of these candles would be better. But these have provided natural and welcoming scents that have been a pleasure to enjoy. So far each jar has been melting for a total of 4 hours so many more hours to go!

    LIT!
    Wax Vendor VS High Street

The imagination and variety that small wax vendors have compared to supermarkets, discount stores and other places on the high street is vast. I can’t think of any fragrance I’ve wanted that wasn’t available in wax form from a wax vendor. Expect to see the expected in your local discount stores or shops. But wax scents from wax vendors include the more unusual, bespoke and interesting. This is why the majority of my wax purchases are from small, independent businesses who focus their time and energy into making home fragrance products, like Glow.

    Recommended?

I’m more of a wax melt fan than a candle one. Candles tend to be used for decoration in my house. But using these made me realise why I started using candles years ago! Glow’s candles are beautifully scented, the scent throws well and the way the wax melts is hypnotic! So definitely recommended. Currently available in the following scents: Birthday Cake, Velvet Sugar, Lychee Martini, 1000 Wishes, Sundown, Sleepy, Fairy Dust, Fairy Laundry, Badedas and Magical Dreams. These jars cost £6.00, but if you visit the website here and use the code PROMO, they go down to £4.20. Happy shopping!

  • April’s Review Round Up. What Products Did I Use?

The fact we are in the second week of May is a reminder how fast 2022 is moving forward. Like all previous months, I’ve bought, tried, and sometimes enjoyed various products and shared my opinions about them. So I thought I would group together all the things I used and reviewed in the month of April.

What Wax Melts Did I Melt This Week with Fragrantasia?

I enjoyed melting wax melts from Fragrantasia. I’ve always found their wax to smell amazing and be of a high quality. Such a shame that their wax is no longer available as Amy, the lovely lady behind the wax, has said goodbye to the business.

First Impressions Of My First Ever Scentsy Order

In all honesty I’ve not had chance to try out the products I purchased from Scentsy. I’ve been too busy to use and review them, but this will be coming up soon! What I liked about this order was how affordable it was, and I managed to get a good mix of wax and body products to give me a good overview of what this brand can offer.

    Aldi’s Lacura Exfoliating Foot Scrub

Mentioning this product has reminded me I really do need to use this this week! As much as I love how Aldi bring out their own skincare products, I was overjoyed to see them focus on the feet. Their Exfoliating Foot Scrub falls into the practical and not expensive category when it comes to body care products. One that should be on your shopping list if your feet need some love and attention.

    Aldi’s Lacura Exfoliating Foot Scrub
    Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Foot Cream

A great pairing with the Exfoliating Foot Scrub, Aldi really have brought out a diverse and affordable range of their own branded products in their beauty section. Lacura’s Moisturising Foot Cream, although I wanted more from this, is still a good buy considering the price, size and it containing such a high percentage of Shea butter.

    Q+A’s Grapefruit Cleansing Balm

If you suffer from dry skin and find your cleansing products are stripping your skin of moisture, a cleansing balm is a must to try! Can they be expensive? Yes. But Q+A’s Grapefruit Cleansing Balm isn’t and is an easy, enjoyable product to use to clean your skin daily.

    Q+A’s Grapefruit Cleansing Balm
    Palmer’s Coconut Oil Balm

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Balm is one product I pretty much use everyday! And do you know what? The pot is still pretty much full despite this. I use this on my lips, feet, elbows, arms, I just love it!

What Wax Melts Did I Melt This Week From Glow?

Another week of melting wax melts from one particular vendor. This time my week focused on a vendor called Glow. And yet again I loved being able to melt different scents, all smelling fabulous and creating eye popping beautiful wax pools. Great wax and what a great smelling house I had for 7 days!

A Week Of Glow Wax Melts

So another busy month which ranged from using wax melts, skincare and body care. And I enjoyed every single moment of it! Let’s see what’s instore for the month of May!x
