  • I Treated Myself To Beauty Products That Cost Under £20.00

The months of November and December can be very expensive. As much as Christmas can be a joyful and fun filled holiday it also isn’t the cheapest! I love giving gifts to my nearest and dearest but I also like to treat myself too. But what did I manage to buy myself with £20.00?

    My affordable gifts to myself!
Escentuals Body Mist White Musk & Vanilla

A body mist or five is a must in my household. Not only do I use them daily as a cheap form of fragrance but my daughter uses them as well. So I always need a decent stash of mists and sprays. I bought Escentuals Body Mist in White Musk and Vanilla from Boots. They were on a special price promotion for £2.50 each instead of £3.99 which I thought was a good deal. This was a totally new range to me that I wanted to try and thought I would enjoy the fragrances.

    Ecotools Gua Sha Kit

I grabbed Ecotools Gua Sha Kit from Home Bargains because I’ve never seen a set like this before. Facial gua sha’s are available in many different stores and shops, but mainly are just for the face. This collection included not only a facial tool but one for the hair and body, which is why I bought it. Made from real jade, great packaging and only cost £3.49.

Glow’s Time To Glow Eye Serum

I’ve been on the look out for an affordable eye serum for awhile now and found this in Home Bargains for £2.99. It’s easy to grab an eye cream but not a serum so I thought I would give this a go. Designed to brighten the under eye area, it has a pipette applicator for hygienic and ease of use.

    Glow’s Eye Serum
Revolution Skincare Vibrating Rose Quartz Face Roller

If you love skincare it would be hard to be immune to buying the occasional facial tool. Although I’m not the most consistent in using them if I’m honest, they at least provide a pampering few moments when I do use them. Revolution Skincare Vibrating Rose Quartz Face Roller caught my eye on ASOS because of ease of use as it’s battery operated not manual. And of the course the price swayed me. It originally was £20.00 and went on sale for £5.36.

For under £20.00 I managed to buy myself products that were incredibly priced, perfect for my needs and didn’t send my credit card into meltdown! It just proves you can always treat yourself if needed, even on a budget!

  • My Favourite Skincare Products Of 2023

Every year I tell myself I won’t get sucked into buying more skincare and as usual I fail miserably! I love skincare, I enjoy trying new products and finding things that work well for my skin. But 2023 definitely was the year I relied more on budget friendly prices, price promotions and sales more than ever thanks to the cost of living. So what skincare products were my favourite in 2023?

My Favourite Skincare Products of 2023
    Face Facts Ceramide Gentle Cleanser

Face Facts Ceramide Gentle Cleanser was THAT product I would happily repurchase again and again if it stayed in stock in Home Bargains. Fragrance free, gentle but effective on the skin and easy to dispense thanks to it’s pump action packaging.

Selfless by Hyram’s Centella & Green Tea Gel Cleanser

Another cleanser I enjoyed using was Selfless by Hyram’s Centella & Green Tea Gel Cleanser. I thought it was so good I must have bought at least 4 of them! I used this, my kids used this. Overall it was a very good cleanser that didn’t strip the skin and it gave my skin the best clean base to start my mornings and end my evenings.

Simple’s Illuminating Under- Eye Hydrogel Mask

When your under eye area needs a quick fix, under eye patches are a great product to use. Simple’s Illuminating Under Eye Hydrogel Mask are one of those eye products I re-purchased in 2023, used on myself and actually gave as gifts too. Easy to use, cooling, comfortable, a small but instant improvement on the under eye area and very affordable.

    Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo

The best form of skincare bargain is that purchase which is cheap but works, and I found this when I bought Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo. I never used this brand before. It was never on my radar until I spotted this product reduced in my local Tesco store to 67p! Once sachet of a facial skincare mask and one sachet of a moisturiser was included. This duo really impressed me because after use my skin felt and looked so good! Brilliant buy!

    CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum

Sometimes if you have specific skincare concerns you have to pay a little more for a specialised product that targets that issue. CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum was purchased because I was, and still am, suffering with hyperpigmentation. Its much better than what it was but I would love to see this improve even more. This is one of the things I’ve been using to help and it definitely has changed the look of my skin for the better.

    CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum

So those are my favourite skincare products I used in 2023. Looking back on my choices and purchases, I didn’t go crazy buying lots of skincare with most of these being products I needed rather than wanted. Let’s hope 2024 is the same….

  • Christmas Gifts For Under £5.00

When it comes to gift giving, there will always be at least one person we want to give something small and inexpensive to. Maybe a work colleague, Secret Santa, neighbour or teacher. Whoever it is, we want to be thoughtful, nice but not over the top. So is there anything available right now that could be bought to tick off the gift buying list that would be suitable for these recipients?

Nivea Feel Radiant Natural Radiance Gift Set

Nivea Feel Radiant Natural Radiance Gift Set contains 2 sheet masks and one jade facial roller. I’m not a massive Nivea fan when it comes to skincare but it’s a popular everyday brand which many people use and enjoy. I love the fact this gift set contains a facial tool and really gives the gift of pampering. £4.49 from Home Bargains.

Nivea’s Feel Radiant Natural Radiance Gift Set
    Nivea Men’s Festive Skin Treats

This is one for the men, and contains a lip balm 4.8g, 3in1 shower gel 50ml and a creme for face and body 75ML. It’s a very simple and small set but a practical one. This is something someone could use everyday but this screams the perfect gift for a traveller because of the sizes. £2.75 from Home Bargains.

Nivea Men’s Festive Skin Treats Gift Set
Lacura’s Self Heating Chamomile Eye Mask

Aldi’s own range Lacura includes their Self Heating Chamomile Eye Masks. Boxed, contains 5 and these are designed to help with tiredness, eye strain and generally help with relaxation. £3.99.

Aldi’s Lacura Self Heating Chamomile Eye Mask

So, these were my latest finds instore for gifts costing under £5.00. These can either be small gifts, stocking fillers or placed together with other items to make one larger gift.

    Happy shopping!

  • Tired Eyes? Beauty Pro’s Eye Therapy Under Eye Mask

If you love a skincare sheet mask you will probably love under eye masks as well. They can give an instant pick me up on a targeted area of the face that we all want to appear fresh and rested. I love this type of product and recently purchased Beauty Pro’s Eye Therapy Under Eye Masks. Bought from Sainsburys on a special price promotion (when using their Nectar card) of £2.50 instead of £5.00. This contains 3 pairs of eye masks.

Beauty Pro’s Eye Therapy Under Eye Mask
    Why did I buy this?

I love eye patches/masks, and I will happily try as many as I can to find effective ones. Beauty Pro as a brand I’ve used a few times so I thought the quality of these would be good. The price was great value as I assumed this contained one pair of masks not three!

What are these supposed to do?

Beauty Pro’s Eye Therapy Under Eye Masks are designed to help the look of under eyes that are tired, puffy and wrinkled and improve their overall appearance.

    Packaging

These come in a typical sachet that most facial masks will come in. But because of how these are coloured (grey/blue) and how simple and clean this appears, it looks very professional, almost salon like to me. The sachet does contain three pairs of masks with each pair being housed in their own sachet.

    How to use

Apply to clean skin, place under the eyes and leave on for 20 minutes.

    In use

I took a pair of these under eye masks out of their little sachet and found them stuck to a piece of plastic. When peeled off, one side was very sticky and the other wasn’t and more fabric like (similar to a traditional sheet mask). They weren’t swimming in solution so I assumed the ingredients were sat on the surface of the sticky side. These were easy to apply and didn’t budge when applied! They stuck onto my skin like suckers and were quite rigid in feel. These eye patches were very cooling on the skin throughout wearing them which was a very nice sensation and comforting experience.

There was a fragrance to Beauty Pro’s Eye Therapy Under Eye Masks. They smelt fresh, a little earthy and almost floral. Pleasant and not heavy.

    After use

After taking these off I did think my under eyes looked a little fresher. Not massively but a little. I’m not sure whether it was because the suction held everything in place and flat, or it was the ingredients, but they didn’t look worse. They also felt hydrated but weren’t seeped in moisture or oily in look or feel so quite light weight in regards to hydration.

    Recommended?

Although I didn’t feel like I had an eye lift, Beauty Pro’s Eye Therapy Under Eye Masks did give me an instant improvement. They were a great alternative and something different from the usual eye masks available on the market. And I loved how secure they felt on my skin. For the cost of £2.50 for three pairs of individually wrapped under eye patches is a bargain, so yes, I would recommend these! In fact, I’ve taken a second trip to Sainsbury’s and bought a second sachet of them!
