  • Why I Love Glow’s Subscription Boxes

I love a subscription box! A subscription box is the perfect way to sample different products from vendors or brands as a one off or repeat purchase. The best part of it is you can get a subscription box containing anything these days. I’ve loved the wax melt and bath and body subscription boxes from small business Glow over the last few years. But which ones have been my favourites?

Glow’s A Trick Amongst The Treats October 2021 Wax Melt Subscription Box

I was kindly gifted this subscription box and this was a STUNNER! A beautifully crafted set of Halloween themed wax melts which not only looked amazing but smelt it too. Generous in size, themed perfectly fragrance wise and I loved the fact these went down a pretty Halloween route rather than the typical gruesome one they could easily have created.

Ruffles At The Palace August 2022 Wax Melt Subscription Box

Inspired by Disney and Princesses, Ruffles At The Palace August 2022 Wax Melt Subscription Box contained wax melts which screamed Disney characters and themes to me. From Once Upon A Time wax melt which was a stunning shade of yellow like the character’s Belle’s dress to Three Wishes which had hints of Snow White’s story in the appearance of it. A collection of sweetly fragranced wax melts which where ornate and easy on the eye.

Glow’s Bath & Body March 2023 Subscription Box

This particular subscription box was the one I was probably the most hungry to get my hands on! Why? It was the first proper glimpse of Glow’s new bath and body range which got all their customers very excited! From a hand wash, body butter, bath bomb…this box was full of pampering delights that made me very happy!

Glow’s Bath, Skin & Hair Care July 2023 Subscription Box

Another taste of non-wax melt products made and sold by Glow, but this time including a hair product. What I really liked about this selection was it contained so many different products it covered nearly the whole body. Hair mask, bath soak, foot spray, soap, perfume balm and body moisturiser. If this wasn’t a well thought out subscription box nothing else is!

Glow’s Crime Scene Investigators April 2023 Wax Subscription Box

Going back to what Glow was originally known for, their April 2023 subscription box was all about wax melts. This box was given to me by Glow and was imaginatively themed around a murder investigation. The theming was clever, each wax melt looked and smelt like they were a part of the story. As per usual, each wax melt was massive in size, attention to detail spot on and smelt amazing!

    Crime Scene Investigators Subscription Box

So if there was ever a subscription box you should sign up for Glow should be on your list! Brilliant themes, each product presented well and great sizes. And the price of each box incredibly affordable. THIS IS WHY I love Glow’s subscription boxes!

Currently available only through their Facebook group page but hopefully will be open to everyone from their website in the future.

So here’s a burning question, have I purchased any new monthly subscription boxes from Glow? Maybe……..

  • Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches

How skincare products are presented is important. The initial thought you have on how good or bad it will be can be based on how it’s packaged and how it looks. Sometimes products can look fun and not take themselves too seriously which sometimes puts me off because are they a gimmick or effective in use? Unsure as I was when I first saw Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches on their website months ago, I still bought them when they were sat on a shelf in Home Bargains priced at £1.99.

Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches
    Why did I buy this?

I love eye products. Anything to make this area of my face look more alive I’m going to purchase it. Revolution are a brand I’m familiar with. Although I wouldn’t buy these at full price this was a steal for 60 undereye patches (30 pairs in total). Even if these were more of a gimmick it was affordable and would at least be used by my daughter if not by me, so I couldn’t lose.

What are these designed to do?

Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches are designed to…hydrate the undereye area! On the website that’s the only thing it’s listed to do.

    Packaging

Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Under Eye Patches come in a screw topped plastic pot. Taking the lid off, there is a secondary covering which keeps the patches nice and safe and attached on the top are a small pair of tweezers to help take them out. The packaging is practical and quite eye catching thanks to the lid having a watermelon look to it.

How do these undereye patches look?

These are typical undereye patch shaped. Jelly like in look and feel and red in colour with black dots on them looking like the flesh of a seeded watermelon. It’s fun, it’s interesting to look at but doesn’t scream serious skincare to me and geared more towards a younger market.

    Fragrance

I expected these to have a fruity fragrance to them but there was no such scent. In fact, there was no clear fragrance to these at all.

    How did they perform?

In the pot these under eye patches were swimming in some form of pinky/red solution/serum. Not too sure whether I liked that or not (the colour of it) but at least they were hydrated. I found them a little fiddly to get out of the pot even with the tweezers. Placing these on the skin they needed a little adjusting but stayed where they were the majority of the time. They were reasonably comfortable to wear but I wished they were more cooling.

Hold these patches in the wrong way and they can tear. This happened a few times but they were still useable. Taking them off my skin, the serum they were soaked in did leave my undereyes moisturised but could have been a lot more to be honest. They didn’t feel massively more hydrated or better in look than before using these.

    My daughter

My 12 year loves these! She would use them everyday if she could. It’s a form of pampering for her which is easy, looks good and probably makes her feel grown up too. So no complaints from her.

    Recommended?

I can see the appeal of this product. In my opinion it’s for a younger market because of it’s packaging and how the actual patches look. Not to mention these aren’t the most hard working undereye patches I’ve ever used. So for those who want a bit of fun and pampering these will do that, but would suggest to buy these while on sale and not at full price (currently £15.00 on Revolution’s website). Personally I wouldn’t buy these again for myself. They needed to be more hydrating, more cooling on my undereye area and thicker or constructed better. I’ve used better undereye patches and found these were just ok and nothing special, but still a great price at £1.99 though.

  • September’s Round Up. What Products Did I Use?

September really was (and still is) an up and down month. Very busy with the new school year kicking in, crazy weather (please no more heatwaves!) and all festive occasions being thrown at us all at once! During all the madness as usual I have still managed to try out and enjoy products new to me, ranging from skin and body care to home fragrance. So what products did I use in September?

    Products I Used In September
    Lotus Flower Soap By LUSH

My first soap from LUSH, which was given to me by a friend, was Lotus Flower. This was such a lovely product to use in both the shower and the bath. It was fragrant, it cleaned the skin on my body so well without drying it out. The biggest surprise was how moisturised my skin felt AFTER use!

Glow’s Pick Your Own Wax Melts From August’s Subscription Box

Glow’s Pick Your Own Wax Melts from their August Subscription Box was gifted to me by the owner of Glow Angela. These wax melts were absolutely STUNNING! Not only in fragrance but also with how they looked. Massive sizes, each fragrance was perfectly chosen for the August subscription box theme with each slab (yes they were that big!) providing hours and hours of fragrance for the home.

Dove’s Nourishing Body Care Beauty Cream

An everyday brand I should really look at more thanks to Dove’s Nourishing Body Care Beauty Cream. A neutral and comforting fragranced body cream that was moisturising, nourishing yet left my skin matt after use.

Crafting In The Dark’s Levi 501’s Jelly Wax

As much as I love wax melts, my wax pieces only differ in fragrance, colour, size and shapes. Crafting In The Dark’s Levi 501’s Jelly Wax was totally different texture wise but still provided a good quality fragrance. And the clean up after I finished melting it was not only easy and quick but very satisfying too!

Garnier SkinActive’s Pure Charcoal Black Tissue Mask

I go through phases when it comes to using skincare tissue facemasks. But when my skin needs a little quick pick me up, I grab one. Garnier SkinActive’s Pure Charcoal Black Tissue Mask was fun and easy to use and provided the hydration my skin needed at the time.

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub By LUSH

My second LUSH product this month came in the form of Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub. Again, given to me by a friend (I have some really sweet friends!), this was my first body scrub from LUSH and probably won’t be my last! A fresh and slightly citrus fragrance which most people would love, vibrantly blue in colour and left my skin feeling soft and smooth.

    Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo

My favourite and cheapest skincare mask (and moisturizer) I’ve bought and used over the Summer. This made my skin look the great in a normal kind of way. My skin looked fresh, it looked smooth and it looked healthy. All for 67p!

    Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo

Which product was my favourite? That’s a tough one because they were all so different. But I would be happy to use ALL of these products again so none of them were a disappointment.

  • Skincare On A Budget, Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo For 67p!

I love a bargain! I don’t mind paying full price for a good quality skincare product but if I can grab it when discounted it’s a result! The supermarket Tesco has a decent range of skincare products. In the middle of clearance items I found a few weeks ago Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo for the budget pleasing price of 67p!

    Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo
    Why did I buy it?

I was thinking a head of a birthday of a friend and possibly putting away as small gifts for Christmas (yes I said Christmas!). I liked the idea of this not just being a mask but a moisturizer too. Although I haven’t used this brand myself, and never been tempted, I picked one up for myself because I would be silly not to for 67p!

    What does this mask do?

Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo comes in two parts. One is a mask and the other is a moisturiser. Both are designed to prep the skin, prime the skin ready for the application of make-up and then follow up with hydration. The finishing look to the skin should be a healthy looking blank canvas ready for the evening ahead.

    How to use

On clean, dry, skin apply the Vitamin C mask. Pat it in and leave on for 20 minutes then rinse off. Follow on with the collagen moisturizer.

    The Vitamin C mask

I didn’t expect the texture and general appearance I saw when I ripped open the first part of this duo’s sachet! The mask was gel in look and texture, with a green tint to it reminding me of aloe vera gel (just not as dark). Floral in fragrance, not too strong and overall quite pleasant.

Placing this on the skin literally was like applying a gel but less of the cooling effect. Following the instructions of patting this into my skin, this made some areas of this appear cream like. The instructions said pat in till it ‘melted’ into the skin. There was no melting. But once I stopped and left it, it went from feeling slightly sticky to more tacky, as if it had almost dried out. Rinsing off was very easy. No residue was left and my skin felt and looked fresh and clean.

    The Collagen Moisturizer

It came out of the sachet looking quite thick, glossy and white but it was more fluid when I rubbed it between my fingertips. On the face it took a little time to rub in, but when it did despite it not being thick, my skin felt quite nourished. There was a light fragrance in this but not particularly noticeable what the fragrance was of. My skin afterwards still had that freshness to it. No shine, quite matt but looked actually really good in normal way. This is how I want my face to look all the time!

    Going out?

There was no getting ready to go out after using Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo. I was getting ready for bed! So how my skin would have been after using this and applying make-up I couldn’t tell you (I don’t wear make-up anyway!). But what I would say is my skin looked ready for anything and I can imagine make-up would go on like a dream as it was in great condition.

This mask and moisturizer duo surpassed my expectations! I’ve never used this brand before but happy to use products from them again. Easy to use, provides the face with a pampering treatment and then a functional face cream leaving the skin looking better than before application. If you see this BUY IT! Totally recommended and I’m kicking myself I didn’t buy more at 67p each!
