  • Affordable Stocking Fillers For Christmas Under £4.00

Whether the word ‘Christmas’ brings you out in a sweat or not, it’s coming. Most of us will now be thinking about what to buy our nearest and dearest whereas some have already started purchasing gifts. But what stocking fillers are on the high street that won’t put our credit card into meltdown? I’ve been keeping my eyes open for affordable items that can be purchased if you are looking for pampering products for friends, colleagues, family members and even teens. So what did I find?

Garnier Hydra Bomb Eye Tissue Mask

I’ve used these and they are great! Easy to use, moisturising, cooling and will give the under eye area a temporary pick me up. Ideal for those who love under eye patches/masks, enjoy using skincare and those who are simply tired and need a pampering! A winner as well for pre-teens/teenagers. Only 99p at Home Bargains.

Garnier SkinActive’s Hydra Bomb Eye Tissue Mask
W7 Foot Mask, Exfoliating Foot Mask Treatment & Hand Mask Treatment

These are perfect products for those who maybe use their hands a lot or on their feet for long durations. Or just for those people who like to look after their hands and feet! These are nice and flat so easy to post reasonably cheaply if the recipient isn’t local. Maybe a nice treat to buy all three of these, wrap or place in a card. I found these in Tesco for £2.00 each.

    W7’s Foot & Hand Masks
M&S’s Hand Cream & Hand Balm

Who would have thought M&S would be a good place to grab hand care products that weren’t only effective, packaged nicely AND not expensive? I find these items can get lost in my local store but if you spot them definitely worth grabbing. I’ve personally used their Shea Butter & Honey Hand Balm and thought it was a lovely product. Both hand cream and hand balm are £2.00 each.

M&S’s Hand Cream and Hand Balm
M&S Body Scrub & Body Butter

These are two products I really want to try. The body butter is the same fragrance as the hand cream which together would make a good small gift. But there is something about how the Coconut Body Scrub is packaged (glass jar) that screams luxury to me, but without the price tag. Both cost £3.50 each with the scrub weighing 100g and the body butter 200g.

Treacle Moon’s Warm Winterberry Nights Shower and Bath Gel

I’ve used many Treacle Moon products in the past and they have all been great quality. Warm Winterberry is a new fragrance which I haven’t used but gave it a sniff and the scent is TO DIE FOR! If you love your bath and shower products to be fruity and mouth watering, this is for you! This was in my local Tesco store for £1.95 for 500ml.

Treacle Moon’s Warm Winterberry Nights Shower & Bath Gel

So these are just a few gift ideas that many people can grab from stores local to them. A good time saver if you’re already in a store doing a normal shop anyway (which as a busy mum I love!). All of these are affordable, pampering and easy to use. Great as stocking fillers, part of a gift basket, Christmas Eve box and dare I start mentioning teacher gifts…. Christmas gift giving doesn’t need to be expensive or stressful, so let’s make some purchases simple and cheap!

  • October’s Round Up, Which Products Did I Use?

Like the rest of 2023, October just seems to have come and nearly gone in the blink of an eye. Everyone seems to be gearing up towards the Winter season now, and dare I write the word Christmas? There’s lots of products I want to get my hands on in the next few months, especially now the seasons have changed. But what did I use in October?

Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches

These were bought at a great price (£1.99 from Home Bargains), lots of under eye patches included so generous amounts of applications and a fun and quirky look to them. But I didn’t find Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches the best under eye patches I’ve ever used. Probably better suited for my 12 year old daughter to use. I doubt I would buy these again for myself.

Autumn Scented Wax Melts From The High Street

I broke out of my usual shopping habits. Instead of buying wax melts from a wax vendor, I picked up three from stores on the high street. All in my opinion ideal scents for Autumn, each one were affordable, easy to get hold of and smelt really good.

Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Scented Wax Melts

One of the three Autumn inspired wax melts I purchased from the high street was Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Scented Wax Melts bought from Home Bargains. An affordable and fragrant warming gingerbread fragranced wax which is perfect to melt this time of year.

    Scrubee Body Butter By LUSH

Scrubee Body Butter By LUSH really confused me. Is it a body butter? Does it exfoliate? Strangely enough it does both while you’re in the shower or bath, which is even more confusing! Great product, smells AMAZING but might be a step too far for those who like their products to be more traditional and simple to use. Although, I’ve found this is brilliant to use on the feet if you want them smoother and softer!

Glow’s Cosy Toes & Winter Glows October Subscription Box

I’m still struggling to get through Glow’s Cosy Toes & Winter Glows October Subscription Box because there’s so much product in this collection! One thing both myself and my daughter have been using and enjoying daily is the body mist. Other products included were a shampoo, soap, whipped soap, magnesium balm and natural deodorant. How much of this will be left before my daughter steals more items I have no idea!

    Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Sheet Mask

I’m a great believer that skincare doesn’t need to be expensive. There will be skincare available on the market that will suit all budgets. Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Sheet Mask is inexpensive, easy to use and incredibly pampering and hydrating and regularly on a price promotion.

    CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum

A hard working product that I’ve been using for over a month now, CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum tackles uneven skin in regards to texture and colouring. I’m using it to deal with issues with hyperpigmentation, and so far so good…I can see results!

    CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum

So this is my round up of products I’ve used in the month of October. As usual, there’s been a mix of everything from home fragrance to body butter scrubs and skincare. No favourites in this mix because they’re so varied. But one thing that stands out is how Scrubee Body Butter smells. It’s absolutely to do die for!

  • Improving The Look Of My Skin With CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum

Good skin is important to most of us. We all can deal with the occasional spot. Or changes on the skin which are annoying but nothing major. But what happens when your ‘normal’ skin becomes uneven and marked? Well that’s been MY face for the last few months and something I’m working on. I hoped the purchase of CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum would help. I bought this on sale from ASOS for under £15.00 but normally retails up to £22.00 for 30ml.

    CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve never had an issue when it comes to hyperpigmentation (darkening, marks on the skin) on my face. My skin has always been even in skin tone and any marks I had would disappear. But the last few years a spot would pop up and leave a mark, even without it being squeezed. These marks would fade but the amount of time it took was getting longer and longer with some not disappearing at all. I saw a post on this product on Instagram and thought this could be perfect because of what it’s designed to do so I bought it.

What is this supposed to do?

CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum is designed to help lessen the look of marks which includes post acne scarring and hyperpigmentation. Skin should have a more even skin tone and smoother appearance thanks to ingredients such as retinol, liquorice root extract, niacinamide & 3 essential ceramides.

    How to use

CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum should be applied to clean skin at night time. Start off using once a week and build up the amount of times used depending on how skin is tolerating it. A high protection sun cream or lotion needs to be applied in the morning.

    Consistency, Texture & Fragrance

Cream in colour, light weight, fluid but not too loose in consistency. Very typical in look to other serums. No obvious fragrance to this.

    My skin before using this

Two areas of my cheeks were very spotty, raised and darks marks were on these areas, left behind from previous spots. At one point I applied foundation for a few days to make myself feel and look better as my skin began to upset me. This says a lot from someone who never wears make-up.

Before I mention how my skin behaved AFTER use it’s important to note of any other factors. I didn’t slot in any other significant skincare products into my daily routine. The odd sheet mask here, an exfoliator there was used during the weeks of using this product. But what I used at night time (not every night) was pure shea butter. Some people will be horrified some not, but I find this a brilliant product in it’s raw state. I use it because I’ve found it helps calm my skin down if it suffers bouts of break outs and bumpy textured skin. Hyperpigmentation can be caused after the skin becomes inflamed and the shea butter has helped calm mine down during the inflamed stage.

    On the skin

This is a very simple serum to apply. I use one pump and gently rub it into my skin, avoiding my eye area and my neck (my neck doesn’t need this product). It feels very smooth, not sticky, and leaves the skin feeling hydrated. Not enough for it to be the only product on my face at night time, so a cream follows afterwards. It doesn’t leave my skin greasy or shiny in look, just normal but hydrated.

The instructions weren’t clear on the packaging so I went online. I started to use this once a week, then increased the amount of evenings I used this. My skin has never had an issue with this and tolerated it very well.

    A few weeks later

Slowly but surely the areas of concern have become less spotty, less raised and smoother in look. The actual hyperpigmentation is less dark, less noticeable and getting smaller. I know my own skin. And I know how much these areas have improved so much that although I’m not totally happy with these areas, I hate them a lot less than a month ago.

    Recommended?

For me, CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum is working. I’m not the most patient person, especially where results with skincare is concerned. But if say this has improved the look of my skin within a month and I’ve noticed it, it’s doing something right! It looks better. This isn’t a cheap product, but if you need a specific result you will need to pay that little bit extra, but for me it’s been worth worth it.

CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum is available from many places on the high street, such as Boots, Superdrug, and Amazon.

  • £1.00 Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Sheet Mask

Who loves a skincare sheet mask? I do! There are a few things that are important when using a sheet mask for me. It needs to be moisturising, comfortable to wear, make my skin look and feel fresher and has to be affordable. A mask that definitely ticked the affordable box was Boot’s Ingredients Hyaluronic Acid Sheet Mask. Normally priced at £1.00, when bought was on offer at 75p.

Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Acid Sheet Mask
    Why did I buy this?

I picked up a few of these because sheet masks are perfect for gift giving, and of course, one for myself. I’ve used some products from the Boots Ingredients range before. It’s affordable, good quality and regularly on offer, so overall a good and cheap purchase.

What is this supposed to do?

Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Acid Sheet Mask is designed to keep the skin balanced, trap in moisture into the skin keeping it feeling and looking hydrated.

    How to use

Like most skincare sheet masks, apply onto clean skin and leave on for 15 minutes. Pat into skin any excess serum.

    Look & Fragrance

Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Sheet Mask looks like most sheet masks. It comes with some form of backing material on it that you need to take off. It’s almost tissue paper like in texture but not too thin, with the usual holes for the areas of the face that need it. This isn’t fragrance free as it has a light floral scent to it.

    In use

This masked was soaked in serum, literally dripping! When I placed this on my face it became transparent and clear as it sat on top of it. Incredibly cooling, very comfortable on the skin and enjoyable to wear. I could tell at some point it needed to come off as it’s translucency was becoming more opaque. After taking it off, my skin glistened! The serum was all over my face and was very moisturised in look and feel. I patted the solution into the skin and my skin looked hydrated but not matt.

I didn’t need to apply anything else on top of this (I used this before bed) because my skin felt moisturised enough.

The morning after the night before

My skin still felt moisturised in the same way as if I had applied a cream at night time. It looked reasonably fresh and I was just so glad to see my skin hadn’t dried out in look or feel.

    Recommended?

Easy to use, comfortable to wear, pampering, moisturising and only £1.00. So yes, definitely recommended! It’s a good quality skincare sheet mask which delivers what it says it will do and is very affordable. The Boots Ingredients range is regularly on offer and at time of writing this is on a 3 for 2 (cheapest product free) which means even more budget friendly skincare!
