  • La Roche-Posay In Home Bargains?

Home Bargains is one of those stores you never know what they will have in stock. From cleaning to home decor, food to stationary, they stock such a variety of different products and brands, no wonder you don’t go in and buy just one thing! One area that I’m always excited about is their aisle that has skincare products on it. Yes, they have their own products. And familiar brands you grab from many high street stores. But they also can have some impressive brands on the shelves too from time to time, such as La Roche-Posay. Social media has been going a little made about the fact Home Bargains has been stocking La Roche-Posay’s Double Repair Face Moisturiser. But why?

La Roche-Posay’s Double Repair Face Moisturiser
    What is La Roche-Posay?

La Roche-Posay are a skin and body care brand that delivers a range of products for all different skin concerns. From sensitive to oily, dry to ageing. Moisturisers to sun cream. Their formulations are loved and recognised by customers but also the skincare community. La Roche-Posay products are available on the high street, but these aren’t budget products. Cleansers can cost around £25.00, facial sun creams the same and serums between £40.00 and £50.00!

What product is available in Home Bargains?

Currently it’s just the one, and it’s La Roche-Posay’s Double Repair Face Moisturiser. This can suit all skin types, which includes sensitive. La Roche-Posay’s Double Repair Face Moisturiser is a light weight but highly moisturising facial moisturiser. Containing glycerin, ceramides and niacinamide, this is a gentle but effective product that provides protection and hydration to the skin.

    Price?

The rrp of this product starts at £20.00. Home Bargains price? Only £4.99!

    Is this worth buying?

If you already use this product then of course, buy them all! Or you’re interested in the brand and want to try it in the most affordable way, this is ideal, as it’s full size (40ml). In all honesty, to buy a decent quality facial moisturiser can cost this same price point. And with it being suitable for different skin types it’s worth a go. I probably wouldn’t buy this for pre-teens or younger teens because most of the time they don’t need anything fancy. But for the majority of us, could be a good buy. One word of warning though. If this is a product you find you love and want to repeat purchase, be prepared to spend 3 or 4 times the cost. At some point you will run out and so will Home Bargains. Great buy at a great price.

  • Products I Bought & Used In The Month of August

Its officially September! For me? I’m happy about this. Kids go back to school, routines can come back into play and we drift into my favourite time of the year…autumn! But as a month, how was August in regards to budget friendly products I bought and used?

Impulse’s Wide Awake Sapphire Fragrance Mist

A body mist I managed to grab at an amazing low price, but I found Impulse’s Wide Awake Sapphire Fragrance Mist to be great mist scent wise but poor strength and longevity. Not a product I would buy again. It didn’t last long and was too subtle. But I would happily try other scents in this range in the future.

Frozen Lemonade Wax Melt From Wickford & Co

An ideal wax melt to use during summer, Frozen Lemonade Wax Melt From Wickford & Co was really enjoyable to use. Fruity, energising and not the usual tropical scents that is pushed out for this time of year. A typical low priced but good quality product available in Home Bargains.

    L’Oréal’s Hyaluron Expert Eye Serum

Anyone that has issues with their under eye area and wants to address it, will try many different eye products to deal with the problem. My current eye product is L’Oréal’s Hyaluron Expert Eye Serum which is very different from products I’ve used before. The serum applicator acts as a massage tool! It’s a pricey product (of course, I didn’t pay the rrp!), but a product I enjoy using morning and night and I THINK it’s helping slightly!

    Superdrug’s Coconut Oil Clarifying Shampoo

First time I’ve used Superdrug’s Coconut Oil Clarifying Shampoo and it will be the last. Of course, I will use the bottle up, not wasting it! I didn’t find this shampoo was right for my hair. Cleaned scalp? Yes. Cleaned hair? Yes. Enjoyed using it? No.

    ASDA’s Wellness Awaken Wax Melt

Not only do I love a reduced priced product, I love it when it turns out to be really good! ASDA’s Wellness Awaken Wax Melt is a beautifully fragranced wax melt which is a great combination of eucalyptus, tonka bean and vanilla. Great scent, nicely packaged but longevity needs a little improvement.

    Awaken Wax Melt

All of the above products I bought (at different times and months) and used in August, and all were bought at very affordable prices. Some products I liked, some I didn’t. But I know what I would repeat purchase and avoid in September!

  • Why I Like L’Oréal’s Hyaluron Expert Eye Serum

Have you ever saw a product and thought, should I buy a few but opted for one to be on the safe side? Then used the product and thought I wish I bought more? I’ve done it on many occasions. The flip side is giving into that urge and finding you have 3 to 4 bottles of a product which you hate using. But one product I don’t hate using, and actually like using, is L’Oréal Paris 2.5% Hyaluronic Acid Eye Serum. Why?

    L’Oréal’s Hyaluron Expert Eye Serum
What is this & what is it supposed to do?

This eye serum is designed to help the appearance of dark circles, wrinkles, puffy eyes, while moisturising and brightening the look of the eye area. Not only is this down to the serum itself (containing caffeine, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, glycerin) but also the applicator you use that this comes with.

    Cost?

This isn’t cheap usually! I was lucky enough to grab this from Home Bargains when it was only £1.99. But this retails from anything from £20.00 plus.

    Packaging

20ml of L’Oréal Hyaluron Expert Eye Serum comes in a bottle not that much different in look to a bottle of nail polish. Clear, slightly tinted in purple with the serum applicator being attached to the lid. Unscrew lid, take out the applicator which consists of three small metal balls which is a triple roller. This gently moved over the under eye area provides a massaging action..

This comes boxed. Typical L’Oréal in look and style. Eye catching, informative in regards to the product and doesn’t look cheap!

    In use

Applied onto clean skin, this can be used morning and evening. The box itself tells you how to use the applicator but I just gently sweep it a few times under each eye and dab excess serum in those areas. Quite a bit of serum is held onto the applicator, so there’s always excess. The mix between the serum and applicator provides a cooling sensation, especially as I have this in the fridge. You can feel the the massage action clearly with this, and the serum remains there while doing it, which is important. The serum, if applied too much, can be on the sticky side. But overall provides a very moisturising and protective shield under the eyes without making them look shiny.

My eyes after using this do look slightly rested. But is this the applicator, serum or both? No idea. But what I will say is the serum keeps them well moisturised. They look and feel it. And the applicator feels great on the skin and is a simple and quick way of pampering an area on my face I have issues with.

    Recommended?

I like this product, a lot! I enjoy using it. It’s quick, easy but strangely rewarding. It hasn’t changed my undereye area but it has taken a slight edge off looking half dead. But for a product that can be as pricey as £30.00? I couldn’t afford it. Under £10.00? From anywhere, possibly. Under £5.00? Buy it! Under £2.00? Grab multiples! Nice product, I would buy if much cheaper than the usual rrp, but not at full price.

  • July Recap! Products I Used & Found On The High Street

Another incredibly busy month has come and gone in the blink of an eye! It’s full on summer now. Schools in the UK are closed, people are venturing off on their holidays and we’ve experienced every type of weather known to man. I also found lots of great affordable skin and body products on the high street, and made a few purchases too. So what products did I use in July and what products did I find that were worth a mention?

Face Facts Skincare For Mature Skin

Skincare for older skin tends to come with a heavier price tag compared to other products for different age groups. But Face Facts, already a budget friendly brand, caters for the older and more mature skin type too but cheaply. Cleansing balm, eye serum, facial serum night cream and neck masks all can be found in supermarket Tesco for under £5.00 each.

Versace’s Eros Energy Eau de Parfum

This is the most expensive fragrance I’ve bought in years! But your son only turns 16 once so why not? Versace’s Eros Energy Eau de Parfum might not be cheap, but it’s a beautiful and unusual men’s fragrance perfect for summer wearing. My son likes it, I got it at a good price, so very happy with this purchase.

    29p Gel Mask

How much does a skincare face mask cost these days? £2.00? £3.00? I picked up Que Bella’s 1% Hyaluronic Acid Gel Mask from Home Bargains for only 29p! It’s not the best skincare mask I’ve ever used if I’m honest, but definitely not the worst. But for only 29p, fragrance free and enough for 2 applications? Not a bad buy at all!

Want to buy a teenage girl a great fragrance that not only smells nice but packaged cutely? This is why I bought my teen for her birthday Lady Millions EDT Fragrance from Lotions & Potions . For only £10.00 this delivered a grown up fragrance in an adorable, but age appropriate packaging.
