  • Fragrances For A Teenage Boy

Buying personal care products for teenagers can be tricky, especially for boys. Rather than splash out on different lotions, potions, bath or body products, I find the best products to go for are fragrances. My son recently celebrated his 15th birthday, so amongst his birthday presents I gave him a selection of fragrances to use. So what did I buy him?

    Bespoke London Body Sprays

I bought my son for a previous birthday Bespoke London’s Wild Herbs & Tonka Bean EDP. He liked it. It was a really good quality and nicely scented fragrance product and reasonably priced. When I saw a selection of the brand’s body sprays in Home Bargains for only 99p (in Superdrug they retail at £3.99 each), I bought 4 different scents. Each one very different, all smelt great, easy on the eye packaging wise and did I mention only 99p??

    Lynx Blue Lavender Body Spray

Teenage boys seems to have a strange love of Lynx body products, including my son. While out shopping, he used a tester of their new Blue Lavender Body Spray and commented how he liked it. When I got the chance I purchased it without him when it was on offer for £3.50 in the supermarket Tesco.

Paco Rabanne 1 Million Deodorant Natural Spray

My son is at the age where he’s interested in designer fragrances but I’m not interested in paying designer prices. Paco Rabanne’s 1 Million Deodorant Natural Spray has that expensive designer scent to it but is cheaper than the perfume version. I managed to get this for around £18.00 from Superdrug when they had a special promotion on fragrances.

    Versace Men’s Trio Miniature Set

If your son/nephew/grandson has a thing for Versace fragrances but you don’t want to pay silly money for one bottle, Versace Men’s Trio Miniature Set is a great alternative. I bought this because my son was quite taken with two of these fragrances while in a department store. Having three meant he had a choice of different ones and the size made it easy to carry around. These are small bottles (5ml each), but are a great introduction to the brand for £20.00. Did I pay £20.00? No, of course I didn’t pay full price! I bought this set when it was sub £18.00 thanks to a fragrance promotion.

So these are the fragrances I bought my son for his 15th birthday. A good mix of very cheap but good quality fragrances and designer ones, which should keep him happy and smelling nice for a long, long time. AND I didn’t bankrupt myself buying them. I shopped around, took advantage of promotions and low priced items.

  • Escentuals White Musk Body Mist

Who doesn’t like a body mist? Men, women, girls and boys, body mists are the affordable way to a get a fragrance hit. That’s why I love using them because it gives me a wide choice of fragrances to wear everyday but doesn’t cost me too much money. I’m always on the look out for new body mists or sprays, and I found last year Escentuals White Musk Body Mist in Boots for £2.50.

    Escentuals White Musk Body Mist
    Why did I buy this?

I was looking for small gift ideas for friends for Christmas and body mists are always a great product to buy for them. I stumbled on this range because it was on a special offer (£2.50 instead of £4.00), the scents were appealing and I’ve never used them before so I wanted to see what they were like.

    Packaging

Escentuals White Musk Body Mist comes in a blue tinted, clear, plastic spray bottle. This is very plain in look so would appeal to most people of most ages.

    Fragrance

This has a white floral scent to it. Its fresh, it’s quite sweet in smell and very youthful. I really like the fragrance because it’s quite feminine and not old fashioned.

    Strength & Longevity

Despite being very generous with the application of Escentuals Body Mist on my clothes, I thought the initial scent was there but should have been much stronger. The amount I applied should have knocked me out but it barely made a dent to my nose, so I would say strength wise this was low. I use this just before I leave in the morning for work and I barely notice it during the day, so longevity for me isn’t great.

    Something else to add?

After using this I found it leaked. I don’t know whether it’s just this one spray bottle this is happening to or all, but after spraying this it’s on my hands and even on the floor.

Escentuals White Musk & Vanilla Body Mist
    Recommended?

Although I like the fragrance of this body mist and the packaging, the strength and longevity is a little disappointing to me. I never expect body mists to be everlasting and massively punchy in how they smell, but I’ve had stronger with better longevity. Is it possibly because of the actual fragrance this is weak? Would a different version be better? No idea. I have the vanilla version so will test this out at some point. But I won’t be buying this again. Strong fragrances aren’t for everyone but I still think, even for those people who want softness, they could get a better body mist from a different brand.

  • Ted Baker London’s Raspberry & Orange Blossom Body Spray

I love a fragrance! Body mist, spray, eau de toilette or eau de parfum. Whatever form it comes in I enjoy using them. A good fragrance is also a good gift idea and that’s why they are such popular presents all year round but especially for Christmas. For my birthday, I received from a friend Ted Baker London’s Raspberry & Orange Blossom Body Spray 50ml. So what is it like?

Ted Baker London’s Raspberry & Orange Blossom Body Spray
    Packaging

The fragrance itself comes in a red, tinted spray bottle. It has faceted sides so gives it an interesting shape, transparent with a gold logo and text on the front. This comes in a dimpled burgundy coloured boxed. Overall the look of this is quite appealing.

    Fragrance

This is a slightly fruity fragrance mixed in with white florals, but more floral based than fruit. There’s a slight powdery element to this so it’s quite a clean scent. Personally, I think this isn’t the most modern of fragrances but it is nice.

    Strength & Longevity

Ted Baker London’s Raspberry & Orange Blossom Body Spray is medium in strength. When it’s first applied it’s very noticeable but does ease off as time goes on. Although it doesn’t totally disappear and I can still smell it on myself, the strength does get considerably weaker. So I would say the longevity is fair but not amazing on me ( applied on clothes not on skin).

    Recommended?

I quite like how this smells. It’s not my favourite body spray of all time but it’s very different to what I’ve ever used before. This has a more old fashioned feel and smell to it so this might be suitable for an older person. But someone who likes their fragrances in a mix of floral and fruit I think they would appreciate it as well. Would I buy this for myself? Probably not. Would I buy this for a more traditional person or less adventurous fragrance lover? Yes.

Ted Baker London’s Raspberry & Orange Blossom Body Spray can be purchased from various places such as Boots, who currently have this fragrance on a special promotion. It’s on a 3 for 2 on Ted Baker products and comes in two different sizes. 50ml is £4.00 and the 150ml normally is £8.00 but down to £5.00.

  • April Round Up, What Products Did I Use?

2023 really isn’t messing about is it? It wasn’t that long ago we were all wishing each other Happy New Year and now it’s May! How did THAT happen? I seem to say this every month but honestly time is flying by so quickly. And in that time I’ve been using more bath, body, fragrance and skincare products and reviewed each and every one of them. So what did I enjoy using (or maybe not) in the month of April?

Products I used in the month of April
Tu Est Belle Body Spray By Designer Fragrances

There’s nothing nicer than getting hold of a beautifully scented fragrance product that not only smells expensive and designer but is super cheap too! Tu Est Belle Body Spray by Designer Fragrances is inspired by a well known perfume and only costs 99p! This is a body spray this does the job of giving a hit of fragrance, can be topped up if and when needed and smells gorgeous.

Dirty Works Coconut Foaming Sugar Scrub

Dirty Works Coconut Foaming Sugar Scrub is a body scrub that can be found on the high street and online at an affordable price. Easy to use, decent fragrance but I felt this was geared towards a younger market. Or for those who wanted a fun product rather than a hard working one. It was ‘ok’ but not a scrub I would gravitate towards or purchase myself.

    Glow’s Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume

Gifted to me from Angela at Glow, Glow’s Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume is a sophisticated fragrance product perfect for those who want to apply fragrance on the wrists and neck. This is perfect if you want a designer fragrance like scent without the price tag because this costs under £5.00!

    Zoflora’s Midnight Blooms Scent Crystals

Highly fragranced cleaning products seems to be growing even more in popularity. So it’s no wonder many of these brands are branching out into official home fragrance products. Zoflora have released quiet a few items to fragrance the home, including Midnight Blooms Scent Crystals. Great alternative to wax melts, zero clean up and these smelt so good. But I can’t help but wish these were just as strong as the cleaning products version.

    Neom’s Overnight Facial Cream

This was given to me by a friend and my skin thanks her for it! Neom’s Overnight Facial Cream is a lovely, rich (but not heavy) night cream which leaves the skin looking and feeling rested the following morning. Pricey but very good quality!

Neom’s Perfect Night’s Sleep Overnight Facial Cream
Bubble Up’s Blissed Out Berry Bath Melt Bar

A great (and in my opinion a better) alternative to a bath bomb, Bubble Up’s Blissed Out Berry Bath Melt Bar created colour, bubbles and was very moisturising to the skin. The only thing it didn’t quite get right was the fragrance and its strength. But overall still a great product to put into the bath.

So that’s my round up for April completed. What products did you use in April and how do you rate them? Let’s see what the month of May has to bring….
