  • Pampering Glow’s Rainbow Reef Whipped Soap

There’s so many different types of products that can be used to clean the skin on our bodies. Bars of soap, body washes, shower gels, there’s lots to choose from on the market. What I don’t see everywhere on the high street is whipped soaps. I’ve only ever purchased them from small businesses and my latest one came from Glow. Included in their October’s Subscription Box, was Rainbow Reef Whipped Soap.

    Glow’s Rainbow Reef Whipped Soap
    Why did I use this?

It’s getting a little colder and my skin needed a more moisturising experience in the shower. Not only that, but I find whipped soaps to be a simple, quick but pampering experience which my body needs right now!

    What’s a whipped soap?

A whipped soap is used to clean the body in the bath and/or shower. It literally is a whipped soap, soft, light, not solid, and should be an effective cleanser but moisturising at the same time.

    The look

Rainbow Reef Whipped soap is a beautiful shade of light blue with darker speckles of blue running through it. In the pot it looks like the consistency of whipped cream. You can see how it literally has been pipped into it’s packaging which makes it look almost edible.

    Fragrance

This has an almost mineral base to this. Clean, fresh but slightly sweetened with a hint of citrus. This is beautifully scented and wouldn’t be offensive to anyone.

    Texture

I expected this to be softer but it actually has a nice density to it which I like. It is soft, it definitely is whipped but holds its shape which meant it was easy to use.

    In the bath

I used this while in the bath. A small amount of Rainbow Reef Whipped Soap was placed on a sponge and I rubbed it over my damp skin. The fragrance was intoxicating, which made using this really enjoyable. I found the soap almost melted into the sponge when damp, and on the skin created a cream like foam. Not airy bubbles at all but creamy. My skin is still a little irritated at the moment but this gave me no issues at all.

This was very easy to wash off and left my skin feeling very clean and lightly fragranced. It wasn’t dried out at all and I felt it worked as an effective body cleanser.

    Recommended?

It’s took me a long time to get into using whipped soaps because I just didn’t understand them. Why not use a bar of soap or a bath/shower gel? I don’t have that opinion anymore, obviously. What I like about Glow’s Rainbow Reef is the look of it is appealing, the fragrance is stunning, the texture is perfect and it does what it’s designed to do! It cleans the skin on the body in a pampering way and doesn’t dry out the skin. Why would I NOT recommend this?

These whipped soaps are available to purchase individually for £4.95 for 100g. They also come in a variety of fragrances such as Rainbow Reef, Strawberry, Bubblegum and Pineapple Coconut Vanilla. To grab Rainbow Reef (or any others), head over to the website and I dare you not to be tempted by all their bath and body treats!

  • Budget Friendly 99p Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Facial Wash

I think it’s safe to say that the cost of living right now is hitting most people hard! Ordinary items that at one point were affordable are less so. One area I’ve tried to cut back on is skincare. I LOVE skincare and I enjoy looking after my face, but my credit card doesn’t like to pay for it. So it’s a good job I’ve always been open to cheaper alternatives to get the same skincare jobs done but at a lower price point. I recently bought Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash for 99p for 150ml.

    Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash
    Why did I buy this?

I bought this because we ran out of cleanser. I say WE as in a cleanser for myself and my children. They have a routine of washing their faces in the morning and evening. The problem now is when it comes to this product as soon as I buy it it’s time to replace it. So I thought I would give this a go because the Lacura range is actually decent quality. This cleanser is fragrance and soap free and ideal for sensitive skin. I like this especially for my children and of course I loved the price!

What is this supposed to do?

Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash is designed to gently clean the skin without irritating or stripping it. No fragrance, no soap and no colour means this is supposed to be ideal for sensitive skin but still be an effective cleanser.

    Packaging

150m of face wash comes in a standard, flip topped/bottomed plastic tube. Very basic in design and look. But with the colouring being white and green it reminds me of the brand Simple. So this possibly could be a dupe for their Moisturising Face Wash.

    Fragrance & Look

No fragrance as this is fragrance free. And no colour as it’s colour free. But it does have the typical facial wash texture to it. Liquid but glossy and almost a pearlescent white colour.

    In use

I didn’t need to use too much of this. A blob rubbed into my wet face lathered up well. The lack of fragrance wasn’t distracting and the wash itself was easy to rinse off. It removed the general dirt, grime, eyebrow pencil and sunscreen in the evening effectively, and cleaned my skin well in the morning. I didn’t feel as if it stripped my skin of it’s natural oils but I didn’t feel it was moisturising enough for me.

I’ve found I enjoy using cleansers more and more these days. This particular one not so much. There’s a feeling of using it because it serves a purpose rather than giving me enjoyment in my skincare routine.

    Recommended?

If you are someone who want an affordable facial wash that doesn’t have fragrance or colour, this will do the job! No real issues with your skin and just need it clean, this will do it and will also be a decent product for younger people in the family as well. My daughter uses this with no problem and her skin is normal to oily in some areas. So this could actually be the product the whole family can use. For 99p, Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Facial Wash is ideal for those on a low budget or simply don’t want to spend too much on skincare.

  • March Round Up, What Products Did I Use?

If this year continues to fly by as it has been, it will be Christmas in no time! Another month has disappeared and a new one has begun. March for me was full of new products to try with some being brilliant purchases if you want a pamper but on a budget. So what did I use?

March 2023 Round Up Of Products Used
    Beauty Pro’s 49p Sheet Masks

It’s hard to get a skincare sheet mask wrong, but when it’s right it’s right! For 49p Beauty Pro’s Turmeric Infused Sheet Mask was enjoyable to use, incredibly moisture giving and made my skin feel and look great.

Champneys Health Spa Calming Incense Gift

A form of home fragrance people have used in the past but possibly forgotten about, is the incense sticks. Champneys Health Spa Calming Incense Gift fragranced rooms well but not too strong and overpowering. Easy to use and an interesting alternative to wax based home fragrance products.

Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter

A product that had been gifted to me from UK based wax, body and bath product vendor Glow. This was my first introduction to their new body care range. Amber & Lavender Body Butter may possibly be my favourite fragrance in body butter form I’ve ever used. The melting on the skin texture of this and it’s moisturising action made this a winner and a product I love!

    Face Facts Ceramide Gentle Cleanser

Face Facts Ceramide Gentle Cleanser is an affordable, ceramide based, fragrance free cleanser which is ideal for sensitive and dry skin. Easy and quick to use and something I’m still using in my daily skincare routine today and will probably repurchase when it finishes.

Bath & Body Works Body Cream In Winterberry Wonder

Although I’ve heard about the brand Bath & Body Works, Winterberry Wonder was the first product from their brand I’ve used. Nicely presented, stunning fragrance but not as rich in texture and as moisturising in action as I hoped it would be. Decent bargain when I bought it in the sale, but not something I would purchase at full price.

Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar From LUSH

Relaxation is a must for me considering how busy my life is. Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar From LUSH is the perfect night time bath product to use to help with general pampering and to aide relaxation. Smells great, foams up beautifully and adds a little colour to the water. Bliss!

Glow’s March Bath & Body Subscription Box

There was so much product in Glow’s March Bath & Body Subscription Box that I’m struggling to use every piece of it! A generous and indulgent set that included products for the bath and body which could be used everyday or for special occasions. Unbelievable value and I can’t wait to use everything in this!

Aldi’s Lacura Lynx Dupe Shower Gels

You have to love Aldi! The amount of dupes that they in their Lacura range has been impressive but very cheeky! Their Lacura Lynx Dupe Shower Gels have been a regular purchase in my house since I discovered them. They now help to keep my teenage son clean, smell nice and save me some money compared to their Lynx counterparts.

    Alsi’s Lacura Men Shower Gels

So that’s my March 2023 round up! Lots of products, lots of fun using them and many have been very affordable which my pocket loves.

  • Budget Friendly Face Facts Ceramide Gentle Cleanser

How much money should we spend on keeping our skin clean? I love a good quality cleanser. But buying an expensive one might be ok as a one off purchase, but what happens when you need to repeat purchase it 2/3 months later? This is the main reason I try not to spend too much on indvidual skincare products in general, especially the ones used daily. So I decided to purchase Face Facts Ceramide Cleanser from Home Bargains when I needed a new cleansing product. It cost £2.49 for 200ml.

    Face Facts Ceramide Cleanser
    Why did I buy this?

My current cleanser was running low and I needed a new one and I didn’t want to buy the same one again. This caught my eye because it was a good size, fragrance free and contained a good set of ingredients (including oats, which I love!). Plus this was incredibly affordable which is a must right now!

What is this supposed to do?

Suitable for dry and sensitive skin, this facial cleanser is designed to clean skin by removing dirt and make-up. Face Facts Ceramide Hydrate Gentle Cleanser is supposed to hydrate the skin and help to strengthen the protective skin barrier.

    Packaging

This cleanser is housed in a very simple and plain white, plastic bottle with a pump action dispenser. It’s very basic but practical, and won’t just appeal to the ladies but the men too. There is a certain skincare brand out there that has their cleansers in the same shaped bottles and has a similar style to them as this, so is this a possible dupe? One word…CeraVe!

    Fragrance

There isn’t one! It’s fragrance free which makes this ideal for people who have sensitive skin or simply don’t like their skincare fragranced.

    The cleanser itself

The consistency of this is like most facial washes. It’s clear (not coloured), liquid but not loose and not too thin.

    In use

On the packaging its says use 2-3 pumps. But honestly I only needed one. Applied onto my damp face, this cleanser foamed up in a light, creamy way. The texture was pleasant on my skin and rinsed off like a dream. This removed eyebrow pencil and sun cream (evening bathing routine) and left my skin feeling and looking fresh and dirt free.

    Skin afterwards

For the first few days of using this cleanser, my skin felt (but didn’t look it) a little tight. I got a squeaky clean feel which I sometimes get when using a facial wash instead of something more cream based. But this sensation disappeared the more I used this as if my skin was getting used to it.

I’ve used this morning and evening for about 2/3 weeks. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do. My skin looks and feels clean and it removes everything that needs to come off it. No irritation and gentle around my eyes.

    Recommended?

This isn’t a skincare product I’m in love with. There’s nothing exciting about it, it doesn’t have an amazing scent to it and doesn’t feel incredibly luxurious and pampering. What it is is practical. It does what it’s supposed to do and does it effectively. Easy and quick to use, which is perfect when you are time starved. And it’s affordable! For many people at the moment, things like this NEED to be affordable, which this is. I would be happy to repeat purchase this once this current bottle runs out.

This can be bought direct from various places in different sizes such as Face Facts, Home Bargains and Amazon.
