  • Sweet Inspired Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel

Having a bath or a shower is part of everyone’s daily routine. It’s not just a way of keeping clean but for many of us it’s a time of relaxation and time out. Whether it’s a quick 5 minute shower or an hour in the bath, personally I like using good quality products in both. So I was so excited when Glow released bath and body products in their March Subscription Box this year which included Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel.

Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel
    Why did I use this?

I’m a fan of anything that smells sweet, comforting, almost edible and that’s why I wanted to use this. It’s one of my favourite types of scents in general but especially in the bath and shower. So I couldn’t wait to try this out.

    Packaging

Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel comes in a tall, black flip topped lidded bottle with a white label on the front. I like how this is totally opaque and black in colour because it’s a bit different and stands out. It’s not the easiest bottle to squeeze the shower gel out as it’s so rigid so easier to pour.

    Fragrance

This definitely smells like candy floss! Sweet, sugar based but with the fruity and berry like scent of raspberry which has a slight tartness to it. It smells great and even though it’s sweet it’s not too much.

    Consistency

Clear and liquid but probably a little looser than other shower gels I’ve used before.

    In the bath

Although this is a shower gel I mostly use this in the bath. Under warm running water this foams up quickly and beautifully. White, fluffy and and super soft bubbles were formed and they were beyond plentiful. Not only were there masses of them these bubbles lasted for a long, long time!

The fragrance was definitely there while using this. This is a perfect scent if you want something sweet but not heady. The strength was just right.

I enjoy using this in the bath. It always provides a very relaxing bath full of bubbles, softly fragrant and doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s actually very gentle on my skin even when it feels quite itchy and sore because of the changes in the weather.

In the shower this provides the same sort of experience. Same fragrance, produces lots of bubbles but more creamy on the sponge. And it cleans my body effectively without stripping it of it’s natural moisture.

    Recommended?

Raspberry Candyfloss from Glow is a great bath and shower product. The amount of bubbles it creates is insane, the formula is gentle on the skin and the smell is delicious! Totally recommended! For a handmade product from a small business you would think this would be expensive, but it’s only £4.00 for 250ml.

If Raspberry Candyfloss isn’t your type of fragrance, there are other’s available such as Coconut Whisper, Sparkling Peach and more. Find your perfect bath and shower partner here to purchase.

  • Glow’s Crime Scene Investigators April Wax Subscription Box Part 2

Who doesn’t love a subscription box? As long as it contains products we want and/or need most of us would agree they are a brilliant idea. The best part about it is you can get a subscription box containing pretty much anything these days. Food, drink, bath and body products and even wax melts (and more of course). It’s taken me a few weeks to be able to use and enjoy the gifted Crime Scene Investigators April Wax Subscription Box from UK based business Glow. But now I can reveal EXACTLY what these wax melts smell like and how they performed.

Glow’s Crime Scene Investigators April Wax Subscription Box
Blood Orange & Oakwood Wax Melt

Uplifting and zesty (but not sickly sweet) orange mixed in with the woody, slightly masculine oak wood with a hint of floral. This combination is AMAZING and surprised me as I’ve never smelt anything like this before.

Blood Orange & Oakwood Wax Melt
    Gunpowder Tea & Minerals

Gunpowder Tea & Minerals has an almost smoky smell to it. Think of a fire that’s just died out and the smell of it lingers. But with this it also has a sea like mineral hint to it which gives it a little freshness. There’s quite a bit of musk to this one, so it’s not for the faint hearted but I really like it!

Gunpowder Tea & Minerals Wax Melt
    In The Shadows

This is a beautiful blend of floral and fruit. The fruity element is the very distinctive rhubarb and the floral isn’t heavy, so possibly white florals rather than something heady like rose. It’s a gorgeous fragrance and perfect to melt during Summer. This is a winner for anyone who loves the smell of rhubarb and I love rhubarb.

    In The Shadows Wax Melt
Sun kissed Raisins & Autumn Leaves

Sun kissed Raisins & Autumn Leaves has an almost bakery/fruity like scent to it. There’s spices in this giving it warmth and depth. There’s a plant like element to it so a little earthy. But there’s sweetness to this and something very comforting which I suspect is vanilla. I can’t fault this fragrance!

Sunkissed Raisins & Autumn Leaves Wax Melt
    Musk Till Dawn

Musk Till Dawn is a glorious mix of woody notes and creamy, sweet coconut with a hint of floral. I would never have put these elements together but they work perfectly. This possibly could be my favourite wax melt in this subscription box.

    How did they perform?

All of these wax melts were medium in strength. They filled each room they were melting in so well I couldn’t help but smell them. Longevity wise these lasted for hours. With all of these melts having some form of shimmering pigment on them, each wax pool was very pretty to look at. And all colours of the wax were varied so not one wax pool looked like another.

Every subscription box I’ve received from Glow I always think the next one can’t top it and then the following one does! The theme of this is incredibly creative but the actually scents are out of this world! I’ve never smelt any like this before and the fragrance choices are definitely risky as they aren’t typical, but worth it. Of course the overall quality is high and longevity great with obvious time and care taken putting this together. If anyone is thinking about purchasing a wax melt subscription box, look no further than Glow!

  • Glow’s Crime Scene Investigators April Wax Subscription Box

Subscription boxes can be so much fun. They are a great way to get a collection of various products posted to you each month normally themed and priced affordably. UK wax vendor Glow’s subscription boxes definitely do this. I’ve bought (and been given) a few of these boxes over the last couple of years. The recent one (which I won) was April’s and it was waxed based and called Crime Scene Investigators.

    Glow’s April Wax Subscription Box
    What was the theme?

This subscription box is crime themed and interactive. Within the subscription box is the ‘case file’ which you use to help solve the murder of a man called Andrew Bailey. Each piece of wax and the added extras in the subscription box are related to the case.

Blood Orange & Oakwood Wax Melt
    What was included?

    5 pieces of wax.

    A clay mask.

    A small magnifying glass.

    A small notebook.

    A pen.

Case notes related to the crime.

What do the wax pieces look like & what are their fragrances?

A spanner-roughly 14cm long spanner shaped wax melt. Blue in colour with a dusting of silver pigment. Chunky, sizeable and looks easy to break up to use. Fragranced in Sun kissed Raisins & Autumn Leaves.

A shoe-shaped like the side of a shoe, this wax melt is brown in colour and is covered in a copper coloured pigment/mica. About 9cms in length and 3 cm wide. Fragranced in Blood Orange & Oakwood.

A packet of cigarettes-this wax melt is shaped like a box of cigarettes. White in colour with a copper and white coloured shimmer to it. Just over 8cm in length and 5cm across. Fragranced in Musk til Dawn.

Mobile phone-a basic mobile phone shape lilac in colour with a silver pigment on the ‘screen’. 5cm across and 10cm in length. Fragranced in Gun Powder Tea & Minerals.

Petrol can-green in colour with gold pigment on the front and fragranced in In The Shadows.

Sun kissed Raisins & Autumn Leaves Wax Melt
    Fragrances

These are not my usual wax melt fragrance choices. I would never choose these in a million years and this is why I’m glad I’m getting the chance to experience them. Each wax is quite masculine in scent, aromatic but not overwhelming. Each one smells different from each other and are very distinctive. These are beautifully scented and I can’t wait to get them melting!

Gunpowder Tea & Minerals Wax Melt
    First impressions?

This is an incredibly imaginative themed box. From the theme in general to how the wax pieces look. The added extras e.g the magnifying glass are a great touch. And the crime file and interactive element absolutely genius! The time, energy and care put into Crime Scene Investigators April Wax Subscription Box was impressive and the usual high standard I’m now used to with Glow. Every time I think their boxes can’t be beaten they release another one which is even better!

If you haven’t tried any of their wax products (wax melts and candles), you really should visit their website here. Their quality is amazing!

  • *New* Glow’s Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume

One of the most exciting product launches for me isn’t from a brand you find on the high street, but from a small business. Glow is known to their customers as being a wax melt vendor. Their range of home fragrance products has increased over the last few years. But recently they’ve ventured into creating and selling bath, body and fragrance products. I was gifted various items from their new collection, including Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume. This retails for £4.50.

    Glow’s Madame Coco Perfume Rollerball
    Packaging

Madame Coco comes in a a typical shaped rollerball vial. It’s made from clear glass and has a screw top lid which covers the metal roller ball that releases the fragrance. Perfect size to keep in your pocket, bag and easily transportable.

    Fragrance

This smells to me like a classic, sophisticated fine fragrance. It’s feminine, floral based (I suspect mostly white florals) with a hint of something a little stronger floral wise, possibly rose. It’s quite clean in scent with a delicate citrus to it and slight woodiness to it as well.

    Is this a dupe?

I’m guessing it’s ‘inspired’ by Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle. I’ve never owned this fragrance or smelt it recently. So how accurate as a dupe this is I can’t say, but it’s definitely a great and affordable alternative.

    On the skin

When I apply this, what I like is this perfume is actually quite moisturising. I didn’t expect it to go onto my skin almost oil like but it does without a greasy or oily feel to it. When it’s rubbed between my wrists, it leaves no obvious residue but somehow feels as if something is on this area and doesn’t dry it out.

    Strength & Longevity

This is medium in strength. There’s only so much perfume you can apply onto the wrists or the neck. So the strength can only remain the same (if reapplied) or naturally becomes less. When I use this I can smell it clearly, but not in the same way a mist or a sprayed fragrance would hit. Longevity is good. I’ve used this and I’ve found it’s still on my skin a good number of hours later without reapplying but lesser in strength which is expected.

Glow’s Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume & Body Mist
    Recommended?

A rollerball perfume wouldn’t be my first choice of fragrance delivery and not something I would gravitate to. I’m a spray kind of girl. What I’ve noticed with Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume is it’s a very personal way of using fragrance because you’re literally applying it for yourself, which I like. It smells amazing, great quality, easy to use and keep around and is brilliantly priced. What a lovely gift idea this would be for someone who loves fragrance! Or a great introduction to fragrance for someone just getting into it. I’m won over and would happily purchase this for myself and for others. This is totally a product that’s on my recommended list!

Other fragrances are available on the website are La Vie EST Belle, Baccarat Rouge, Perfect, Olympea and Lost Cherry. The majority of these are inspired by well known designer fragrances but at a fraction of the cost of the original fragrances. Who said luxury wasn’t affordable?
