I have lots and lots of body products in various forms such as creams, butters and lotions. But there is always one that I come back to time and time again because it never fails to keep my skin in good condition, and that’s Aveeno Moisturising Lotion. Why is this one of my favourite go to products?
I was prescribed this….
I’ve had issues with my skin on and off for years. Not just the usual dry skin but actual skin conditions (long story but apparently I suffered from psoriasis which has no morphed into eczema!). This was prescribed by my GP because at one stage my face didn’t look dry, it felt dry and tight and nothing helped it. I stopped using everything else and just applied this as not only my facial but my body moisturiser to help it get back to normal. And when the skin on my body gets irritated, I slip this into my routine to calm it down as well.
What is this supposed to do?
This lotion is designed for sensitive and dry skin. Suitable for babies from 3 months old right up to adults. Aveeno Moisturising Lotion helps to provide long lasting moisture to the skin and helps to stop moisture from leaving the skin by giving it a protective barrier.
Packaging
This lotion comes in different sizes. The one I use is 500ml. This comes in a cream coloured plastic bottle with green flip top lid. I mention the colouring because it fits in well with the idea of it being nourishing, wholesome, even natural to a degree.
Look, consistency & fragrance
Aveeno Moisturising Lotion is white in colour and typical lotion texture. Smooth, not runny but loose enough to use. There’s no scent to this which is ideal for those who are sensitive to fragrance.
On the skin
I use this lotion from my face straight down to my feet. It’s light weight. I’m probably over generous with the amount I use, but it sinks in easily and can be layered if needed. It doesn’t leave the skin looking or feeling greasy, just healthy. This means once applied, clothes can be put on straight away.
Using this twice a day (morning and night) most of the time is the right amount of applications. The skin on my body doesn’t get dry too easily and this helps it stay in good condition. If, for whatever unholy reason, my face doesn’t seem to absorb and retain any moisture, this does the trick! I’ve had dry eyelids and very dry areas around the nose as well. Using this almost helps to regulate my face and then if I need to, can go back to a more fuller skincare routine.
Skin conditions
It’s important for me to add that when areas of my body ‘play up’, they can be itchy, red and raised. Aveeno Moisturising Lotion doesn’t change that, it just helps to stop these areas drying out. This is when I sometimes have to use a steroid cream to help control the skin and improve it in a way Aveeno can’t.
Recommended?
Aveeno Moisturising Lotion is one of those products EVERYONE should have in their home for lots of different reasons. It can be used on the majority of the family regardless of age. Helps to moisturise dry and sensitive skin, lightweight, sinks in and doesn’t leave the skin greasy. And can be used even on the face! I’ve recommended this to a few male friends who were suffering from dry skin on their face but didn’t want a proper skincare routine. Guess what? They’ve loved it and said it made a difference!
This is available to purchase on the high street and in your local chemist. It’s not the cheapest product available but it’s worth it because it works! Currently (at the time of writing this post) on a 3 for 2 promotion at Boots, this also includes their skincare products which are great if you want to expand your skincare routine with this brand.
