If you love skincare products like me, you will probably have a hoarding problem. You will buy things, convinced you will use them, put them away and then never see that pot of cream or tube of serum again. Until you accidently stumble on a product months later and your memory kicks in. This is me. Unfortunately, this is what happened when I purchased elf’s Happy Hydration Cream. I bought it from Boots ages ago and this normally retails for £12.00.
Why did I buy this?
I saw a lot of feedback online about the brand e.l.f. The main points that came up were they had a variety of skincare products available but all at mid point prices. The reviews of these products said they were great quality. So I decided to buy Happy Hydration Cream because not only did I want to try out the brand, but I wanted a face cream. Plus at the time it was on a 3 for 2 promotion so technically it cost me NOTHING!
What does this do?
e.l.f’s Happy Hydration Cream is a facial moisturiser designed to give the skin a much needed boost of moisture thanks to it’s rich texture and ingredients such as hemp seed oil, Vitamin B5 (helps the skin retain moisture), Hyaluronic Acid (gives hydration) and Niacinamide (helps with fine lines, wrinkles, hydration).
Packaging
This cream comes in what feels like a glass pot with a screw top lid. Simple, modern and very practical. The pot comes boxed with it’s overall look not being cheap or expensive.
Fragrance
There isn’t one it’s fragrance free!
Consistency & Texture
This moisturiser is white and glossy in appearance. It doesn’t move in the pot, but when taken out there is a slight thickness to it. It’s not watery or fluid like but smooth and rich.
On the skin
I’ve used this product on and off morning and/or night time, on it’s own or alongside other products. My skin has suffered a lot with the changes in weather so one minute its fine and then its dry. What I found using this was the texture is rich and luxurious but not heavy or greasy. It applies great and feels very comforting on my skin and quite protective. There’s an immediate feeling of this being a moisture giver and I love it! My skin doesn’t look shiny after use and this works well with other products too e.g oils, serums, sun cream etc.
The packaging does say this is suitable for all skin types but I would say this is more for normal to dry. When my skin has been very dry in look and feel, I’ve layered this with a facial oil because on it’s own it wasn’t enough. Very dry skin is rare for me, so when my skin is normal to a little on the dry side, this works well on it’s own.
Recommended?
I like this moisturiser. I’m a lover of texture so this being on the rich side is what I like. The feel of it on the skin, the slight slip it has. The fact it’s not fragranced is great because sometimes I don’t want fragrance, especially if my skin isn’t behaving itself. So if you have normal to dry skin, and looking for a face cream that won’t blow the bank, look at this! Definitely recommended!.
