Bath bombs are an incredibly popular bath product. They comes in various shapes, sizes and scents. So it’s no surprise people will purchase them as either a treat and a form of pampering, or a regular bath product. But not everyone has a bath, so can they experience something similar with something else? I picked up Feather & Down’s Sweet Dreams Bath & Shower Steamers from Home Bargains for 99p!
Why did I buy these?
I know of this brand but I’ve never tried any of their products. They are designed to aide relaxation. I liked the idea of these being shower steamers, the packaging was striking and they were only 99p!
What are these?
Feather & Down’s Sweet Dreams Bath & Shower Steamers can be used in two different ways. They can be used as a traditional bath bomb where you pop it under warm running water. Or you can place it on the bottom of your bath/shower. The water and the heat making contact will release fragrance which contains lavender and chamomile oils.
Packaging
These bath and shower steamers come in a cardboard tube, dark blue in colour with gold detailing. The look of it is appealing. It’s practical in regards to how it’s housed and overall I really like it! The shower steamers (6) are individually shrink wrapped which is great because they are protected and you can open them up if and when needed to use.
Fragrance
Lightly lavender scented, so has a herbal, relaxing fragrance to it. it’s a little sweet so not too earthy and aromatherapy based and it’s really pleasant.
How does the bath & shower steamer look?
These look like giant sized tablets. Disc shaped, chunky and lilac coloured. On both sides the words feather & down are embossed into them.
In the shower
I placed one of these in the bath close to wear the shower was positioned above. I thought it would be an ideal place for some of the water to hit it and also for the heat to help push the fragrance too. Fragrance wise I didn’t get much. A faint whiff of it yes, and when I knelt down closer to the steamer I could smell it better but not by much. It dissolved slowly, which was what I expected and was very quick and easy to clean the bath out once finished.
In the bath
I treated these like a normal bath fizzer and placed it under warm, running water. The fragrance was there faintly (more so compared to using this in the shower). No foam but lots of fizz and it turned the water into the palest shade or purple known to man. The bath it created didn’t give me any form of wow factor so I threw in another one which didn’t add too much to it.
I felt I was sat in slightly coloured and unbelievably light fragranced water. As a bath it did the bare minimum but added nothing to my bathing experience. The only thing that stuck out in my mind was the fact it didn’t irritate my skin or dry it out.
Recommended?
No. The packaging is great, the look of the steamers are ideal and even the fragrance is quite nice. But it didn’t deliver enough of a punch in both the shower and the bath. I expected the fragrance to be more intense than what it was especially for a shower steamer. And it didn’t create the relaxing bath I had hoped for. The only person this would benefit would be those who like their herbal, aromatherapy style scents but want something incredibly subtle and light in scent.
