Summer in the UK has been very up and down recently. A few days of blistering heat and sun has turned into clouds, dullness, chilly wind and rain. Despite this change, most of us have some form of sun cream or lotion sat on a bathroom shelf waiting to be used. And so does my family. We currently use Garnier‘s Ambre Solaire Kids Sensitive Advanced Protection Lotion spf50. Bought from ASDA for £8.00 for 175ml. But what is this like?
What does this product do?
Garnier’s Ambre Solaire Kids Sensitive Advanced Protection Lotion is suitable for kids with sensitive skin. Fragrance free, provides UVA and UVB protection. Very resistant against water, salt, chlorine, sand and sweat. Designed not to leave the skin feeling and looking greasy and is supposed to leave no white cast on the skin.
Packaging
This product comes in a tube that’s partly made from cardboard. Great for recycling, but does have a different feel to it compared to a plastic tube. It looks appealing, it has all the relevant information you want to know about the lotion on the front which makes purchasing easier.
Consistency, look & fragrance
The consistency of this lotion is quite thick and not runny. But fluid enough to use easily. It holds it’s shape when squeezed out. White in colour and no fragrance to it because it’s fragrance free!
On the skin
I use this product on myself and my children use this too. From my face to any other areas that’s exposed, I use this daily regardless of weather, temperature or sun. When using any form of sun cream or lotion, it’s one of those products you should be quite generous with and I am with this product. I normally apply this twice on my face because it does need a decent amount of rubbing in. One thick layer would be too much but two thinner layers easier. This leaves a slightly white tint to my skin at first (I am black), but it disappears when rubbed in properly.
Kids Sensitive Advanced Protection Lotion has such a lovely, moisturising texture to it. Although I put it over a moisturiser I don’t need to. My skin feels hydrated and protected without it feeling heavy, and it doesn’t make my skin look greasy. I don’t need to reapply this regularly because I’m not outside for long periods of time. And it stands up well when I’m feeling hot and perspiring and if it rains.
Recommended?
This is the second time I’ve purchased this sun protection product because I’m happy with how it performs. I can use it on my face as well as my body. My skin doesn’t feel dried out, it feels comfortable and moisturised. With a little rubbing in, my skin colour doesn’t change and looks perfectly normal which is important for people with darker skin tones. I like the fact this can be used by everyone in my household and is readily available on the high street, so, yes, recommended!
Available in travel size at Boots for £5.00 and still only £8.00 for the full size (usually £16.00) at ASDA.
