This is a controversial statement, but I love a cleanser! It’s actually one of my favourite skincare products. Why? There is NOTHING nicer than having a clean, fresh, face ready for bed or ready for the start of the day. Getting rid of dirt, grime, make-up and starting a fresh? Oh I love it! So although people may find it to be a boring product, I find it’s a gem. I’ve recently started to use Lotions & Potions Cleansing Balm from their December Pamper Box. So why am I using it now and what is it like?

My cleanser ran out!
I was using Aldi’s Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser. It’s not been available to buy recently (I had a stock pile). Then I remembered this cleansing balm from Lotions & Potions December Pamper Box and I thought this was the perfect time to use it. I LOVE cleansing balms anyway. So it wasn’t a case of IF I would use this it was more WHEN!
I double cleanse
In the morning I wash my face with Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Wash. It’s basic but it works and we can all use it in our household, teens included. But at night time, I would double cleans to remove not only the daily dirt of the day, but also sun cream (which I wear EVERY DAY!). I like my evening cleansing routine to be more thorough because of this, so I find a thicker, textured cleanser worked into my skin, gets rids of everything. Plus it tends to make my skin feel nourished as well. A cleansing balm is perfect for double cleansing and I would use this first then the facial wash, so nothing is left sitting on the skin.
What does this cleanser do?
This cleansing balm removes dirt, grime and make-up gently but effectively without stripping the skin.
Packaging
My version comes in a cute, homely, screw top silver tin which I love, and contains 100ml of cleansing balm.

Ingredients
The main ingredient of this cleansing balm is shea butter, which is anti-inflammatory, protective and moisturising on the skin.
Fragrance
There isn’t one. Well, this one hasn’t as it was kindly made for me fragrance free.
In use
I take a small amount (enough to cover a few finger tips) and rub between my fingers. It goes from a soft solid to an oil within seconds. This means rubbing it into my skin (dry skin) is easy and effortless. The good thing about the consistency of this balm is you can massage it into the skin for a few minutes. That means you can be very thorough and take your time with this part of the skincare routine. Once I’ve massaged this over my face for a few minutes, I take a warm, damp face cloth and remove as much as I can of the balm. Then I follow up with a second cleanse, currently Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Wash.
This cleansing balm removes everything off my face. But removing the cleanser takes a bit of time. I do feel after using a face cloth there’s still a layer of the balm on my skin and I have to use my facial wash twice to finish it off. What I will say is my skin looks clean, feels clean, supple and treated before I apply a moisturiser.

Who is this for?
People who suffer from dry skin, wear make-up, sun cream, feel as if their face is grimy or dirty and not clean. But also for those who just love richer textures from their cleansers, which I do! And for those who enjoy and are in the habit of double cleansing, they will like using this.
Who this isn’t for?
People who just want to wash and go their face. They hate greasy or oily textures and they see skincare as a chore not a ritual. Not for you!
Recommended?
If you fall into the ‘who this is for’ camp yes! Lovely texture, easy to use and overall an effective cleanser. Take your time applying it but also take your time removing it, and your skin will thank you later!
