  • Affordable Skin & Body Products In ASDA & Home Bargains

Who doesn’t love a bargain? Products that cost less than what they normally retail for make my credit card twitch! If you’re visiting your local ASDA and Home Bargains store soon, keep your eyes open. I’ve found the following skin and body care products on sale for really good prices…

Budget Friendly Skin and Body Care Products in ASDA & Home Bargains
    Nivea’s Moisturising Night Cream

Nivea’s Moisturising Night Cream is designed to moisturise the skin and help combat any environmental issues affecting the skin. Idea for a normal skin type. Nivea is a well known and popular brand available everywhere, so is very much trusted. This particular moisturiser was half price in ASDA and only cost £2.50.

    Nivea’s Moisturising Night Cream
    Nivea’s Nourishing Night Cream

Similar to the Moisturising Night Cream, but Nivea’s Nourishing Night Cream is for those with sensitive and dry skin. Possibly a thicker or richer texture considering the skin type its targeting. With almond oil this should be incredibly hydrating on the skin. Half price in ASDA and only costs £2.50.

Dr Paw Paw’s Age Renewal Hand Cream

Dr Paw Paw’s Age Renewal Hand Cream contains natural ingredients including aloe vera, olive oil and papaya, this hand cream should be moisturising and protecting. It’s also vegan, suitable for all skin types and costs only £1.69 in Home Bargains.

Dr Pw Paw’s Age Renewal Hand Cream
Sanctuary Spa’s Foaming Micellar Cleansing Water

This cleanser is supposed to help remove daily dirt and grime and make-up effectively but be gentle on the skin. Soothing, and should leave the skin feeling and looking fresher, this cleanser is only 99p for 50ml in Home Bargains.

    Sanctuary Spa’s Foaming Micellar Water

These are four products I’ve spotted recently which should be more expensive than what they are being sold for, but thankfully are not! Looking after your skin doesn’t have to be expensive and these products and prices prove this.

  • The Demise Of The Body Shop

I’ve had lots of discussions over the last few months about the high street store The Body Shop. Going into administration, stores closing, job loses, all of it seems incredibly sad but not surprising. I’ve purchased different products from The Body Shop as a teen and then later on as an adult. But why don’t I buy from them anymore? And are these the same reasons other people don’t purchase from them as well?

    Prices

The majority of products The Body Shop sells is expensive, let’s be honest! There’s too many brands out there that sell similar products cheaper. Currently, a 200g body butter costs £19.00 with the smaller 50g version priced at £7.00. You could pick up different branded body butters for more ml and at a lower price point. Soap & Glory’s Call of Fruit Body Butter costs £7.49 (a third off currently) for 300ml. No7 Beautiful Skin Intensive Body Butter is £11.96 (on offer) for 270ml. Garnier Body Superfood Cocoa & Ceramide normal rrp £9.99 currently £4.99 for 380ml. These are just a few on the high street but highlights the price differences clearly.

The Body Shop’s Warm Vanilla Sugar Body Scrub
Holy grail products or lack of

Brands have products that customers rave and shout about from the roof tops if the product is good. The Body Shop don’t really have this. The only product that seems to be a favourite is the Camomile Sumptuous Makeup Cleansing Butter. And I agree it’s a fabulous product, I’ve used it, reviewed it and loved it! But what other stand out products have there been?

    Lacks a buzz

Stores are nicely laid out and products are packaged well. But I walk past the stores and I don’t want to go in, they don’t excite me. Products look and sound nice but they don’t always appeal to me. It lacks an energy and although shouldn’t need to compete with more modern brands, it comes across dated in all areas.

The Body Shop’s Berry Bath Blend

On the whole I don’t think The Body Shop adapted. High prices, lack of iconic products and not making the public feel it’s the brand for them didn’t help. Some stores have already closed, the rest looks like they will follow but the brand is still trading online. I’m sad to see it’s struggles. My teenage years included using their perfumed oils. Memories of dowsing myself in vanilla, dewberry and white musk scents, will stay with me forever and they were good times. I’ve even enjoyed using some of their products over the last few years. But my cost of living budget can’t afford them and I won’t buy something that I can get somewhere else, just as good if not better, for cheaper! Sorry The Body Shop.

  • Affordable Fragrance & Body Care Products In Home Bargains

Many of us at the moment are trying to spend less and make our money work harder for us. This is with anything we have to pay for. Everyday shopping very much falls into this category, which includes the products we use on our bodies. A store I think of as a one stop shop has got to be Home Bargains. This week I found a few new products which, if I’m honest, I’ve already bought one! So what did they have?

    New products at Home Bargains
    Miss So…? Body Mists

Miss So…?’s Body Mists are probably my daughter’s favourite body sprays to use. So I was happy to see these lined up beautifully on a very full shelf. There were 6 different fragrances available, which were:

    Pink Grapefruit

    Floriental

    Red Velvet

    Pina Colada

    Peony Petals

    Lollipop Galore

All 100ml, and each fragrance was very different to each other but would layer so well together. £1.49 for 100ml.

    Nuage Oatmeal Daily Moisturising Cream

There were a few things that I liked about Nuage Oatmeal Daily Moisturising Cream. It contains oat extra which is nourishing and calming on the skin. It’s fragrance free so perfect when not wanting a fragranced product or skin is sensitive to it. The size is MASSIVE and the price! For 600ml this costs only £1.99!

    Nuage’s Oatmeal Daily Moisturising Cream
    w7 Bubbling Charcoal Mask

w7 Self Bubbling Black Charcoal O2 Mask is supposed to be ideal for normal, dry and oily skin types. It will help purify the skin and while wearing it create a bubbling effect over the mask. 69p.

w7’s Self Bubbling Black Charcoal Mask

The one product I bought out of these new finds was the Miss So…? Pink Grapefruit Body Mist for my daughter. it smells great, easy to travel with size and affordable at less than £1.50!

So these are my latest finds in Home Bargains that caught my attention. It’s safe to say each product is affordable and great for those who are on a budget.

  • Miss So…? Body Fragrance Sprays For 89p!

There are certain stores/shops I always go to because of convenience, products available and prices. One store I rarely go into is Bodycare. Mainly because my nearest one is in the city centre and I don’t go there often. But I went into town recently, visited Bodycare, and I noticed a product I might pick up on my next trip. This was Miss So…? Body Fragrance Sprays, which cost 89p for 75ml.

Miss So…? Body Fragrances in Bodycare
    Why these?

I’ve bought many different Miss So…? fragrance products in different forms before, including Love Potion Fraiche, Secret Crush Perfume Mist and Midnight Magic Oriental Vanilla & Praline Perfume Mist. All of them I’ve enjoyed but none have cost 89p! I don’t expect this to be the same strength or longevity as other versions of their fragrances, but for 89p these are perfect for my daughter to use daily especially for school, and for me to take to work.

    Fragrances available

Midnight Magic Oriental Vanilla & Praline – a scent including notes of nectarine, strawberry, white chocolate, coconut milk, praline and vanilla. This will be a slightly sweet, comforting fragrance great for those who love their warming bakery food based scents.

Miss So…? Midnight Magic Oriental, Vanilla & Praline Body Fragrance

Secret Crush Peony & Musk – a scent including notes of bergamot, jasmine, cherry blossom, peony, cedarwood, musk and amber. This will be a powdery, clean, fresh floral fragrance.

Miss So…? Secret Crush Peony & Musk Body Fragrance

Love Potion Wild Berries & Jasmine – a scent including notes of apple, red fruits, jasmine, cedarwood and musk. This will be a fruit based fragrance but not too sweet with hints of soft, pretty florals.

Miss So…? Love Potion Wild Berries & Jasmine Body Fragrance

Starlet White Musk & Coconut – a scent including notes of mandarin, coconut, strawberry, white flowers, vanilla, white musk and sandalwood. I actually had a smell of this one and really liked it! It definitely had a slight tropical scent to it but was powdery, so very fresh with the vanilla adding warmth. Not the lightest of scents because it has a bit of depth to it, but I liked it!

Miss So…? Starlet White Musk & Coconut Body Fragrance

I think for the different fragrances available, how these look and price point, these are good buys. I haven’t used these myself (yet!) so longevity I can’t comment on, but I’ve had some of these fragrances in different forms and they’re good. You can’t really go wrong with how much these cost and great for a cheap fragrance fix for any age from pre-teens to adults.
