One of my goals for this year was to use what I have. When it comes to skincare, bath and body products, I have lots and lots of products hoarded away in various places in my home. And when it comes to wax melts, I’m afraid it’s probably worse! My stash is getting a bit silly to be honest. There are only so many hours in a day, but I’m trying to melt what I can when I can. If I don’t, why bother buying them? One wax melt that has made me want to switch on my electric wax melter is The Little Wax Box Co’s Banana Nut Bread. This was part of a birthday/Christmas gift given to me last year by a friend.
Why did I choose this to melt?
This isn’t a scent I would purchase I don’t think. I have no idea why not. That’s one of the reasons why I chose this to melt. I love bakery scents, but wanted to know how this scent could include banana, nuts and bread, if that was at all possible. My brain and my nose just couldn’t quite imagine it so melting it was a must.
Packaging & Shape
This type of wax is what I would call a snap bar. How it’s housed is quite standard for this type of melt, as it’s either in a plastic sleeve or a plastic flip topped lid which this is. This type of casing is what the wax would have been poured into while it was liquid and allowed to set. So what it’s set in creates the shape it later becomes.
The shape of this snap bar is different to what I’ve had before. Rather than it looking like a segmented rectangular bar, this is bow tie shaped. Thicker on the ends and comes in at the middle section. It’s quiet a simple shape but different and I think it’s fun! It is segmented and is made up of 5 sections which you break off to use. The colour of this makes me think of fudge because it’s a neutral mid nude shade. But if you look on the top of it, you can see patches on this with a slight yellow tinge to it. A simple but effective reflection of the fragrance this bar is in.
Fragrance
Wow! This hits my bakery loving sweet spot 100%! There’s a slight nuttiness to this mixed in with a sweet banana fragrance. And I know part of the name of this is ‘bread’, but I get more cake, as there is an amount of brown sugar and a pinch of spice in this. Absolutely intoxicating, drool creating and delish in smell.
In Melt
I snapped off two pieces of this wax and placed it into my wax warmer in the kitchen. The scent was already there before it even melted, so I was interested to see how strong it would be. It took awhile for the wax to melt because it was two reasonably chunky pieces I used. But what was obvious from the start was that this would be a punchy scent. This filled the kitchen, and it spread into the living room which is next door to it. There was no escaping this scent at all because it travelled so well.
The wax when melted created such a yummy looking wax pool. It could have been warmed through fudge or caramel, and I wouldn’t have known whether it was edible and food or simply wax.
Strength & Longevity
From all of my wax melting over the years, I would never say that bakery scents overall are the strongest. But goodness me this one is strong! Very surprising and in a good way because the fragrance is a delight! So I would say this is a medium to strong but closer to the strong end.
Longevity wise this is good. I don’t need to leave this on too long because the scent is still very much in the air even when my warmer is off. But as per usual I will melt this for a few hours at a time. Hay fever has reared it’s ugly head so I haven’t had this on as long as I normally would, but this scent has remained the same including strength wise over the last 2 days of enjoying this.
Recommended?
This particular wax snap bar was the perfect introduction to a vendor I haven’t used or bought from before. Why? My friend who gave me this knows I’m a bakery lover. And for this to be a little on the unusual side, have such a great scent and strength to it means I NEED to purchase from this wax vendor myself! Although this seems to be a seasonal wax melt (Autumn), if other wax pieces are just as good then I expect great things from this company. So I would recommend this wax if it comes back later on in the year, and I would definitely suggest wax lovers to see what other goodies they have available for sale.
Fancy checking out The Little Wax Box Co? Their snap bars come in a massive variety of scents with each bar costing £3.00. There’s even a few that have been reduced to £1.75 which is brilliant value! Here’s the link. And please don’t call me an enabler, but happy shopping!
