  • The Luxurious Philosophy’s Pure Grace Whipped Body Crème

Becoming a mum means disposable income rarely is spent on myself. Before kids I would spend £20.00 on a body oil and not even flinch. Now, that £20.00 is more likely to go on toys or clothing for my children rather than on expensive lotions and potions for me. But I still love good quality products. The key is be more savvy with how much money I spend on them. One brand (definitely not considered a budget one) I love is called Philosophy. I’ve got a few of their products stashed away including their Whipped Body Crème in their Pure Grace fragrance.

Philosophy’s Pure Grace Whipped Body Creme
    Why did I use this?

I’ve used Philosophy’s Whipped Body Crème‘s before. It’s one of those products if I don’t use it for awhile I forget how good it is. Then I use it and can’t put it down! And that’s why I started to use this again, because I missed it!

    Philosophy The Brand

If you haven’t heard of Philosophy they are a US company that creates and sells a variety of beauty products that range from fragrances to body lotions, face creams to cleansers and more.

    Packaging

120ml of product is in a medium sized jar finished off with a screw top lid. Writing in black on the label e.g brand and product name, ingredients etc. Not fuss, very classy and totally unisex.

    Texture

This whipped body crème isn’t thin or runny as a body lotion. But it’s not thick or emollient like as a body butter. It seems to hold its shape in the tub, but when I take this out to use it’s a very whipped, light and airy soft consistency.

    On the skin

This was very easy and quick to rub in. I didn’t need to use too much. Once it was rubbed into my skin it felt soft and smooth. My skin had a healthy, hydrated sheen to it which wasn’t greasy or oily in look or feel. I could put my clothes on straight away and I was good to go. Considering this wasn’t thick and body butter like, it was super moisturising and my skin loved it!

    Fragrance

Imagine that fresh, clean, just come out of the shower or washed your hair type of scent and this is it. To say it smells like soap and water doesn’t do it justice but it sort of describes it so well.

    Let’s Talk Price!

This isn’t cheap. For a jar twice the size of mine, direct from Philosophy, it costs £29.00. I didn’t pay this as I bought it in a set. But with all the other pieces that it came with made it great value. A premium product from a brand that sits in department stores in the US and the UK will have a price tag that relates to this.

    Recommended?

You can spend as much or as little as you like on a body product, it’s whatever suits your budget and your needs. Despite the fact this isn’t for everyone’s taste price wise, this really is a beautiful product. The fragrance is AMAZING! The texture is luxurious and deceptively moisturising on the skin. This does everything you want from a body moisturiser and a little bit more. So if you were looking for something special and willing to pay for it, this would be a brilliant buy.

    • TOP TIP! Do what I did and look out for this in a gift set to get the best value. This product and others from the Pure Grace range can be bought direct from Philosophy, QVC, Boots just to name a few places. Happy shopping!

  • Forest Moon Apple Butter Leaf Wax Melts

Autumn. My favourite time of the year. Weather wise it’s not as extreme as Summer and Winter, and much more cosier in feel compared to Spring. This is the time of the year I want to start hibernating and enjoy looking at the outside from the inside. This is a season when lots of interesting and homely scents are released in wax melt form, and the perfect time for me to make a new order to aide my hibernation. My first official Autumn inspired wax purchased this year was from an Etsy seller called Forest Moon Wax Melts (formally Seraphim Scents). And the fragrance of choice is Apple Butter. This cost £2.00 for 30g of wax melts.

    Why did I buy this?

This sounded unusual. Very different, intriguing and as a lover of bakery and fruity scents I didn’t think there was anything about this I wouldn’t like. And it sounded like an ideal Autumn scented wax to enjoy.

How does these wax melts look?

Most wax I purchase come in one solid piece and are housed in a lidded clear pot. Apple Butter is different. This is 30g of individual pieces of wax. Each piece flat and leaf shaped. All dusted in a shimmering pigment, with some leaves rusty red in colour and some holographic gold. Although I haven’t sat counting these out, there’s easily about 15-20 pieces of wax. Absolutely stunning wax melts!

I wasn’t too sure how many of the leaves to use as they are quite small, but I opted for 6. They melted super quick because of their size, and the fragrance filled my kitchen very quickly. These were a joy to watch in melt. The wax pool shimmered and glistened like molten copper.

    Fragrance

There’s a hit of cinnamon in this. It reminds me of a cinnamon flavoured chewing gum I used to buy years ago when on holiday in the USA. So maybe this is more a sweetie take on cinnamon rather than the powdered or stick version. Its not an overpowering element but provides warmth. Once you get the cinnamon then apple comes through soon after. Juicy, crisp apples slowly rolling around in a pan with some butter simmering away with the smallest sprinkle of brown sugar. THIS is the scent I got!

    Strength & Longevity

Using 6 pieces of the wax and melted in a small kitchen, I would say this medium in strength. I’ve had this melting for 2 days now for quite a few hours per day and the scent is still there. So longevity, like strength, is very good.

I absolutely LOVE this wax! Not only is the wax melts beautiful, the scent is amazing too. Its not one I’ve ever experienced before and if someone was heading towards a seasonal inspired scent, this for me screams Autumn. So if you want a fragrance which is Autumnal, but you don’t want to go down the typical route of something like gingerbread, get this! Its not too fruity or bakery like…its perfection!

  • Scents of Smell A Birthday Wish Wax Melt Snap Bar

Scents of Smell A Birthday Wish Wax Melt Snap Bar

Lets talk about wax. As a wax melt lover, I love to get suggestions of where to buy wax from. I haven’t tried every wax vendor in the UK, so being pointed in a new direction is something I’m always open to. One vendor I was recommended to was Scents of Smell. I made an order of a few wax melt snap bars to try this UK based wax vendor out. The first bar I melted was called A Birthday Wish. Each bar ( included this one ) I purchased was £2.50 each.

Scents of Smell’s A Birthday Wish Wax Bar
    Why did I buy this?

This is a made up of two scents that I’ve melted before separately, so this combination really intrigued me. I would never have put them together myself.

    Scents of Smell Scent Description

A blend of 1000 wishes and sweet birthday cake.

    Packaging

Placed in a simple clear plastic sleeve with company and scent name on the front. On the back general warnings and ingredients are listed.

    How does this look?

Think of a bar of chocolate but wider. This is segmented, so provides an easy way to break any of the 12 squares off to use. A pale baby blue colour, with a lemon yellow trail running through it randomly.

    Fragrance

Once I opened this up and stuck my nose in the wrapper I knew this was the perfect scent for me. You get 1000 wishes coming through first. This has a perfume scent and feel to it ( it should as its inspired by a branded fragrance ). Sweet, floral, a touch of citrus but with a little musk. Rounded off with the most delicious, cake like smell which reminded me of a Victoria sponge ( think vanilla sponge, cream and jam! ) which had just been freshly cut ready to eat.

    In Melt

I used three squares in my wax warmer which was the right amount for the room it was fragrancing ( living room ). Depending on the warmer/melter used and room, this may vary. This melted evenly and quickly, and the wax pool it created had a shimmer to it which I wasn’t expecting and really looked beautiful. The scent I smelt before melting and the scent while melting were identical.

    Strength & Longevity

This is a scent which is strong. When I say strong it’s not strong where its fighting with your nose, but strong in the sense of it holds its own in a room. It stood out against other smells e.g food, and I could even smell this through a closed window as I opened my front door! Longevity is excellent and this scented wax bar really provides great value for money. For 3 days my 3 squares of wax were melting for good duration of time e.g 5 hours on each day, and it still continued to give a great throw of fragrance even after that.

    Recommended?

Lets just say this will be on my list of favourite scents this year ( its slowly growing !). I love scents that surprise me and this did. A Birthday Wish Wax Melt Snap Bar as a perfume and bakery collaboration is beautiful. And the quality of this wax from Scents of Smell is very good. So highly recommended.

  • Druid & The Witch’s A little Bit Of Magic Bath & Shower Whip

Having a shower doesn’t mean you have to use a shower gel or a bar of soap. The body care industry consists of so many products it’s insane! If I look into my bath and shower stash there are soaps, shower gels, scrubs, soap sponges and even shower whips. Last year I purchased a specially priced box of bath and shower goodies from a small business called Druid & The Witch. One of the first products I tried was their bath & shower whip called A little Bit of Magic.

    What’s a whipped soap?

A whipped soap is literally what the name suggests. Its not a solid bar of soap or a liquid soap, it’s a soap that tends to be of a similar consistency to thickly whipped cream. You use it the same way you would use a more traditional form of soap to clean the body in either the bath or shower.

    Packaging

100g of whipped soap is housed in a clear lidded tub and labelled. It’s nothing sophisticated, in fact it’s incredibly basic. But it does the job and has a handmade and packaged sort of look to the product.

    How does it look?

A massive reason why I love whipped soaps is how they look. This whipped soap is mid purple in colour. It literally looks like someone has piped buttercream into a tub because of the shape its made into. This really does look edible and totally inviting.

Druid & The Witch A Little Bit of Magic Bath & Shower Whip
    Fragrance

It’s predominately a citrus scent, but sweet rather than zesty. Scent wise this isn’t far off from resembling a juicy, ripe peach so quite mouth watering. Fresh and almost sweetie like but not in a synthetic way.

    In the shower

I’ve only used this in the shower and not in the bath. For my whole body I could’ve used a tablespoon sized amount, but I’m greedy and used more. When I took this out, I found the texture of A little Bit Of Magic Bath & Shower Whip semi solid. Think of a body butter but a little denser and you will get an idea on how this is textured. On a sponge and under a warm, flowing shower, this lathered up beautifully and the foam was creamy, white, soft and a joy to be covered in. It cleaned my body perfectly and left my skin with it’s faint fruity fragrance. Skin after shower was clean, soft, not dry and ready to receive any other products I wanted to put onto it. And as a psoriasis sufferer no irritation, and I wasn’t desperate to follow up with a body lotion or cream.

    Recommended?

I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for a great quality whipped soap and I’ve found one! This is GORGEOUS! It looks amazing, it smells divine and my skin loved it so much I can’t wait to try the other scents.
