  • Clean & Fresh Strawberry Wax Creations Baby Soft Wax Melts

    There is nothing nicely than a great smelling room. It makes a room inviting and homely, and changing whatever fragrance used in it can change the mood of that room too. Having lots of wax melts means I can change up my fragrance choices regularly. A recent wax melt I’ve been using is Baby Soft from Strawberry Wax Creations. What is this wax melt like?

    Strawberry Melts Scent Description

    A gentle baby soft fragrance. Delicate floral with a soft rose heart sweetened with powdery accords and layers of creamy vanilla.

    How do these look?

    This pack contained 3 almost identical in look and colour wax melts. Not quite a snowflake shape or a flower shape, but I think an in between of these two look wise. Very pale and pretty mint green colour, with shards of small and fine silver glitter all over the top of it.

    Fragrance

    Think of the smell of a baby lotion. Give it more of a powdery element to it, the tiniest hint of floral and that is what this smells like. Fresh, clean, powdery, baby like!

    In melt

    Without the wax warmer being on, having just one wax melt sat in it gave off a strong aroma. As it slowly did melt, gone was the wintery looking wax melt which was replaced with a shimmering green lagoon pool.

    Strength & Longevity

    This melt is strong, which is typical of many laundry inspired wax melts. The cleanness of it, the powdery element to it softened by the floral made Baby Soft really stand out. Longevity was just as good as it’s strength. I had this melting for hours at a time with both scent and strength remaining constant throughout use.

    Recommended?

    Yes! Its a great alternative scent wise to a traditional laundry scent, but still has that clean aspect to it. This is one of those scents that most people will love. Who doesn’t want their home to smell fresh and clean? So fragrance wise these melts are perfect! What I really like is one wax piece lasts for hours, which mean 3 gives hours and hours of fragrance time so excellent value. At the time these sets of wax melts cost less than £3.00 each, which isn’t exactly breaking the bank.

    Are these still available for sale? Unfortunately not. Strawberry Wax Creations is on a much deserved break. If they return it’s worth looking out for this scent or similar because you won’t be disappointed!

  • The Surprising Nails Inc Night Night Soothing Face Mask

    Nails Inc are a brand that are known for their nail polishes and nail/hand treatments. But did you know they also have their own skincare products, in the form of masks? I’ve had their Night Night Soothing Face Mask in my skincare stash for awhile and thought it was time to actually use it. So what is it like?

    What is this supposed to do?

    This mask is designed to be used over night and gives the skin a fresher look and feel. It helps the skin to recover from stresses and pollutants it comes across during the day.

    Packaging

    The mask comes in a little pot which sits in a cardboard sleeve. The pot has a lid that pulls back so you can the use the mask.

    Texture & Consistency

    This is similar to in texture and consistency to a gel serum. White in colour, quite thick, smooth has a waxiness to it.

    Fragrance

    The scent of Night Night Soothing Face Mask is delicate but beautifully clean, floral with a slight sweetness to it. This smelt more like a body lotion than a facial product and I found it so enjoyable to smell.

    How to apply

    Onto clean skin, massage a thin layer of mask over the face. Leave on over night and cleanse as usual the following morning.

    In use

    You get 10 ml of product which is one application. I felt that was a lot of mask to put on my face so used only one third. This was enough to give me a thin layer over my face and neck. Easy to apply, very quick and clear with no colour on the skin. It felt as if I had applied a night cream onto the face because of it’s texture. To look at my skin it was obvious something was on it because there was a slight shine to it but didn’t look oily. The scent from the mask wasn’t obvious and perfect strength while on.

    I expected this to sink in after a few minutes which it didn’t. After accidentally touching my face a couple of hours after applying this, I found the feel of the mask still there.

    The morning after the night before

    My skin didn’t dramatically change when I woke up. But I did expect the mask to have sunk in, which surprisingly it didn’t…well not totally anyway! My face still felt as if there was something on it as there was a light waxiness to it. My skin wasn’t matt in look, it looked like I had face cream on it. It felt very nourished and treated.

    Recommended?

    100%! This is an easy and quick skincare face mask to use when you need your skin to be treated. Great scent, the mask provides protection and hydration, what more do you need? Perfect mask for the lazy skin care lover. Unfortunately, this mask is no longer available but Nails Inc have other skincare mask treats available here at various prices.

  • The Bath Bae’s Oh So Slushie Bath Cubes

    If you love baths you will love bath bombs. Different fragrances, colours and designs are available which means your bath time treat can be varied from one bath to the next. Not all bath bombs come in the typical ball shape. The Bath Bae, who I found on Instagram, sell lots of different bath treats e.g bath dusts, rocks and cubes. Definitely NOT typical bath bombs! Which made me want to try out their products, including their Oh So Slushie Bath Cube. So what were they like?

    Why did I buy Oh So Slushie Bath Cubes?

    I found the look and idea of bath cubes appealing. The scent from the description online sounded like something I would like and I thought I would enjoy using these cubes.

    What are bath cubes?

    Just think of a bath bomb and what they are made of and designed to do, and instead of it being round its cubed! And lots of them! All small, cubed bath bombs that are thrown into the bath to enjoy.

    Packaging

    200g of bath cubes come in a clear, pouch, so you can see the cubes in all their glory. Resealable, so they don’t need to be used all at once.

    How do these look?

    Oh So Slushie Bath Cubes are similar in size to a dice. Beautiful mix of colours are in each of them, pink, blue, little bits of purple and white. They have a great hand made look to them as they aren’t identical in appearance but look inviting and fun!

    Fragrance

    These smell AMAZING! They smell like an actual slushie drink. Sweet, strawberries, raspberry scented, cherries with a slight fizzy hit to it. This is how they smell.

    In the bath

    Its recommended to use either half or the full packet of these bath cubes. I used a third. Used like a normal bath bomb, I threw a handful of cubes under warm running water. Each cube slowly became an individual mini bath bomb which fizzed about and released bright streams of colours. A little foam was made, and then the bath went from a party of mini bath bombs, to then turning into a purple coloured bath soak. The water felt very soothing, my mind felt very relaxed with no irritation just supple and hydrated skin.

    Good value?

    The bath cubes cost £6.45, but when I bought these they had a 25% offer attached to them. A good quality bath bomb can easily cost up to £6.45 and the amount of product you get from this sachet is a maximum of 2 bath bombs so decent value.

    Recommended?

    I loved these bath cubes! Scent was to die for, gorgeous bath was created and the bath cubes weren’t drying on my skin. These created a a relaxing and enjoyable bath which any bath lover would love!

    Are these still available? Unfortunately not. Like many small businesses over the last few years The Bath Bae is no longer with us, but they really did hand make and sell some really great quality products.

  • Revolution Beauty London’s Stargazer Nail Polish

    Gel polish is one of the most popular forms of nail treatments over the last few years. But you can’t totally discount the humble nail polish which still plays a part in making nails look good. Grabbing and applying anything for my nails is time consuming these days, but I did buy Stargazer from Revolution Beauty London a few months ago when it was part of their sale and cost £5.00.

    Why did I buy this one?

    The colour, how glittery it looked on the website and the reduced price made me buy this! I’m a sucker for nail colours that shimmer, shine or glitter and this hooked me in!

    The bottle

    Stargazer is housed in a clear bottle with a chrome coloured R on the front. Modern in look, simple and stylish. The lid is silver in colour and textured so overall a very appealing and good looking bottle.

    The colour

    I actually thought this would be a clear polish with pieces of silver glitter in it. Yes, there is silver glitter in it. The glitter appears flat, pieces are all the same size and shape suspended within the polish. But the polish itself has a grey/silver tinge to it which makes it look almost molten, but not a total block colour.

    Application

    The brush was quite wide and spread easily over the nail, with each being covered in 2 to 3 brush strokes. The first coat I did thinly and the final two I loaded the brush with a little more polish. Each layer was touch dry in around 2 minutes. I ‘ floated ‘ the brush over the nails to make sure I wasn’t dragging any glitter off and dabbed the polish on to make sure glitter was where I wanted it to be.

    Consistency wasn’t too thick or fluid. Easy to apply, no strong smell of polish present and even without top coat my nails were very shiny.

    I applied two layers of top coat. With the first I felt the glitter wasn’t smooth enough and slightly rough to touch. The second application did the trick and smoothed it all out.

    Coverage & overall effect

    Depending on the amount of applications, you can build up the colour and sparkle effect. One coat gives a sheer background with glitter. Two coats turns the sheerness into more of a silver colour with more glitter. And three coats makes the background colour more obvious with even more glitter added making it very glittery.

    Long lasting & removal?

    I’ve been wearing Revolution Beauty London Stargazer Nail Polish for three days now and no chips in sight! This is good for me as I can just look at a nail and the polish can come off. I can’t comment on removal as I haven’t got to this stage, but a light flight over the polish and lots of remover should do the trick.

    Recommended?

    Nicely packaged, great colour and sparkly appearance with nice application and longevity means this is recommended definitely! Stargazer is a good quality nail polish and worth looking at other colours from the brand.

    Stargazer shortly after purchase was discontinued, but there are lots of different polishes available on the website to suit all nail needs. Currently with 20% off on Revolution nail polishes at Boots.
