  • Bath Beauty Babe’s Strawberry Cheesecake Sugar Body Scrub

Instagram will be the death of me! There is nothing worse than a visual platform throwing pictures in my face of bath and body products. It literally is a shop front window living in my phone screen! Temptation getting the better of me, I made an order from a Manchester based small business called Bath Beauty Babe (formally known as Jenny Makes For You). One of the products I ordered was Strawberry Cheesecake Sugar Body Scrub which was on sale for £5.10 instead of £8.50.

    Why did I buy this?

I’ve had my eye on this vendor’s products for ages. I needed a body scrub so this being on sale was timed perfectly. The look of this, the name, the scent description hooked me in 110%.

    What does this do?

This is a sugar based scrub with cocoa butter and coconut oil. These ingredients will provide a hardworking body scrub, while moisturising the skin during and after use.

    Packaging

240g of scrub comes in a lidded plastic tub. The labelling is fun and the tub itself is clear so you can see what pampering product is in it.

    Hoes does this look?

It LOOKS just like a cheesecake! If you look at the side of the packaging you can see two distinctive layers. You have the base which colour and texture wise looks just like the biscuit base of a cheesecake, and the top layer same texture but pink in colour. So when I took off the lid, of course this is a scrub, so the pink section isn’t whipped or cream like but a jam packed scrub which was identical to the bottom.

    Texture

Lots and lots of very fine grains. Think of caster sugar consistency. Its not a totally dry sugar scrub as I could feel a light coating of some sort, but it doesn’t sit in a pot full of oil and grease.

    Fragrance

Strawberry Cheesecake Sugar Body Scrub has two layers to it and two different fragrances. The top layer is fruity, strawberry/berry like and sweet but not sickly. The bottom layer has a light citrus, orange hint to it with a little vanilla. This gives it a bakery type of scent which makes this scrub not only look like a cheesecake but smell similar to one too!

    In the shower

I used this scrub on wet skin while in the shower. I used enough to cover three fingertips and applied it to the top half of my body. Then delved in for a little more for the rest of me. It spread over my skin easily, and I could feel the grains of sugar working against it providing an exfoliating action. The scent was there which I loved, and made this a pleasure not a chore.

    On the skin

After I applied this, I had a bath ready to slip into, so I could gently rinse this off. Once it was off I was surprised how soft and silky my skin felt. My skin felt very moisturised as if some form of light oil had been applied to it. Once my body was dried, it still felt silky soft, highly moisturised but not greasy. I could even detect the fragrance on my skin too which was very light but still delicious.

    Recommended?

This is a beautiful scrub. The look of it is fun, the fragrance is mouth watering but it’s still a hard working product. It does everything you want a scrub to do and is enjoyable to use. These combined mean I would buy this again in a heartbeat! This is one of those products which is a great treat for yourself or perfect for gift giving.

Fancy this body scrub in your shopping basket? It’s currently available on the website for £8.50.

  • Breathtaking Rancher Wax Melt From Strawberry’s Wax Creations

Buying and using wax melts to fragrance a home is addictive. Anything that makes an area of a home smell nice and makes it inviting will be something you would want to recreate regularly if not everyday. So it’s no wonder wax melts are popular. One UK wax vendor I purchase my wax melts from is Strawberry’s Wax Creations (formally known as Strawberry Melts). A wax melt I bought from in a past restock was Breathtaking Rancher.

Breathtaking Rancher Wax Melts by Strawberry’s Wax Creations
Why did I buy this wax melt?

This is what I call a fusion, a merge of two separate scents. Breathtaking I’ve had before on its own. Not my usual go to scent but I found it quite interesting. Rancher is a scent that IS my typical go to and I just wanted to see if they would work together.

    How does this look?

A trio of three chunky wax shapes consisting of a love heart, star and flower. All three being the same colouring which is the softest of green topped off with a darker shade of green. Each shape being the perfect size to pop in a wax warmer.

    Strawberry’s Wax Creations Scent Description

Top notes of lemon, sweet orange and aloe waters. Middle notes of white pepper, white eucalyptus and a steam room accord. Bottom notes of sea moss, beach wood and clear musk. Rancher – Super sweet, super fun. Just like the pineapple flavoured candy.

    Fragrance

The three melts were in a plastic wrapper and when opened up the first thing that hit me was a juicy, ripe, sweet hit of pineapple. Mouthwatering, the type that makes you dribble. Even more so because its not just the smell of pineapple…oh no…but with added syrupy sugar that smells of pineapple flavoured sweets. Not that dissimilar to a pineapple cube if you’ve never tried a rancher. After the fruitiness came a more earthy, crisper and cleaner scent underneath which is what I’ve gotten before while melting Breathtaking on its own in the past. Somehow these two work and don’t fight each other but compliment.

    In melt

I popped one of these into my warmer and slowly but surely it melted away leaving a beautiful sea green pool of wax. The scent was already there, and like so many wax melts from Strawberry Melts the scent grew and grew and filled the room rather than deliver a massive hit and then linger and disappear.

    Strength & Longevity

Medium to strong in strength. Obvious but not heady. Important for me at the moment with suffering from hay fever as my head can be super sensitive. Longevity was very good. I changed my wax to a new one purely for a change rather than the scent had gone, and this was melting away for at least a good 4 hours at a time for 4 days.

    Recommended?

A curious blend which I’m glad I took a chance on. I seem to be finding some brilliant blends at the moment that on paper don’t quite match but do in real life work! And if there was anytime to melt this THIS would be the perfect time of year, due to it having that tropical Summery smell. I would love to see this come up for sale again and give this a massive thumbs up. Not available at the moment as the scents and wax changes regularly but visit Strawberry’s Wax Creations website here to see what is currently up for purchase and to keep tabs on this making a reappearance.

  • Superdrug’s Turmeric Revitalising Clay Mask

One of the most affordable and easy to use skincare products on the market in my opinion is a skincare face mask. You can spend as little or as much as you like, they come in various forms and textures and they delivery a short term form of pampering to the skin. Sometimes all you want for your skin is a temporary boost, and that’s why I delved into my skincare stash and pulled out Superdrug’s Turmeric Revitalising Clay Mask. This was given to me from a friend.

    Superdrug’s Turmeric Revitalising Clay Mask
What does this mask supposed to do?

Draws out impurities and extra oil from the skin, and makes it feel and appear smoother.

    Appearance & Texture

It has a slight orangey tint to it which isn’t very appealing. I didn’t expect the colour to be beautiful but I think the combo of turmeric, clay and shea butter doesn’t produce a visually appealing mask. Texture is smooth and quite thick, and what you would expect from a mask containing clay.

    Fragrance

Definitely has a turmeric scent to it but not too strong. I felt there was a slight citrus element to it which gave it a zing and slight freshness.

    How to use

Apply to clean skin avoiding the eye area and leave on till dry for 10-25mins, then rinse off with warm water.

    On the skin

I followed the instructions on the packaging. It didn’t take too long for my facial expressions to become frozen as it did dry out quickly. Not in an uncomfortable way but in a clay skincare mask kind of way.

    Removal

I used a damp, warm muslin cloth to get this off and it did the trick. I followed it with warm water to make sure all residue was gone and it had.

    Skin afterwards

My skin felt and looked a little smoother, a little more rested and I felt it was fresher. I checked my skin the following day and felt I could see the same results which made me feel very happy!

    Top Tip

I got three uses out of one sachet! A third was plenty for one application and I could see the benefits so I didn’t use it all at once. You also may find you don’t even need that as you may want to apply this to only certain areas of the face e.g nose, forehead etc.

    Recommended?

This is a great, affordable mask. Don’t be put off by the colour and the scent isn’t overwhelming. It left my skin in better condition than what it was prior to using it so an absolute winner! This usually retails for 99p (at the time of writing this post) and regularly on a multibuy promotion so not expensive at all!

  • Going Bananas For The Body Shop’s Banana Bath Blend

I’m always on the look out for new products, especially for the bath. When you love your baths as much as I do its easy to go through different fragrances and different forms of bath time treats. So when something comes up that is different and unusual, it will always grab my attention. I was given by a friend The Body Shop‘s Banana Bath Blend. I’ve never seen or heard of this before which meant I NEEDED to use it.

The Body Shop’s Banana Bath Blend
    What’s a Bath Blend?

Bath Blends harness the powers of fruit and vegetables. They combine vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to create a moisturising and nourishing bath product to provide a decadent and above average bubble bath.

    Packaging

250ml of bath blend comes in a screw top lidded clear bottle. You can see the bath blend in it, with the labelling complimenting the colour of the blend perfectly with its hues of green, orange, yellow and brown. Very earthy in appearance and strangely enough could easily be mistaken for a milk based drink because of how it looks and its contents. Very appealing!

    Fragrance

I was praying this wouldn’t smell artificial and fake and thank god it didn’t! Banana is an odd scent which could go horribly wrong as it’s not the easiest scent to create. This smelt to me of chopped up slightly ripened bananas. Drizzled with a touch of honey and a dash of cream thrown on top. It’s creamy, sweet but not sickly and has an almost vanilla like element to it. Truly beautiful, true to life and not for drinking!.

    Consistency

Its not a gel or a bath cream. It’s milky/creamy yellow in colour and has quite a thinnish consistency to it, but not too watery. If you have ever tried a bath milk I would say this is similar when poured out.

    In the bath

I didn’t need to use much of this. Under warm running water this lathered up like a dream and created ALOT of foam/bubbles. Underneath the foam the water was a very pale yellow colour. But it was the scent that got me. Exactly the same as what I smelt in the bottle, but mixed with warm water in a warm room it truly was beautiful. Not heavy, not too strong, very comforting and yummy and just the perfect scent to help set the scene for a great bathing experience.

    On the skin

Very kind and gentle while in and out of the bath. No drying of the skin, no irritation, and I didn’t walk around smelling like a milkshake!

    Recommended?

Unusual fragrance. concentrated formula, created lots of bubbles and was gentle on my skin? Definitely recommended! It’s a great bath product which is different because of how it smells and it’s consistency and creates a fabulous bath. The Bath Blend not only comes in banana, but also berry, mango and pear! Each one costs £8.00 which is more than your average bath soak but it IS different! Visit The Body Shop online to grab your fruity bath time bath blends.
